Lesser Known Attractions

It has been snowing all day here in Massachusetts, and I'm getting a little bit of cabin fever...what better way to get my mind off the fact I've been stuck inside all day then to start doing some more research for my May trip to WDW?

I'm looking for suggestions for some lesser known attractions that we may overlook while in the parks. For instance, my three year old is a huge fan of fire trucks, and I just found out about the "Where's the fire?" exhibit in Innoventions West. Anybody have anything they think many people overlook while touring? (Our trip will include myself, my DH, DS3 and DS1). Thanks in advance!

Peoplemover!

It is up above Tomorrowland and not a headliner, so I think it often gets overlooked - but it's our fav :)

I second PeopleMover, much to my surprise my DS8 wanted to ride it over and over again on a recent visit.

Also second Philharmagic, it's been one of his favorites since his first visit.

And believe it or not, he wanted to ride Carousel of Progress multiple times.

Couldn't get him back in Stitch, though ... not even for a Mickey pretzel. :)

At Epcot, he enjoyed just about everything inside Innovations. Probably could have spent all day in there.

At AK, we were done by noon :(

At HS, he always wants to see Indiana Jones and Lights/Motors/Actions (if that is what it's called?). Surprises me all the time because he's a thrill seeker and I didn't think I could pry him away from ToT or RRnR.

check out the special activities in the parks:
masks in the countries
phineas and ferb hunt in epcot
sorcerer cards in MK

we had never taken the time to do them until our trip this last April and the kids really enjoyed that.

AK - Flights of Wonder is interesting as the birds are quite talented and the low flights directly overhead are something else.

Also, take the train out to the remote station for animal interaction opportunities [think petting zoo] and viewing areas.

The two walking paths through animals are really interesting, particularly as the animals are always doing something.

My DS loves the Boneyard. Funny to think, but for a "park" there really aren't alot of places for kids to just burn some energy. Instead, there is much time spent in strollers or carriers of some type and alot of waiting. The playgrounds can be a bit of a life saver. [in addition to the Bone Yard in AK there is the Honey I Shrunk the Kids at DHS and the area under the train platform near Splash Mountain in MK - haven't found one in EP, but the Innoventions pavilions combined with the interactive games inside Space Ship Earth do the trick for us]

DS asks to do the TTA, CoP, and Philharmagic. We also enjoy the show at the American Pavilion in EP.

Never done it at DL and I know its at WDW I want to ride on the main street vehicles.

In EP there is a small one modeled after the Cars stuff not far from TT, and then there is another one I believe on the right side of the park (right side if you are facing WS) kind of as you leave FW and head into WS. Also in MK my kids loved Tom Sawyer Island.

These are all great suggestions! Thank you everybody...I am definitely going to add these to my planning spreadsheet!

Citizens of Hollywood at Hollywood Studios. Street performers who interact with the guests on the main st. of Hollywood Studios. Fantastic for kids of all ages. I believe it is only done during the early part of the day at Hollywood Studios. Well worth lingering on the streets of Hollywood.

Another vote for the people mover - It's a great way to relax for a few minutes and gain a second wind.

Thanks for the heads up!

To OP- forgot to mention the hedge maze in the UK pavilion. Lots of fun for small kids, particularly when Mom gets *lost* or *trapped* doing it. J/K - the hedges aren't very tall so you can easily see over them even as a child.

We love spending time on Tom Sawyer's island.

I'll second Tom Sawyers Island . Fun to explore the caves and fort and use your imagination. Actually a great place to get out of the crowds. Great for hide and seek too.

My family cannot get enough of the animation academy at DHS. I love the boat ride from DHS to Epcot! :)

I also love AK: Flights of Wonder. I believe this is an often overlooked attraction.
