Florida’s oldest tourist attraction is about to become its newest. Merlin Entertainment will be building a new Legoland theme park at Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven, FL. Winter Haven is about a 45 minute drive from the Orlando attractions area, assuming light traffic. But that shouldn’t hamper Legoland which will add another family friendly destination to Central Florida, something that Cypress Gardens was never quite able to accomplish IMHO

we will no doubt go at some point.

I think the problem they'll face though is that its going to have to be very good to get on everyones must do list.

Even us international visitors who tend to go for two weeks at a time struggle to fit everything into two weeks - especially for those who it is a once in a lifetime trip. So to make time for Legoland, something else will have to get pushed off the must do list.

Domestic american visitors who tend to go for less than two weeks generally wont be visiting I wouldnt have thought - unless they somehow make it as appealing as Disney.

Will anyone be going when it opens?

Been to Legoland Windsor twice, 1st time was great when Matt was small, 2nd time too big to get same enjoyment.
No won't be going to another legoland in the near future. If we ever take out Goddaughter or have Grandchildren then possibly, where we would goto any of the current theme parks without children I wouldn't goto Legoland unless there is a lot more to it than Windsor.

I doubt that we would go.
Even when we had free Busch Gardens tickets we never used them because we couldn't be bothered with the drive, so I doubt Legoland could tempt us.

Have you still not been Kenny?
I think it was about our 15th trip before we went, didn't even bother when we stayed at Clearwater. Once we did go we realized we should have gone earlier, now buy Annual Passports, its my fave park. Not everyone feels the same but I recommend trying it, its only 60 mins each way.

We live an hour away from Legoland Windsor and visited a lot when the children were younger - I think it's better for primary aged children.

We visited the original in Denmark when they were in secondary school and really enjoyed it - but it's always quaint going to a foreign theme park.

I don't think I'd make any effort to travel to Legoland if I were on WDW holiday even if I had younger children.

I won't be making the trip - I think its sad that Cypress Gardens won't be back, I have many happy childhood memories on it as it was my dear dads favourite place.

It'll be nice for those with kids under 8. We went to the one in California last year. My DS was a little bit too old at 10, but we enjoyed seeing everything that had done with those bricks. I didn't think it was worth the price of admission to be honest, even if my DS had been younger.
