Lesson learned. Need more days in Disney!!! Aug 2010 (NEW 1/20-COMPLETE)

What kind of shoes did you wear Yuki? One year I made the mistake or wearing flats and needless to say that day ended up with me in tears trying to get a CM to get me a band aid cause my heels were cut up so bad. That's what I get for trying to look cute!

I wore my well worn-in sneakers with gel insoles. I trained myself way before this trip with lots of walking and knew insoles would help a lot. But even with all that, my feet wasn't prepared for the hardcore-ness of WDW park touring.

I switched to nice cushy flip flops in the middle of my next day, but by the end, it still hurt, so I basically switched between the two. Andrew's massages and bath bombs from Basin helped a lot.

Those WDW band aids are nice eh? I've got a good story about that coming up in Day 4.

Yay an update! I love the way you write about everything :)

Are you there guys? It's me, Yuki.

I didn't get this reference, and I'm thinking that's a good thing.

Then he says, "I mean, it's not like most of you take notes on your daily life. That would be pretty weird."

:rotfl2: I'm only weird at Disney. Well, note-wise anyway.

Andrew with Russia in his own way.

I can't say whether this is offensive or not. Is it?

Totally offensive. Just for that I'm not coming to the DISmeet this weekend. ;)

One of them I definitely remember, because he was SO SURE he had be stumped. He had asked me 2 questions prior and I got it right, of course. His question was "Ok, if Restaurantosaurus is in Dinoland in Animal Kingdom, where is the T-Rex restaurnt?" To which I quickly replied, "Downtown Disney". He was like  "How'd you know that??" I said, "Well........cause I just know."

That's funny. These newbies don't even know what a hard question is. I wonder what his other question was..."which park has Cinderella's Castle?"

Ok, moving on! So, we took a pic of this cool t-rex fossil.

It wasn't until I was showing my friends this photo that everybody seemed to notice the white guy in the photo. We've since dubbed him, The Angry White Guy. I'm sorry man, we didn't mean to include you in the photo. No need to be so upset.

Andrew should have taken a picture with Angry White Guy eating his finger. Now that would've looked scary!

The only word for a picture of that quality would have been AWESOME! No, wait.....I think EPIC would have to be the word for a picture like that.....

This will be my new mission in life!!! "Angry white finger eating guy"

Yeah! An update!

Love the rest of your DTD day! Those photos of the different countries at the Lego store look so cool. We totally missed those. :scared1:

One reason why I don't like Disney transport ..... having to hike to the bus stop and then wait and wait and wait some more and stand on the bus ..... :rotfl2:
But you made it in the end!

Keep them updates coming! I just love to read them! :thumbsup2

OMG I take notes on things that happen all the time in real life too! Ha ha ha! I keep a personal journal and like to talk about random happenings during the day.

Looks like fun and games at DTD! I love the dinosaur skeleton with the finger - perfect placement! It looks like the dino is actually minature sized! Andrew's Russian pic is traditional :thumbsup2

I just want to tell you guys that I met a girl named Sanaa. My jaw almost hit the floor when I saw her name.

That is funny! It is kind of pretty. Wonder what it means?

I didn't get this reference, and I'm thinking that's a good thing.

:rotfl2: I'm only weird at Disney. Well, note-wise anyway.

Good, you clarified that. I was going to have to ask Judy.

Where is Sleeping Beauty's castle???

Andrew should have taken a picture with Angry White Guy eating his finger. Now that would've looked scary!

:rotfl2::rotfl2: Maybe he tried and the guy is, "stop putting your finger in my mouth!"

Great update girl! LOVE the pic of Andrew gagging the dinosaur, very clever!

Next time you need to try my foot trick: rub stick antiperspirant on your feet in the morning. I know, it sounds really weird, but it totally works. Completely eliminates friction.:thumbsup2

As far as good Disney shoes go...my vote is for Crocs. All day. Every day that I was there. I'm also a teacher and am on my feel all day long and I wear them to school. I have a few different types, but the ones I wore I wore mostly at Disney were a pair of Croc flip flops and regular style, Mickey ones.:goodvibes

Are you there God? It's me, Margret(got your reference!!!)

Great update!!! Don't you just love when your looking at pictures and the weirdest stuff is in the background?

As for Epic Mickey... Deffinetly a tough game!!! I was trying to restart the teacups, but got stuck on a boat and ended up in It's a Small World. I currently have no clue how to get out. There's a bridge (which I keep falling off of), a hippo, and a whirlpool. Got any clue what I'm talking about or any hints to help me out?

Hi Yuki I just read your DTD update cool pix !!!! Just for everyone ones info I just had a wonderful MEET with Yuki and Jen in Niagara Falls !!If Yuki doesn't have pix I will post !!!I will tell you this Gal LOVES Coach !!!!!!

Yuki,
I just found your TR and I'm hopping on board. I think I was laughing the entire time I was reading your report!

Okay, I'm with Andrew and I love to drink too (which makes Epcot a great location for me!). My brother and I plan on doing much drinking there on our trip in February.

Yay an update! I love the way you write about everything :)

Awww, thanks a lot! I'm going to try to update once a week. *crosses fingers*

I didn't get this reference, and I'm thinking that's a good thing.

It probably is. I would be wondering how you know...

:rotfl2: I'm only weird at Disney. Well, note-wise anyway.

Haha, yes, must specify the note-wise thing.

That's funny. These newbies don't even know what a hard question is. I wonder what his other question was..."which park has Cinderella's Castle?"

Hahaha, I think he gave me an equally noob question. "Which park is Spaceship Earth in?"

Andrew should have taken a picture with Angry White Guy eating his finger. Now that would've looked scary!

Ohhh, that would've been so scary! I'll bring it up next time we encounter another Angry Guy.

The only word for a picture of that quality would have been AWESOME! No, wait.....I think EPIC would have to be the word for a picture like that.....

This will be my new mission in life!!! "Angry white finger eating guy"

Haahaha.

Yeah! An update!

Hey Karin! I hope to update at least once a week now!

Ohh, those displays outside the store were SO COOL! You'll get to see them on your Feb trip!

Yeah.....staying at Pop....has that one downside. Andrew and I have gotten into the habit of just sitting in the line when we get there, so wait for the bus.

OMG I take notes on things that happen all the time in real life too! Ha ha ha! I keep a personal journal and like to talk about random happenings during the day.

Awww, you keeps notes for your journal! Well of course, we have to have our life WELL documented!

YAY an UPDATE!

Are you there guys? It's me, Yuki.
Wow, Yuki what a random reference, But I totally got it. That is one of my favorite books growing up.

LEGOS, I love LEGOS.

And Dinosaurs!! This is like a geeks paradise.

If this guys doesn't want to have his picture taken, he really shouldn't stand in front of things people often take pictures of. :sad2: What a dope. :rotfl2:

NOM NOM NOM

Pleasure Island! I remember it in it's hay day. I'm so mad that all the clubs and bars are gone. When I was a kid I couldn't wait to go there when I was older. Oh Well. I'm excited for what Disney is going to do with it though.

I just remember being very little on my first trip to Disney back in 1989 and saying that we would all turn into Donkeys if we went into Pleasure Island because that's what happened to Pinocchio. I forgot that's where Pleasure Island originated.

Awesome Update Yuki.

Glad you liked it!

That is funny! It is kind of pretty. Wonder what it means?

Um...I can't remember..... I know Jiko is the Cooking Place.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: Maybe he tried and the guy is, "stop putting your finger in my mouth!"

You know, I would never know! He took a lot of pictures without me seeing.

Haha, Andrew loves gagging dinos I guess!

Ooooh, anti-perspirant. I need to try doing that for sure.

Oooh, I bought my first pair of Croc flip flops after I came home from Disney. I LOVE THEM. I hope to buy at least one more for my next trip. They're so comfy but they get such a bad rap from the clogs.

Are you there God? It's me, Margret(got your reference!!!)

Hey Kelly, you got my reference! It's such an old book too!

I love spotting new things in my photos. You just never know what you're going to get at Disney.

Yeah, Epic Mickey's controls and camera angles are hard to maneuver. I dunno if you've gotten past this part yet, but you should be able to find more hippos to paint to jump on. You can paint the bridge in too.

I don't have enough pix Rosie, but Jan did! I had such a good time with you!

Doesn't every girl?

Amen to that!

Yuki,

Hey Danielle! :welcome: Great to have you here!

Haha, I'm glad WDW has Epcot. It's the park that I know will get Andrew to go back! Oh, you guys are going to have so much fun!

YAY an UPDATE!

Wow, Yuki what a random reference, But I totally got it. That is one of my favorite books growing up.

I'm ALL about random references!

LEGOS, I love LEGOS.

It's perfect for us!

Ohhhh, I didn't even remember until just now. Yeah, on my first trip, I really wanted to go to Pleasure Island, but we stayed offsite and I had no idea it was free to go :sad2:

I'm excited about Hyperion Wharf too! Can't wait to see the new look. The lanterns that wrap the pole look so pretty!

Awesome Update Yuki.

Aww thanks! Let's hope I can keep it up!

A super awesome day with some super awesome Dissers!

Since Rosie and Jen have posted about the meet, I guess I should too!

Jen and I spent most of the day together, so I'll try to avoid repeating what she said. For her version of the meet, go to her TR!

The day started bright and early for me as the alarm went off at 7am and Andrew woke me up by saying, "Time for wake up for your Dismeet!" I was so tired, I didn't hear the alarm. But then again...the alarm is "ocean sounds" that just get louder and louder. Has splashing sounds and seagull sounds. I dunno, Andrew likes it I guess.

So, was up and got ready to leave by 7:20am to meet Jen at a subway station at 7:30. It was only one stop away and Andrew's apartment is right above it! So I thought I would get there in no time.

So, to get from the apartment to the subway station, there is an underground path that leads there, that goes through a Loblaws. I went down to the path and was walking through Loblaws when some employees asked me if I worked there.

Me: No...
Them: You're not allowed in here, it's not open.
Me: *thinking-But the doors to the store opened for me* Oh, I'm just going through
Them: Ok then.

So, I got to one of the exits of the Loblaws and had to pry the automatic doors because they hadn't turned on yet. I'm pretty sure I was allowed to do that. I get through and walk towards the doors that lead to the subway. Ok, looks like this door is locked. Let's try the other one. Oh, those are locked too.

What??? I had no idea the subway would be closed! When does it open on Sundays anyways? I've never had to take public transit this early before. Oh well, no biggie. I'll just walk upstairs to exit the building and walk the few blocks to the station where Jen and I arranged to meet up.

Ok...these automatic doors aren't open, but maybe those are? No dice. All the doors are LOCKED. Ok.....so the building isn't open.....and I'm locked.....Maybe I can try these other doors in the back entrance. Nopes...they're all locked.

Calls Jen. *refer to Jen's version of the phone call*

I explained to her the whole situation of how I can't figure out a way out of the building....but I'll try. After I hang up, I go back down to the Loblaws entrance and try to sneak back in. Luckily for me, the doors were still open from when I pried them open. One lady saw me going through the store, so I walked faster, hoping to avoid confrontation.

I go back through the underground parking, back to the apartment, go up to the lobby, exit from there, walk around the building, and Jen calls me to tell me where she has parked. We finally see each other and we get into her car.

Oh my gosh, it was COLD!!!

Luckily for us, the drive was completely traffic free! The sky was starting to clear up, and getting past the border was a breeze. Even though we had just met, we chatted like we've known each other forever. It didn't feel like meeting her for the first time at all.

To elaborate on what Jen has already said. When we told the guard we met on the internet he asked us, "Friends? Girlfriends?" To which we responded, "Oh, just friends."

Haha, the part about explaining to him how we met and the website we met on. That is the craziest thing. I've never been asked about where I met my traveling partner before! Did we look that suspicious???

We were able to find the Seneca Niagara casino in no time and parked in the free parking lot. We planned to meet Rosie at 10am, but we got there by 9:30am!

Before we left the car, Jen gave me this!
SSPX0410.jpg

It was a burned copy of her Four Parks 1 World CD!!! I loved the inside.
SSPX0411.jpg

Special Disney CD roms, and in my favourite colour too! Thanks so much Jen!

After we waited and waited for Rosie to show up, she came with this!
SSPX0407.jpg

Oh Rosie, you know just what to wear to a Sunday breakfast! Here are my lovely dining companions.
SSPX0408.jpg

I must be the worst Disser ever, I didn't take a photo of my plate! I really need to get a digicam. My phone camera just doesn't cut it. I LOVED meeting Rosie! Rosie, you are just a wonderful human being and I had a great time with you. You are so funny!

Rosie then led us to the Outlet Mall in her car. She was so cute and tiny in that car! All we saw from behind was her tuft of hair above the driver's seat. She made us run a red light! We're so glad no cops were around. The last thing we wanted was a ticket from another country!

I loved the mural that they had on the side of the building. Next time I go back, I'm taking more pictures. Parts of it looked SO REAL! It really looked like an extension of the actual building. Just gorgeous.

We walked around the mall and I saw this cute little candle holder.
SSPX0409.jpg

And that folks, are all the photos I took yesterday.

We brought home a great haul! I was able to find a Bobble (bubba) bottle in the Old Navy.
Bobble-7-colors.jpg

I got the one in green. The coloured part is attached to the drink nozzle and it filters as you drink! I saw it on the Tips thread and was really interested in getting. You replace the filter (the green thing for mine) every 300 refills.

I hope to try it out in August on the Florida water. I hope it'll make it taste so much better!

Jen and I also went crazy in the COACH store. Oh my gosh, I LOVE that Coach factory store!!!! Everything at a discounted price, and things from last season at an even DEEPER discount! I was able to get a very cute crossbody bag that Jen took a picture of, and some Poppy Chan t-shirts that I didn't know they had! What a find! It took me quite some time to decided on what to get, there was so much to choose from and they all looked SO GOOD. 50% off, plus 20% off of that? YES PLEASE.

Jen and I also bought $10 jeans and I got some very comfy flee pants for $4 at Aero!!!!! :cool1:

We were very happy with our purchases. After resting a bit in the food court which included my resisting of getting some Auntie Anne's because I was still full from breakfast, we decided to call it a successful Dismeet.

Rosie went home and Jen and I found our way back to the bridge. This time, the border guard was even scarier!

Amoungst the usual questions they asked, we were asked some I've never heard before.

Guard: Do you have $10 000 or more in cash in the vehicle?
Us: Hah, no. We wish!
Guard: Any fire arms?
Us: No...of course not.

Then she told us we had to be subject to a random search! What??? Two girls that went shopping? Why US?????

So we parked over to the area and stood outside the car while another guard checked the contents inside. While we were shivering in the cold, I was coming up with an explanation for all the things I hadn't decided to "claim".

1) Oh, there is a smaller bag in my bigger bag because I wanted to bring things for the car, but wanted a smaller bag to carry around while I shop. (Totally plausible)

2)What? Those aren't Coach clothes. I got them somewhere else on a huge sale!

3) Seriously, I only bought about $50 in stuff!

The guard seemed pretty nice and we seemed innocent enough, so we passed the inspection with no trouble (or extra taxing) and headed on our merry way back to Toronto.

It was a great day and I had a LOT of fun and I look forward to doing it again! Next time, we're going SHOE SHOPPING!!! Anyone want to join us?
