Planning a family trip to DW June 19 - 27 or July 15-25. we visited DW for the first time last year around June 10th and it rained everynight and one whole day. My question is would we have a better chance for less rain if we moved our vacation to the July dates? :sunny:

Only slightly less in July according to weather.com. 7.35" in June and 7.15 in July.... :flower:

Anywhere in Florida, you can probably count on some rain from 3-4 pm, without fail from May-August. It's summer in the tropics, what can you do? ::MickeyMo

Definitely no difference in the rain, unless you get good or bad luck. It may be a little less crowded in June!

No difference at all. We were there last year, June 6-12 and we had rain every afternoon and a few evenings. It actually helped cool things down. You just have to deal with it.

I don't think there could be much difference. I've only been down there at the end of June or mid-July and every time it has POURED for at least one day. The upside if you don't like rain its still very warm in June and July, and the storms never last long. Just bring a rain coat if you see dark gray clouds. The only other tip to give you is that if you wear contacts, like me, and theres a torrential downpour COVER YOUR EYES! I didn't do that right away and nearly lost my contacts in a downpour that hit Epcot on our last trip! It was hilarious as everyone took shelter and my husband and I wandered through the parking lot, unable to see 2 feet in front of us b/c of the rain! Anyways heres to wishing you sunny skies on your summer trip!

I hate to differ from everyone here, but I do live in FL & I see a difference, not sure if any other Floridians do or not. There is more rain in July than June. The begining of June is much more drier than the month of July. The rains get worse as the summer goes on. Aug/Sept is the worst. Then rain tappers off the towards the end of September, by end of Oct it is gone. As far as May is concerned. It isn't considered one of our rainy months....

I've been here over 32 years and I agree with you. In July you can count on a shower between 3 - 4 pm every day.

I grew up in Florida and still visit regularly. Afternoon showers are common throughout the entire summer. However, they often bring some welcome relief from the heat and crowds.

We were at WDW for 8 days last July. It rained the first 3 days of our vacation, but the parks weren't crowded and we weren't sweating. After 2 days of hot sun and no rain, we were wishing for rain again.

Don't hate to differ! Thats what the boards are for! I'm glad you posted that actually! I've never noticed a difference myself when I have been on visits, but thats just it, I have never lived in Florida so would not know as well as someone who does live there. :) Now I actually can plan better and now we all have our answer! :)

I agree with A Mickey Fan. I live in SW Florida and we see more rain in July than in June. The afternoon rains are usually brief and help cool things down, relatively speaking. :sunny:

:crazy2: Ok, I'm obsessing over this now!!!

While weather.com and accuweather.com say the average Orlando rainfall for June is actually about a quarter of an inch more than it is in July, I looked at the last four years for the time period the OP was asking about:

2004 2003 2002 2001

June 19-27 .39 1.39 7.09 3.24

July 15-25 .77 2.93 3.77 7.92

So while the averages say there is no difference, it has definitely been rainier in July three of the last four years!!

Hope this helps. Whew, now I can relax!

I agree! Though both our in our "rainy season" it only gets worse as the months go on. Beginning of June is drier and it the rains showers become more frequent as the summer months begin to go on.
