Legoland and Pricing

I am planning a 7 day trip to WDW. I thought of doing 6 days at WDW and then one at Lego. However, the price may prevent that. its $75 to go to Lego and only a few bucks to spend one more day at WDW.

Its the sme thing that keeps me from doing a WDW/Universal split.

Maybe I will have to do a non disney trip one of these years and do Universal/Lego/Seaworld/Busch Gardens

Don't say 'non-Disney' around these here parts...thems could get yous in serious trouble...:rotfl:

Under the best of conditions it would be about an hour drive from the Contemporary. Parking is $12. I think they are experimenting with a bus from the Premium Outlets, leaving there at 9:00 and leaving Legoland a little after 5:00.

Paying $312.00 for a family of four (including parking) to see a bunch of plastic blocks and a few lame rides for ONE DAY seems a bit ridiculous to me. It would be cheaper to add park hoppers or the water parks 'n more options. More entertainment plus very little time to get there.

That's Disney's plan. Once they get you, they want to keep you. They know how much the average family spends per day at Disney (above and beyond the tickets), so that's why they keep the incremental day cost so low.

I actually agree with your "non-Disney" plan. When we're in Orlando, it's either all Disney or no Disney. We had annual passes last year, so for the past year it's been all Disney. We plan on getting annual passes again in about a year, so we'll take the next year to enjoy some non-WDW things in Orlando (and also take a trip or two to DL).

We actually are planning to do the same thing in January. A seven day stay at Disney, and sneak off one day to go to Legoland. Yeah, it's a good sized extra chunk of change to take a day over there, but DS (10) and I are both Lego affectionados so it's too good to pass up. It's not like we're headed to San Diego anytime soon.

We have friends that went today (they bought annual passes before opening day!) and several more going in the next few weeks. We will plan based on their feedback, but expect that it's a one day park. Don't expect much in the way of rides.

It seems like every other trip we spend a day doing something off site... Sea World, WWoHP, and now Legoland.... That's all the time we really care to spend at these places. The idea of doing a trip of just non-disney attractions is too painful, not to mention expensive. I can't imagine buying multi0day admission to Universal/Seaworld/Legoland being anything except much more expensive...

We grew up in Central Fl, and still have family there... so Disney is the main draw for us anyway :rotfl:

I was also looking that up tonight. My son was the one wanting to go and after we looked at the map (on their site) and read about the rides he thinks he would rather do an extra day at Disney.

Also park hours there are 10-5 so that means you still have the night to find something else to do... Seemed pricy to me.

There is a discount that allows you to buy one adult ticket and get one free. Go to legoland.com/pepsi and use the discount code 11090601. The tickets do not expire until May 31, 2012. If you need two adult and two child tickets you have to do it in two transactions though. You print the tickets out.

This is the dilemma my family has. Because of what it costs our family to actually get down to Florida, it is a much better value for us to just do an exclusively WDW vacation. It is too pricey for us to combine the cost of WDW park tickets with another Orlando area theme park like Sea World or Legoland. We also have to take into consideration added expenses like transportation to/from those non-Disney venues since we would rely on Magical Express/bus transportation while staying onsite with Disney. It would be more practical financially for us to go to Orlando to do a non-Disney trip (Sea World, Legoland only), but the Disney lover in me finds that hard to think of doing at this point :). We are considering a Sea World/MNSSHP trip next fall as a way to do two days at Sea World and still get our Disney fix. We would love to do Legoland too, but Sea World has been a must do for us for awhile now. Maybe in between WDW vacations we can do Legoland/MVMCP or Sea World/MNSSHP trips

It is all in the eye of the beholder. My son loves Legos. Going to Legoland is very exciting to him. Something new to explore that we haven't done before. You may think it is ridiculous but not everyone shares your opinion. I think it is ridiculous to spend the dollar amount they ask for at the deluxe resorts with a view but that doesn't mean I put down what other people do. To each his or her own but that is no reason to call it ridiculous. If there wasn't an audience they wouldn't have built it.

Exactly. I really want to do a trip over to Universal for a day or two as well but price wise it is crazy. Disney gets me there on the ME so I do not have a car. I have DDP so I really don’t want to eat off site and extra days cost next to nothing. It is pure genius.

I have done three trips and not made it over to Universal just because I would need to rent a car, buy tickets and pay for parking. I could get mears - but I hear it is not worth the effort.

In the end I just stay at Disney, but with Lego land, Universal and NASA I really need to get offsite for a few days, but it is just so inconvenient.

This is a forum of opinions. In my OPINION it is RIDICULOUS. In your OPINION the price of deluxe resorts are RIDICULOUS. Pot, meet kettle.

If you are thinking of going check their calendar! During all of November and the first two weeks in December they will be closed two days a week.

OP, when buying one or two day tickets, it always feels that way. The savings is in the multi day tickets. If you were going for LL, you would feel funny about buying one day tickets to WDW. The perception of value is why we gave Universal four full days on our two trips, heck it's why we gave WDW ten park days the first trip, because the perception of expense goes down with the more days and the more fun you have!

I recently have heard just wonderful things about the LL in CA, so I think your views on it might not be with the majority of people who have gone to LL.

Always very important with LL. We almost went to the CA park one lazy day in San Diego only to find out it was closing at 5. Since it was already late in the morning, we decided not to go.

Yep, this is how I feel and what we are facing like I mentioned in my previous post in this thread. I agree that it is truly a genius business strategy on Disney's part. We know this and it is still hard to break away from it :lmao:

I just tried this but it didn't work. I put two tickets in my cart, applied the code, and there was no discount shown. Any suggestions?

Never mind; I figured it out! The free ticket is the child's ticket. I have a 10-year-old and two teens so at least the youngest will be free.

AAA is running promotions as well. Our mid-Atlantic AAA is offering adult tix for $59 and child tix for $51. But mid-South AAA seems to be offering a much better deal. Does anyone know if you're a member of a different location for AAA if you can get the mid-South deal if you buy the tix from AAA in Orlando?

I just tried it again and it works for me. If you put one adult and one child ticket in the cart it adds it up and puts the total price. After you apply the discount code, it takes off the price of the child ticket.

Sorry I just saw your second post!

Thanks for the tip on the special offer. In addition to the free child ticket, the adult price is $10 less than the regular price. So Disboards just saved me $130.

I've never visited any of the 'non-Disney' parks. ***sigh*** I was hoping to simply incorporate Universal Studios and Sea World into my Disney "oriented" vacation. But darn it -- I want those US perks -- that are only given to onsite guests. I heard the accommodations aren't to shabby either. :goodvibes

All Disney or no Disney -- this pretty much sums it up for me. Disney makes it SO hard to leave. I also cringe at the thought of being so close to WDW -- without a visit. I will not plan for Legoland - US - SeaWorld - Busch Gardens - Beach - and Disney. That's just too much. :upsidedow

I couldn't agree more -- just the thought of a non Disney vacation gives me a headache. I always book my WDW trip online -- everything I need from ranging from the resort - park tickets - shows - dining - transportation is right at my fingertips and it only takes a single click to book a fantastic vacation. I was going to visit US and 'others' this year, but with the Sea World expansion underway - I think will hold off until 2013 - for my non-Disney vacation. :goodvibes
