LeCellier 2 credits starting in March ?

I personally think that the steak dinner at Chef De France is better than Cellier and I hope they don't change that to a two table service.

I've heard that they're supposed to remove some tables from the restaurant to make it more intimate and the dinner menu will be more upscale to include better cuts of beef. I'm sure the prices will reflect that. With removing tables, I'm sure getting lunch will be more difficult, but the lunch menu will probably not change much.

I agree, this is all WEIRD. Why would LC be the only restaurant in Epcot to require 2 TS on DDP and for dinner only?!?!? I feel like it may fill up and be packed for lunch and then empty for dinner, it doesn't make much sense to me.
I hope its all a rumor, but allears announced it on my FB page this morning.

Any ideas or rumors on lunch menu changes? My main reason to eat dinner is the Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes which are not offered for lunch. LC is my favorite restaurant & I would hate to lose it in my ADR rotation. Any ideas on if they will offer the potatoes for lunch when it changes to a Signature at dinner?

Well, much as we like Le Cellier, don't think I'd waste 2 TS credits to have dinner there. It's not THAT good, and it is definitely missing all of the key ingredients that might warrant getting a "signature" status as a 2 TS meal. The menu is not extensive or unusual...the ambiance/decor is not extra special...the location is not spectacular...there's no entertainment. Just because it has limited table-space does not make it a signature experience, IMO.

Yeah...what she said! :thumbsup2
Don't get me wrong, love it...mostly the pretzel bread though...

OMG, here we go again, lol. So this is a re-hash of a re-hash of the rumor that's been bouncing around for months? Actually thought this was new info. Now I see the FB post is quoting an article from two months ago that plainly says "RUMOR" in the title of the article, and mentions all the variations of the rumor in the article.:rotfl2:

LOVE the internet...just have to keep reminding myself "consider the source" and dig a little deeper:surfweb:, lol. It reminds me of that childhood party game "telephone" where the first kids whispers a sentence into the ear of the kid next to him, and that one repeats to the next and so on all the way around the circle of 20 kids. By the time the last kid repeats the sentence, it's usually completely different than what started. Course, with the internet, the party circle is about a million kids:laughing:

Le Cellier (Canada/Epcot) to require 2 Dining Credits (Disney Dining Plan) for dinner only - beginning March 1, 2011. Lunch remains at 1 Dining Credit.

www.allearsnet.com

ahhhhh well at least lunch will still be 1 credit!

Well, we've been sort of expecting this for the last month or so. Now I expect it will become very difficult to nap a lunch ADR there while it will become much easier to secure a dinner ADR. Given the choice between Le Cellier or Yachtsman Steakhouse (about a 15 minute walk away) I'd choose Yachtsman for 2 TS.

Two threads on this subject have been opened and merged, seeing as an unofficial website has made a public announcement about this subject.

That is not an annoucement from Disney itself, and some of the merged posts give some information about where this news came from. Take it as you will.

Any new threads on the subject will be merged here, or be closed and referred to this thread.

There is also a continuing thread on the Rumors and News board:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't think of any Signature Restaurant that is open for lunch. I seem to think that they are dinner only. I need my cheese soup and Le Cellier breadsticks including the pretzel bread. I don't care so much what they do with the rest of the menu. Last December we were paying OOP and I just ordered the soup and a caesar salad (& got about two bites from my DH's steak.)

Brown Derby and Cinderella's Royal Table are open for lunch. Both charge 2 credits for lunch.

I apologize if this has been posted already, but on Allears it says that effective March 1, 2011 Le Cellier will charge 2 table service credits for dinner.

It would be a PR nightmare to assign signature status only to dinner. I assume if they were going to go 2 credits, it'd be for both meals. Otherwise, can you imagine the confusion? And what would it's listing be on the website? Signature (Dinner only). Very very confusing.

Raise the prices, increase the portions, and make it signature for both meals.

I agree. People get confused over simpler things. It sounds like they will have two totally different menus. That's the only way I can imagine justifying the difference.

OP here. I was not trying to spread rumors when I posted. I saw it on Facebook this morning from AllEars and thought it was interesting how lunch would be 1 TS and dinner would be 2. Even CRT is 2 at breakfast and lunch so I thought that was interesting.
That was all I was interested in, how that was going to work. Sorry if I started anything. :goodvibes

I agree with some of the others and would take this announcement with many grains of salt. It just seems impossible that it'll switch the way that they're suggesting.

The source that they're quoting is a source that I could easily write for and announce in a 'news' article that TDC Nala will be the next President of the United States.

The 'news' article is basing some of their info from a rumor thread here.

Not saying it's impossible, but I wouldn't believe it's gospel truth until Disney makes an announcement themselves.

What doesn't make sense to me is starting it mid-year. You would think that if this is a move Disney wants to make, they'd make it effective in January so that it could be accurately reflected on the DDP brochures/restaurant listings for 2011.
