I'm going to there in early March to visit my mom and 3 DD's, 17, 20, 22. I have'nt really been in the area since graduating HS in 82. What are some ggod places to go to to do things? I'll have a week so I'm open to anything.

Hi JDinCO! I live in the Lehigh Valley & I guess that's why I can't think of anything exciting to do here! LOL!!

There's always Dorney Park (I won't touch it with a 10-foot pole) - wait they may not even be open for the season yet in March. There's Lost River Caverns in Hellertown if you want to do the nature thing. There's outlet shopping up in Tannersville, about 30 min. north of the Lehigh Valley. The Promenade Shops in Center Valley are a new "outdoor" lifestyle shopping center if you like to shop. As far as clubs & bars I'm just too old & boring to know about those!

If there are any specific activities you enjoy let me know, I'm sure I can come up with something. There's quite a few DIS-ers on here from the area. Where did you graduate from?

Thanks Tara, I Graduated from Liberty, shortly after that the Army took me away and ended up retiring in CO. I wasted a lot of my teens at Dorney Park before the water park was there. I haven't been to Lost Cave since I was 7 so that's a though. I'll be going to Hellertown anyway.

Hmmm.....I'm in Hellertown...now you've sparked my interest! Not much to do here though...

Dorney isn't what it used to be. You couldn't pay me to go there anymore.

There are a lot of nice restaraunts in The Promenade which is just 5 minutes west of Hellertown - Shulas, Melt, Pacifico - high end - all the way to Red Robin & Cosi counter service.

If you like sports there are the Lehigh Valley Outlaws (arena football) at Stabler/Lehigh, and the Iron Pigs baseball is in the summer in Allentown. Not sure if they are in spring training yet in March.

Dorney won't be open yet. You could go to the Allentown Farmer's Market on Thu/Fri/Sat and pick up PA Dutch baked goods, local treats, etc.

Tara mentioned the Promenade Shops, and I think they will be your best for the age of your DD's.

Thanks, I'll look into the shops. I'll be staying in Easton with my mom. But my dad and grandma are buried in Hellertown. I remember it well, I saw Christine at the theater there. My dad was a south sider and my mom a north sider. In fact I worked at the Sears downtown Bethlehem my sr year.

Also looks like I'll miss any sports. DD23 wants to go to NYC and my niece has been planning as well so I'll see.

Head on down to New Hope and have a walk around:goodvibes

Doomed...

:rotfl2:

There's really not much to do in the Lehigh Valley. You'll have to venture out of the region for outlet shopping (Reading or the Poconos). None of the parks will be open. You might want to check out what's playing at the State Theater in Easton. It's a beautiful old theater with a variety of shows.

I forgot about the Promenade but that's an outdoor "mall" (I really don't get outdoor malls in colder areas of the country).

I work at The Promenade (sorry LuvOrlando I'm off on Saturday when you're there!) - so if you have any questions just ask!

All good ideas, I forgot about New Hope. Believe it or not even though I live in Colorado I don't ski. If we go to NYC I'll look into Transbridge, last time we took the PATH out of Hoboken. I also might take a day and go to the shore, the last beach I saw was at the Beach Club LOL.

I might stay clear of the outlets, DW cringes when I get near a Columbia store.

I was doing some searching and found out Liberty was the state champs in football. And I did see the band on the Rose Parade.

Just saying howdy, and agreeing there is not too much to do around here this time of year! Too bad you won't be in the area in April. Hershey Park opens for "spring in the park", and is usually a good diversion for the boredom of the winter here, LOL.

Anway, cool too see so many posts from folks right in my own backyard! :goodvibes

(Also a graduate from Liberty here - class of 1985)

Last time we went in the summer the humidity kicked my but for a couple days so I want to avoid that plus now I have the time to go. DW was going to Pjilly on business but and I was going to piggy back on a trip then her travel got cut. I'll see what the girls come up with they are excited.

You may want to head over to Starters Riverport in Bethlehem. If you like sports you will love to get a bite to eat here! It is not far at all from Liberty, it is on the south side.
