I hope it is ok to ask a legoland question here. Everyone seems to know so much about disneyland, but also other fun stuff in so. california.

We will be driving thru carlsbad dec. 29 or 30th and were thinking about hitting legoland. We are avoiding disneyland due to the high crowd levels this time of year, but how is legoland? We have a 7 year old boy who loved his first trip last year around spring break. We went to disneyland also that same trip and the crowds were a little too crazy for us, but jsut fine at legoland.

sooooo what do you think? Too busy or not? Has anybody been to legoland that time of year? We most likely will skip it if we are looking at more then 20-30 min. in the lines.

Thanks!

Well, I've never been to Legoland during that time but the countless amount of times that we have been there, the crowds were very minmal and tolerable. This goes for DS's birthday in March, DD's birthday in June, and other trips in the summer. I doubt you have very little to worry about but I may be wrong...

I think you'll be better off on Thursday than Friday (although Thursdays at legoland are often crowded too, because they run some promotion -- maybe Thursday is grandmother's day, or something like that with a heavily discounted admission).

You're going during legoland's holiday block party, which I have not been to, but I think will be very busy. If it's anything like July or August, it could be rough. I think when you combine kids out of school and southern california, you're risking it.

Legoland does not need to be super crowded to feel super crowded. Most of the major rides are very slow loading, non cycling rides (e.g., like dumbo). There is perhaps no place in the world better for 3-8 year olds when legoland is not crowded, but it is horrible when it's crowded -- just no fun at all.

I noticed that Legoland will have a 'New Years party' the next day until 6pm. (That's midnight on Kid's Standard Time.) Maybe that will cause lighter crowd days because they'll be there on the 31st for the celebration.
