Lecellier reservation for 4 but showing up with 5?

Don't worry about it. Go and play the old I thought I made the ressie for 5 instead of 4 game. You will get in.

The 5th person will have to stand throughout the meal, and will be required to clear the table and do the dishes afterward.

YOu can certainly do this but adding the fifth person would change the table situation in the restaurant. Instead of a table for four, they would need to now have either a table for six or put a table for four together with a table for two. It's not impossible but you might have to wait a while for those options to open up.

Or you may not.

The problem is the table situation. A four top can fit three, but it can't fit five. And Le Cellier is overbooked by design because they figure they'll get SOME no-shows. By taking a table for six, you are taking SOMEONE ELSE'S table for six.

They may overlook it. Or they may not. With Le Cellier your chances of not getting seated are probably higher than at other restaurants because they are so consistantly overbooked.

Thanks guys. I wouldn't of known. I was told that WCC can be a table for 3 or 4 or 5. Didn't know it wasn't the same. We don't want to do the wrong thing.
Thanks
Chris

I dont think you will have a problem at all. considering all the empty tables i saw a L'cellier during my dinner im sure they can accomodate one more person

We are a family of 5 and were sat at a table for 4 with a chair on the end. Unfortunately my children look much younger than they actually are and get treated as such frequently. The person on the end was uncomfortable but the pretzel bread made it all gooooooooooooooood.

That would seem to be the exception rather than the rule. Showing up with more people than what the ADR is for could easily subject you to a much longer wait.

If everyone in your party is on the small side, you might be able to fit at the table for 4. I would personally call and change my ADR to reflect the proper number of diners.

That is correct. Showing up with extra people, you could have to wait for a table to fit. Don't expect to get in right away. I would try to change the reservation to reflect the correct number of people.

Thanks for the warning. If we're ever in this situation, I'll have to make sure they know my DH is the extra person.

Yes, you can come with another person. However there will be a longer wait..there are a few tables that are four tops which are used for this situation.Happens all the time, don't worry :-)
