Leg brace question

My DS had knee surgery a few weeks ago and is still in an immobilization brace. We fly Tuesday and I am concerned what the TSA folks will ask him to do. My instinct is to have DS carry his brace through security and then go to the men's room and put it back on. Any one with any experience or suggestions???

TIA

I'd have him walk through with the brace. They will probably wand him, it's not a big deal. I'd just hate for him to aggravate his leg by not having the brace on of you hit a long line.

After wearing more knee braces than I care to think about I say wear it. I agree with ducklite in not aggravating it! Good luck. :wizard:

Will he need to wear it on the plane? If so, make sure you have seats where it can be accommodated. I injured my leg once while on a Disney cruise and had to wear a velcro-closed cast that went all the way up to my thigh. ATA was great about it...they changed us to the last row in the plane, with no one in the middle, because my leg wouldn't bend at all. That allowed me to leave it out straight. Thank goodness the flight wasn't full; otherwise, I don't know what we would have had to do (maybe buy a seat for my leg?!).

We are flying out of a small regional airport (only has 4 gates) so I don't think the lines would be a big issue. He feels they will ask him to take it off which was why I suggest leaving it off until we get past security. I have no idea if it would fit over his jeans (and too chilly here to be leaving in shorts). Thsnks for the advice - and we will stop going through MCO and ask the TSA's the best way to proceed for our return trip.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!
