lesbians need not apply

and the difference between your opinion on gay discrimination and my opinion on gay discrimination is- I live it, you don't. It's called inequality.

OMG.

Get off it. This isn't some personal attack, Master.

Civil rights. Keep up.

I quoted the post I was responding to, it wasn't about civil rights it was about my personal opinion... Keep up.

One reason that they might want to mention that they have a partner of the same sex is if they wanted medical coverage.

they mention this, then, in their benefits paperwork and with HR. i live in california...i believe we have made strides towards the benefits equality here.

You seem to disagree with the Christian lifestyle, does that mean you hate Christians?
I disagree with any lifestyle that results in injury to others. It's wrong for christians to discriminate against gay people, just as it would be wrong for gay people to discriminate against christians.

What is it with people "reading into" others' posts? Are you so hot to argue a certain point that you just make one up and attribute it to someone? Where exactly did you get "invalidates"? I can't help what you assume M & M.

I didn't read anything into it that wasn't there, you clearly implied that your opinion on the matter was superior to mine because I'm not gay.

That's just it, gays don't talk about SEX, it's the heterosexuals that talk about gay sex all the time. :lmao:

i'm in the s.f. bay area...i hear a lot of "gay sex" talk all the time (my office is right next to the kitchenette). in a non-workplace environment, i don't care. at work, i find it inappropriate. i don't wanna hear about heterosexual sex in the workplace either. in a bar, okay. at work, not okay. at the guy's house, okay. at work, not okay.

Cindy's post wasn't saying that your opinion was invalid. You said you didn't understand the "whining". That right there made your opinion pretty clear, Master. Maybe you don't understand. Why is that? Could that be because you have been blessed with the acceptance that comes along with being heterosexual?

Who is the one who said he didn't understand?

i
, that person is focusing on the wrong thing at work...homosexuality.

focus on work at work.

SO why can straight people have pictures of their families? Is that not focusing on their heterosexuality and what their sexual acts created?

Uh, you do know that gays come in many variations, yes? ;)

Oh and by the way, there is no gay "lifestyle," gays are a lot like straight folks, they worry about kids, mortgages, health, etc.

I do not understand making new laws when we have current existing laws that cover the exact same thing. The problem isn't that new laws are needed, the problem is the existing laws are not enforced. Does that make it clearer?

In a similar but unrelated vain, I don't understand special laws for when you kill someone with a gun vs some other method. The victim is equally dead regardless of the weapon.

whining=marginalized, trivialized, etc. ::yes::

Are you barred from having a picture of your significant other at your office and others are allowed to have them?

And that statement tells us that you are unaware of the origins of DADT.

Google it, be surprised. :)

i think i have an okay understanding of it. my point is that homosexuals have always been in the military. people didn't used to talk about their orientation/practices because it was private stuff, so there wasn't any reason to discuss or make laws about "homosexuals in the military."

i asked my father about this in 199....5(?)...whenever dadt was being proposed. he said that nobody ever cared whether or not somebody was homosexual...they merely had a job in the military and that was that. people knew (for whatever reason) that some people were homosexual, but it was never really discussed, 'cause that would have been rude. he also said it never made a difference as to their performance so it shouldn't matter.

That's what I keep seeing too-from the same fine folks who accuse Christians of acting superior to them!

I've said this before and I'm sure I'll say it again: Inferring or stating outright that others are inferior because they do not share your point of view is the best way to make sure they never do.

If they don't talk about it-then how would anyone even know they're gay to discriminate against them? :confused3

exactly.

i have to say, though, that i've been aware of people speculating, and it was ugly. seemed to me it was the speculator with the "issue".

"the difference between your opinion on gay discrimination and my opinion on gay discrimination is- I live it, you don't. It's called inequality."

M & M, I "clearly implied" no such thing. I'm flattered that you think my opinion is superior but you are, once again, mistaken.

Yes, Master. Your opinion is pretty clear.

Fightin' for equal rights and equal protection under the law is "whining". I'll just call it "fightin'". :thumbsup2

And why the hell is this all about sex? Do you think gays have nothin' better to do but spread their wild sex lives around? Makes the argument more interesting for the heteros!

again, i live in the s.f. bay area, and homosexual sex is thrown around a lot here. the only difference between homosexuals and heterosexuals is the sex part, right?
