lesbians need not apply

so you do not favor of same-sex marriage?

Me. Yes I want to be married. It might not be for the reasons most people want to be married. I want the legal protections. I want my girlfriend (of 13 years) to be able in inherit without penalty (or conflict), to make medical decisions and oddly maybe the most important to me I want to make sure that when we are old that we can stay together and a nursing home will not seperate us.

About the rings, don't most people assume that they have a wife (if it is a gay couple)?

maybe, but they might have a pflag sign instead.

this flag took up most of the floor-to-ceiling glass wall of an office, in a huge corporation, in the main hallway. because i became friends with this person, i know the purpose. it was the purpose she intended.

Oh, a proud gay!!

Not in particular to Disney resorts, but many mayors now 'sell' their cities as gay friendly.

The Bellagio is advertised as not family friendy, that's where I
stay, course, they don't mean family like we gays mean 'family.' :lmao:

oh i see...i just go around presuming there isn't a reason to NOT be friendly to any "group", so it is a little funny to me to advertise about it.

'cept the family-friendly thing in vegas...i guess that makes sense as the place can be pretty "adult".

Disney has been a gay friendly company for a long time-I'm not sure, but I think they allow same sex partner benefits.

i'll say...i used to go to "gay days" at d'land with my friend and his special friend...until it got too crowded for me. disney is great for many reasons.

they were the first major company to offer them or one of hte first...

i was waying that, what i THINK master mason was saying was that the law provides for a man to marry a woman...we're all either men or women, so technically we have the same rights...any man can marry any woman and vice versa.

PRACTICAL application of that law doesn't correspond to all men or all women, because some men and women are homosexual, so the practical application of the law is where the inequality exists. technically-speaking all men's rights are identical (a man can marry a woman), but practically-speaking, some men want to marry a man.

Are we all EITHER men or women? Why the need to box everyone up? :confused3

There's really nothing "practical" about marriage laws that do not allow same sex couples to marry, honey.

Nah, the Bellagio doesn't like kids in their hotel. :lmao:

It can get pretty "adult" here in Orlando on Gay Days Weekend too.

I think you miss my point.

I don't care what you have in your office.

Yes I think that showing off baby pictures you are declarring your HETEROSEXUALITY. I do. Sorry but pictures with mom dad and baby that is what you are doing. Likewise pictures with baby mom and mom also send a message of homosexuality. I don't care! I encourage personality with my employees. I have pictures of my nephews on my desk and a painting of Yoda on my wall.

My point is that straight people tell us everyday that they are straight, why can't people that are gay?

i can honestly say i've never introduced myself as a heterosexual person, nor have i announced it in any way to anybody, especially at work. if there were a heterosexual flag, i wouldn't hang it on my office window, and if i did, i would expect to be asked to remove it.

never in my life will i consider a family picture an expression of anything except love for a family.

the disucssion actually had to do with the "gays in the military" topic.

True! A friend of mine had to have her children somewhere else so that her wife could be there when she gave birth to their triplets.

wow...triplets! what a handful.

out of curiosity, what if she just wanted her bff to be there...would they have allowed that?

Hell, that's the assumptive premise.

When gays do it, they're "flaunting."

well, i'll say again that i don't consider a family photo on the desk to be an announcement of one's sexual preference...i guess 'cause it is IN a person's office, ON a person's desk and it doesn't scream a sexual preference. a giant flag in an office window where a person can't help seeing it, where you can't even see who works in that office, is a little "screamy".

i think people say that it is more about love than sex, that is what people mean. Suggesting the reason i date women is only because I like sex is like saying a straight man chose his wife because he was choosing the optimal sexual partner.

I think that saying the difference between homosexuals and heterosexuals is a difference their attraction preferences, not just sexual preferences. it not only sounds nicer, but is probly more accurate.

thanks. i'm talking about sexual attraction, not the activity itself. (i agree about the word preference, as i understand orientation/preference, etc. all mean something quite different.)

I will ask but I am sure it would be a huge no.

There would have been no doubt who she is.

hmmm...wasn't thinkin' 'bout the "t" and i know very little about it. but even if a person is "t", do they then identify with the current state of gender?

there are some people who identify with neither gender all the time, some people call this "gender queer" though not everyone uses the term. my current gf is somewhere between "girl" and "boy" in terms of gender identity, but does not wish to become a male OR a man, she just doesnt like the "boxes" gender tries to put her in...

I can only speak for my friends. 2 of them do not consider themselves male or female. They both take T and are trans. FTM
