LeBron James

Still don't get this move, in no way is Lebron getting back to the finals with LA.

So far the big winners in Free Agency have been the warriors. Lebron didn't go to a team that could challenge them. Houston lost one of its best defenders in Ariza and he could shoot. OKC is still the same OKC.
I don't think the Lakers are done so we'll see.

98 percent of the Board hates him or could careless but for the few that do, where do you think he will sign.

here in Akron where so many people are close friends with family and friends (Im not one of them) but they are usually fairly reliable. Like when he left Miami the nations sportscaster said no way he comes back to Cleveland but here in Akron we know it was about100 percent he coming back . So saying all that here is what Im gathering from listening

80 percent Lakers
20 Percent Cleveland

He doesnt want to play in Philly or Houston ( I personally like them teams and city but he doesnt) . Only way Cavs get his is if they end up with Leonard or George , but both them want to go to LA

I was late to this thread, but you called it.

I love the LeBron Grandma Fan Club. They are so loyal that I am sure they will all become Lakers Fans.

So now Lebron gets Lance Stephenson as a teammate??? He and the Ball’s will drive Lebron nuts.

He has to have received assurances of more moves to come. Still, he would have been much better off in the east. I guess the allure of LA was just too much to resist.

Alson word on thew streets here, is he wanted his son to go to St V, but he had a fallen out with coach, and he already in rolled in a private School in LA. And his father in law is telling people he will play in LA.

My son told me last night (this is the first time he's mentioned it) that in the final days of school, Bronny (LeBron Jr) was telling all of them that he wasn't returning to their school. LeBron (Sr) had definitely had a falling out with the St. V. coach, so his son wasn't going to be going there even if he stayed. The other possibility remaining was for him to go to Revere, their school district, where Larry Nance's kids all went, but that was unlikely. The fact is, the high school basketball scene in LA blows away Cleveland and I do really think a lot of this decision was for his boys as well as setting himself up for retired life in Hollywood. Because it's an odd basketball decision, barring some major changes to the Lakers roster.

We are Pacer fans also, and my DS 13 can't wait to see how Lance annoys LeBron. I am sad to see Lance go. I know he is a loose cannon, but he makes me laugh.

I found the Lance signing humorous, but after dealing with JR Smith the past few years, how much worse can Lance be? I"m wondering if Paul George regrets re-upping with OKC so quickly. And now the Kawhi drama starts......

The Lakers have lots of cap space. There’s room for at least one more high salary player, and maybe two more if they can arrange a trade where they retain Bird rights.

should be a great fight to see who wins the east, I think there are 5 teams ready to make that step Boston, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Indiana and Toronto .Any one of them teams are on the verge to being great, but probably only one will be

So glad to see Milwaukee in your list of contenders!!

I have to agree with those who mentioned him going to LA for his kid. I think that would be a huge factor in his decision.

I'm a SoCal native and have been a Lakers fan since birth. Through good and bad times...and there have been plenty of bad times these past few years.

I am excited to see Lebron come to LA, but am not looking forward to all the bandwagon fans who have already come out of the woodwork and are going to cause Staples Center to be chaos.

Personally, I think he came for both family reasons as noted above, and also business reasons - he has a production company and is thinking about the long term (post basketball) - LA is where the opportunities are. The Lakers come with a source of pride and history that no other team except perhaps Boston carries. I think we'll be competitive, particularly in light of the moves made today, but am not one of the fans expecting a championship next year. I'm just glad we'll be in the playoffs again.

I agree. As much fun as he is to watch basketball wise, I admire his business sense even more (except for the disaster that was 'the decision'). Amazing move by him to buy part ownership of Liverpool FC just before they made the Champions League final. It has been also said that he has lived only off endorsement money and has saved the entirety of his salary. Impressive behavior that deserves to be rewarded with more business success in order to encourage others in a similar position to follow in his and Jordan's steps, and not fall into the Iverson money trap.

Demarcus Cousins signs with Golden St, OH MYYYYYYY, its odd that George and Cosin both wanted to play in LA, and now Lebron is there, neither of them do, Ans for the record, Lebron moving for his family is bull, LA (while much more fun) is not a better place to raise a kid, then Akron, thats nuts, Lebron made this decision to further his Hollywood Career

I heard one possibility why he wanted his family in LA is because his kids are basketball prospects, and the HS basketball scene in LA is better. Not sure about AAU possibilities though. LeBron James came to California to play AAU ball for the Oakland Soldiers AAU team. Not sure if that's still allowed.

That Oakland Soldiers team had several future NBA players. That photo has LeBron with Kendrick Perkins. They also had Leon Powe and DeMarcus Nelson. I think after that they started placing geographic restrictions to prevent creating super teams.

Word is that the HS that Bronny will go to in 2019 already has the sons of former NBA players attending (Scotty Pippin's kid and one other that I can't remember now). That's what LeBron gets in LA - there's nothing like that in Cleveland.

He also gets to work with the poster boy for turning a basketball career into post-playing business success, Magic Johnson. I think he went to LA to be in LA and work with Magic more than play for the Lakers.

no no no no,you misread, I said despite him leaving he gave us a championship and "the letter" still gives me a sense of pride. You assumed that on your own cause it does seem a bit conflicted reading it today. But that was not my intention, if I were in his shoes I too would go live in the bright lights of LA

Late to respond. I was really just searching for your feelings on how it was playing out low-key, not assuming anything. I clearly know from our discussions - and read in that post as well - your admiration and respect for him. Understood that part of your post. I was only asking your feelings about/behind posting his words on his return to Cleveland and what that meant for you, only that part.

But got it. :goodvibes:thumbsup2 Yes, yes, yes!

My apologies.

Good news here on a much smaller scale :drinking1:rotfl:
we've re-signed Fred VanVleet. For the first time I am actually thinking of buying a jersey. After all these years, all the stars here over the years.
His story is exceptional. And I love his play. His grit.

In other news, some Kawhi Leonard rumours here.
