Lesson learned. Need more days in Disney!!! Aug 2010 (NEW 1/20-COMPLETE)

Epic Mickey is really hard Yuki! I have trouble just moving around. I wish the controls to move around were like on Playstation for Star Wars Battlefront...I can move around in that without even thinking about it.

Epic Mickey is not easy - well it was until I got into 'It's a Small World' - :lmao:
But I am enjoying it so far. (Had to quit playing since the 26th - too much going on with out of town daughter.)

Happy New Year - to all! :yay:

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYBODY!!!

Hey all you wonderful Disers out there! I hope y'all had a wonderful holiday season! Starting Dec.23, along with my 10 day vacation away from school, I also took a 10 day vacation away from the internet!

Thanks for all your well wishes and I hope you excuse my absence! 10 days is not a lot of time to try to see all your family and friends and spend quality time with each of them. I can't believe I've already started school again.

With that out of the way, I shall now go back and reply to each of y'all and also get caught up on all the TRs and PTRs that I am TERRIBLY behind in. Ta ta for now!!! :wave2:

:rotfl: It's sitting under my bed, not going anywhere... and if you still need time, it's small enough to come home with me to Boston, and then I can send it to you from there. I will be home beginning of January.

I all too well know that it is easy to spend money at Disney...

Oh yes! I'm sorry I haven't been good with sending you the money. Most likely I'll have it for you by end of January. Will the shipping costs be different from Boston?

:rotfl2: This sounds like something someone with a drinking problem would say. "My problem was that I hadn't drank enough, leading up to the trip." You're too funny Yuki!

Haha, thank you Glenn!

Oh my gosh, you've got poor Andrew wrapped around your finger. And worst of all -- you know it!

:littleangel:

I'm with you...I've always thought they were uuugly. But now I have a pair that sit at the back door for when I take the dog out. Easy on, easy off, and comfy. I'd still never wear them "in public" though.

Yeah, after trying them on, I'm a changed woman. In fact, I've even started to defend them!

Enjoying the Updates YUKI!!! To bad about Ghiraldis !!! I try to limit my souvenir shopping and only get a few things ech time !!The kids usually want a T Shirt and Judy Mickey jewelry !!!I do want to get a Disney Spoon rest anda Mickey ice cube tray!!Of course I have to get me a pin!!!!

Ooooh, a Mickey ice cube tray! That sounds awesome! I think now that I plan to go back more often, I'll be getting less stuff. I've started a list of my must-haves for each trip. A 3-D puzzle from Japan, a pin, and a hoodie sweater with the year on it.

YUKI!

OH MY GOSH. I am so behind on your report! But I just read your most recent update, so I thought I'd comment.

Minnie Mouse merchandise is the best. I just wish I was 7 years old again so that I could fit in one of the dresses. LOL.

I feel the exact same way!!! I used to have a Minnie dress when I was a little girl. Not just the Minnie dresses, I want to fit in the princess dresses!

I love that you convinced Andrew to buy you the giant Stitch. I need to find a man who'll buy me a giant Stitch.

You definitely do! It's really the best.

Basin is like heaven. I wanted to buy one of everything, but resisted and only wound up leaving with a bar of Mickey Mouse soap. Next trip I'm making one of the soy candles though, for sure.

I LOVE their bath bombs. I only take baths at Disney cause my tub at home is too much of a pain to clean for a bath. Oooh, I should get a Mickey Mouse soup next time.

That sucks about the service (and lousy shake) at Ghiradelli. I've always wanted to try it, but maybe not anymore...

Well, maybe it was just a really bad day for me? Their food looks soooo good!

Yuki! I learned that lesson a while ago too. I don't even buy anything for anyone on any vacation I go on. It might be a little bit selfish, but it's MY vacation so I should be making myself happy. It's kind of selfish of others in my opinion to be expecting a gift from me when I come back to begin with. I know it's your culture but I think even if I followed my husband's culture (He is Filipino) I would lose my mind. Hahah we are so American in that respect!

I am super picky about eating out now a days. I mean it's kind of crazy because I try to eat so healthy. So I would have asked for my money back and never got the shake because of that. I would have been so upset. Not mad, but just upset. Haha that kind of stuff happens to me all the time.

I'm glad that Andrew got you the Stitch did you get to trade more pins during your trip?????

Haha, I really need to stop getting so many gifts for other people. Definitely something I'll stop doing. I didn't save that hard to get stuff for some people that may not even appreciate. My brother LOVES the clothes I got him though, so it does make it worth it.

Oh, sucks that it happens to you so much. It was completely unexpected. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. It wasn't even that busy when I was there.

I DID get to trade my pins when I was there! I only had 1 pin to trade though. But I traded that one like 3 times! Haha

How funny you walked around the store holding Stitch until Andrew finally gave in! :rotfl: Sweet he helped pay for the souvenir items, even if you did pay him back later on. I just usually buy something for my mom when I'm at WDW. I'm a broke college grad, I can't afford to buy stuff for everyone back home  It's ok, it's not like they expect anything, anyway.

I think Ghiradelli's gone downhill in terms of quality. Their brownie sundae isn't as ginormous as it used to be and it's now 10 bucks for a small goblet! Boo.

I just couldn't let go of the Stitch. I knew I couldn't leave WDW again without it. Yeah, I'm so glad he helped me out then.

Haha, I'm a broke college undergrad! No more spending my hard earned (and saved) money on expensive gifts for other people, unless their b-day was coming up.

Wow, it sucks that they've gone down hill. Price inflation is just nasty. My favourite wings place just upped their prices on a lot of my favourites! It's so upsetting.

It's hard not to spend money when you are in DTD

Aw how nice of Andrew to take the hint and buy you the Stitch

I still have yet to visit Basin that is a must do when I go in August!

Ugh I am sorry about the bad service at Gheradelli! They should have at least apologized for losing your ticket!

It is easy to spend a lot of money at WDW I don't even want to think about the most money I have spent there :rolleyes1

Can't wait to hear about TOT!

Yeah, DtD is a shopper's paradise! And the World of Disney is like.......heaven's Disney store. On earth.

I'm very glad Andrew got me the Stitch! Took about 5 minutes of acting younger than the kids in the store, but it was worth it.

I really expected them to at LEAST apologize you know? But no. It was nothing. Just a, "We lost your ticket." That's it.

Merry Christmas Yuki and Andrew!

Merry Christmas, Yuki and Andrew!

mickey2.jpg

Merry Christmas! I got your card yesterday, thank you so much! The little drawing of you was so cute! :)

Merry Christmas!!!!! :santa:

Merry Christmas Yuki!!!

Great updates! :sad2: for overspendng at DTD. I know how it feels... to find a bunch of perfect things then realize how much of it doesn't fit in your budget!!!

By the way... i did get Epic Mickey for Christmas. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to play today!!! Veerry excited!!!

Thank you for your holiday wishes everybody!

To Danica: I'm glad you got my card! I thought you would like the little picture.

To Kelly: It really sucks to not have a big enough budget. My next trip, I hope to save enough money to not have that problem. I can't wait to see what you think of Epic Mickey~!

Yuki, I don't know if I've said this before or not but I believe Andrew is the Asian version of my boyfriend Steve. I swear, he does the exact same things. Also you, like myself, totally know his weakness. A little pout of the lips and a bat of the eyelashes and they're done for.

With Steve and I whenever we go shopping, I'll warn him that it will be a while and he'll say "It's ok I have my DS and/or PSP" :)

Yeah, whenever we go shopping, before we leave, I always ask Andrew if he has his DS. I also make sure it's always charged before we go out.

And with buying stuff for me, I don't usually buy stuff for myself, I always say "I could use the money on something else." I also don't do it on purpose but I'll see something and then look at the price tag and put it back because it's too much or decide I don't really need it. Then Steve will look at me and ask "Do you want it?" And I usually say "Nah, it's ok" then we go back and forth him asking if I want it and me coming up with a thousand excuses why I don't need said item and he'll end up ignoring me and buying for me anyways. He usually comes up with some excuse saying it's an early [insert anniversary/holiday here] or sometimes he'll just say "Happy [insert day of the week]"

But enough about me back to your trip....

Oh ya! I do that same thing with the price tag. Andrew and I both do that. We'll say something is cute, look at the price tag (which will be too pricey) and say it's not cute anymore. No more reasons needed! But for small items, we do the same dance. With me saying I don't need it, and him just getting it for me anyways. I've got a few of those items in my room, just gathering dust unfortunately.

Shame about Ghiradellis. :sad2: I guess it's just regular old human error, however if seems to be consistently bad with the service. Especially since the shake was just meh.

I really want to check out the Pirate section of World of Disney. What's better than Pirates and Stitch?

The pin store also looks really neat. The Yoda/Stitch pin is so awesome. It combines two of my favorite characters. And I love love love Elvis Stitch. I really want to get some pins to trade on my trip.

Yeah, the shake was nothing more than a melted McFlurry. Nothing special.

NOTHING is better than Pirates and Stitch. Omg, POTC 4 has ZOMBIE PIRATES?????? Or just zombies, but wtv, that's super cool.

OH and also, Crocs are awesome! I love me some crocs. Most people who can't stand Crocs are won over by the same kind you bought. They are little pieces of heaven for your feet.

Ooooh, soooo good. I can't wait to get me some more on the 15th when I meet up with Rosie!

I'm curious to know whether or not some of your relatives give you money BEFORE you go on vacation as good luck of sorts for travel. My grandparents still do that when we go away, ESPECIALLY when we travel on an airplane. We used to also do the souvenir thing, but now that we don't have much money, we don't do it any longer. It becomes a search for something they'll like and something they'll use, so it gets to be difficult. We ALWAYS go to Florida, so there's nothing new for them. My relatives go to places like Europe, so it's different!

Actually yes. My aunts and uncles give me some extra money mostly for emergencies. It's very nice of them. I was able to get another EoS sammich with it!

Yeah, I really need to stop with the souvenir thing. My parents still do it when they go back to China, but that's because everything is dirt cheap.

Howard and I kind of got into pins on our last trip! We went to the nearby outlet and found them for 50 cents! They were perfect because we could trade every single one of them. Of course, we didn't buy THAT many because we didn't think we'd need it. STUPID move. We didn't realize that we could've just stocked up! AGHHH, we're STILL regretting it! We're going to have to go back and look there the next time we're in Florida. Even if they're $1, we'll get them. I even asked the CM who worked there if they were all tradeable, and she said they were. She said it was the best way to start trading and that they RARELY ever go that cheap. We should've listened to her advice more than we did!

Woooow, what a great deal on pins! I must make a trip to the outlet when I'm down there next time to see if I can score something. I would love to have more pins to trade.

I'm with you with how funky some of the crocs are! I never thought I'd get crocs, but they're branching out to make things that aren't just the clogs. I have 3 pairs of crocs. I have the Lily Winter flats that I wear every day to work until it's too cold, and I have to switch to boots. I also have the Cleo, which is what I wore to DTD in my current TR. I like that they stay on my feet and that they don't have the flip flop thong (it starts to hurt me after a while). My last shoe is the Adara, but that was because I bought it with a buy one get one free deal. It was too loose to wear outside, so it's the slippers I wear at home, and they're so comfortable! They all are! Good decision though not buying it at Disney! If you stalk the crocs site or even the budget board on DIS, you'll find out about great sales and deals!

Oooh, I want a pair of Cleo's too! And I'm still on the hunt for Athens. I fell for that style. I can't remember which pair of flops I actually own. Yeah, I should stalk the budget board more. The biggest problem is still the shipping to Canada. I'm hoping to find some good deals when I meet up with Rosie at Niagara Falls, US.

Just a fly by post !!!The 15th is getting closer !!

Rosie, I'm SO EXCITED FOR THIS!

Yay an update!! I love all your pictures and you're so funny! I took my first trip to WDW in May so I can relate to Andrew :)

I had the same problem with spending money as you did, luckily my BF is just as generous as Andrew is haha! Can't wait to hear more!

Haha, thanks about the pictures! Haha, it's interesting that you can relate to Andrew! It's his 2nd trip to the World too.

Hooray for generous BFs!

Hi, Yuki! I have seen you on so many other people's TRs I decided to come and check out yours. And I have been so glad that I did! I read the whole thing in a couple sittings. I have loved seein Disney through your eyes; you are so enthusastic and it sounds like you had a wonderful time. You also got to meet Karin and Tom (Dizneeat) who I will be lucky enough to meet come February! :thumbsup2 Looking forward to more updates!

Hey there! It's so great to have you here! Oh, you're going to have a great time with Karin and Tom! They are just such amazing people to hang out with. I wish I could be there with you guys!

Haha, Andrew thinks I'm a little TOO enthusiastic about Disney. It's still so new and exciting to me.

Hi Yuki! Just got all caught up on your most recent updates. Souvenirs are always tricky for me too. I go down there with all these ideas about things I'd love to get - but I have a hard time spending money on myself. So I buy a bunch of stuff for other people first. Then when I realize how much I've blown - I REALLY don't want to spend any money on myself. Its a sickness, I know;)

Andrew was so sweet to get you that Stitch (and to help you out with your big World of Disney bill!). And he looks adorable in the Earl of Sandwhich pictures. You've got yourself a keeper!:goodvibes

Hey Rebecca! Haha, I know what you mean about spending on yourself. It's just so much easier to buy for other people. But you don't end up getting much for yourself.

I'm so lucky to have a DBF like Andrew. I love those EoS pictures. It was all his idea too~ His way of saying hello to the Dis.

Epic Mickey is really hard Yuki! I have trouble just moving around. I wish the controls to move around were like on Playstation for Star Wars Battlefront...I can move around in that without even thinking about it.

Yeah, the controls are so hard to handle! Those camera controls are so tricky! And I hate getting stuck in a corner that you just can't get out of!

Epic Mickey is not easy - well it was until I got into 'It's a Small World' - :lmao:
But I am enjoying it so far. (Had to quit playing since the 26th - too much going on with out of town daughter.)

Happy New Year - to all! :yay:

Haha, the iasw part is real tricky. We "died" a lot during that part.

Hi Yuki !!Is it finally gonna happen next Sunday !!! I plan to check the Outlet Mall on Saturday to see where the sales are !!!!!We have to finalize this soon!!

Yes Rosie, it's on! Jen and I are PM-ing about where she'll be picking me up. I'm so looking forward to it! I hope the crowds won't be too bad.

Happy New Year Yuki! I'm glad you got so much family time!

Yay for another DISmeet!:yay: Don't forget the pics!

Hey Tammie. Happy New Year to you too! I've been trying to catch up with everybody's TR and am still not done!

Chapter 14. Day 3 pt.3- That guy sure looks angry

Are you there guys? It's me, Yuki.

If you got that reference, GOOD FOR YOU. Believe it or not, it was actually one of my fave books as a child. I'm pretty sure it wasn't meant for children.

Sooooooooo, it's about time I put up another update! Getting back to school and trying to get all settled and catching up on everyone else's TRs and PTRs is not easy when you have TERRIBLE internet. Seriously....it's so bad. I have to wait till I get to work to do this. I WAS at work on Saturday, but due to some construction on campus, we had no internet connection!

This one is a short one (I think). I don't even have that many notes written for this part of my day, but thank goodness for all the photos Andrew took! I'm writing my TR half from notes and half from pictures.

Oh, speaking of taking notes! I was in my social cognition class the other day, and our prof was explaining to us why concepts are important and how it differs from goals and how goals can lead to concepts. Well, he used the examples of our goals to learn (which he hoped we all had), and how because we want to learn, we understand the concept on note taking. He was explaining to us how we can activate concepts through goals. Then he says, "I mean, it's not like most of you take notes on your daily life. That would be pretty weird."

It just made me think of my constant note-taking for my TR and how I've actually started taking notes on my real life, to report on my blog, as a result of my note-taking at Disney. Haha.....I was sure not to raise my hand when we asked if any of us actually did that. Oh, the habits we develop from the DIS.

OK, let's get to my update already!

So, after we leave the World of Disney store, with NONE of our purchases (thank you Disney delivery!), we wandered out to explore DtD some more. I knew I wanted to check out the Lego store cause I've heard of the displays they have in their windows.

Here are some photos of our walk over.

I don't even remember this view....

Lego dragon! I love showing this photo to my friends.
DSC00311.jpg

Lego dinosaur! I had no idea this was there.

Lego dino CLOSE UP!
DSC00313.jpg

London in Lego. It was SOOOOO nice. I bet London looks exactly like those blocks.
DSC00314.jpg

Andrew with Russia in his own way.
DSC00315.jpg

I can't say whether this is offensive or not. Is it?

THIS was super cool. It was life sized! I would've loved to see a Buzz in there too.
DSC00317.jpg

We didn't spend too much time in here because there were tons of children running amok. We DID play with the lego people pieces though. We tried to come up with the weirdest combination of heads and hair and hats and bodies and outfits. Should've taken a picture of our masterpieces.

I thought this Lego transformer was SO COOL. Even though I grew up with Beasties.
DSC00318.jpg

The Cafe from way back at the entrance.
DSC00319.jpg

I think one day I'd definitely like to eat in there. Just once.
DSC00320.jpg

Ok, a story about this restaurant that's SORT OF related. On our flight down there, I brought along the WDW brochure that my TA at MouseFanTravel sent me prior to the trip. I also brought my latest issue of Orlando Attractions to read. While I kept myself occupied, Andrew's DS ran out of batteries. I wanted him to get a better idea of the parks because he really didn't know it well at all. He also didn't really listen to me when I told him about it.

Soooo, as part of him learning more about Disney, he said he wanted to quiz me. If I could answer his questions, then I would get something, and vice versa. I can't remember what it was. So he went about reading the brochure and trying to find the most obscure thing to ask me.

One of them I definitely remember, because he was SO SURE he had be stumped. He had asked me 2 questions prior and I got it right, of course. His question was "Ok, if Restaurantosaurus is in Dinoland in Animal Kingdom, where is the T-Rex restaurnt?" To which I quickly replied, "Downtown Disney". He was like  "How'd you know that??" I said, "Well........cause I just know."

Ok, moving on! So, we took a pic of this cool t-rex fossil.
DSC00321.jpg

It wasn't until I was showing my friends this photo that everybody seemed to notice the white guy in the photo. We've since dubbed him, The Angry White Guy. I'm sorry man, we didn't mean to include you in the photo. No need to be so upset.

Andrew really liked doing this with dinosaurs.
DSC00322.jpg

You'll see it again on our AK day. You can guess where he took it.

After some more strolling, we saw Fulton's Crab House from the front! We had to get a picture of it because we were originally planning to have our Anniversary meal there.
DSC00323.jpg

The Characters in Flight balloon. It looks so big up close! If you remember, I was able to get a picture of it up in the air when I was in Epcot the day before. I want to ride it, but I'm terrified of going on that thing.
DSC00324.jpg

I'm not sure why he took a picture of Planet Hollywood. Looks cool I guess.
DSC00325.jpg

We barely had any time to explore Pleasure Island.
DSC00326.jpg

Last but not least, to end our walk from one bus stop to the next bus stop, Jenny the boat from Forrest Gump! This one's for YOU Kelly!
DSC00328.jpg

My feet was crying bloody murder by the time we finally got to our bus stop. I LOVE staying at the Pop and everything, but it is ALWAYS the furthest bus stop away from the exits! That's really the only flaw I saw at the Pop. I think it's just taught me I need to take it slower, so by the time I leave, I'm not cursing the bus stop being so far away.

When we got back to Pop, we refilled our mug with some drink, and headed back to the room to rest. I might have either taken a short nap or just got off my feet and watched the Disney Channel. All the notes I have for this part is that I "rested" whatever that may be, and that Andrew had a cup noodle.

Coming up next: Naked babies, Tower of AWESOMENESS, and Fantasmic

Yay, a Yuki update! And yes, I did get the reference. And I think I read all of her books before I should have, but hey... they were...um...educational, I guess? :lmao: Glad you enjoyed your time at DTD. I remember eating at Fulton's when it was still the Empress Lilly. Ah...memories!

T-Rex is on our list of "must-dos". AJ is OBSESSED with dinosaurs! He wants us to call him the Andrewsaurus-Rex! I love the lego store! So much fun!!!

Haha, "educational". Ooooh, the Empress Lily. That's a pretty name.

Yeah, I really liked DtD. I didn't expect it to be so big!

T-Rex is on our list of "must-dos". AJ is OBSESSED with dinosaurs! He wants us to call him the Andrewsaurus-Rex! I love the lego store! So much fun!!!

Rebecca! I haven't seen you in so long!

Awww, Andrewsaurus-Rex, that's adorable!!!

Yeah, We got caught up with life and having to cancel our trip made me a bit grumpy! We had a LOT of testing with Aj so there was never time to get on anymore either!!!!! Im so glad to be back! I've missed you guys!!!
