Length of bunk beds

I honestly did try looking through the FAQs and the using the search function but there's just so much information here!

Here's the scoop. We know ds14 doesn't fit into the FW Cabin bunk beds. He'll be 15 next August when we stay at the WL, in a bunk bed room. He doesn't really fit into a regular twin bed either; this September we bought him an extra long twin.

Should I be trying to make some new reservations? I can just imagine arriving and having to say "There's a problem. My son doesn't fit in his bed." :)

If I remember correctly, the bunk bed at the WL seemed like it was the same length as the Queen bed right next to it.

I think he'll be ok if he sleeps on the bottom bunk; we had a similar issue at AKL in 2002.

What's nice about the bottom bunk is that there's no side rails and the foot board area is slightly smaller compared to the top bunk. Now, if he sleeps "pencil straight" he might be a little on the cramped side, but we just placed a small pillow leaning from the mattress onto/over the footboard which made it more comfortable if I wanted my feet to hang off the edge.

I normally sleep on my stomach with one of my knees folded and I (5'9ish) was fine on the bottom bunk. I did have an issue when I tried to sleep on the top bunk though, it was like trying to cramp yourself into a crib, and since I'm a "sprawler" sleeper, it meant for a very awkward night sleep. Since the bunk beds aren't directly against the wall like in the cabins, it was a little bit more spacious as well.
