Leaving Tuesday 11/27 From Philly - Delays?

Not being a seasoned traveller, I was wondering what the impact of the weather in Philly for this Tuesday will be as far as flight delays. We are supposed to leave Elmira,NY at 545am, get to Philly at 645am, then leave for Orlando at 8am. The Elmira weather is looking good, but Philly is iffy.

Right now they are saying Philly will see a mix of rain and snow, then changing to all rain by noon. Total snow will be less than an inch. Will this type of weather produce any significant flight delays and should our flights be OK?

If we are delayed, would we get delayed in Elmira before getting to Philly? And if we are delayed in Elmira, what would the chances be of missing our 8am connecting flight if the delay originated from Philly? Wouldn't that just put everything behind there?

(Yes, I'm a worrier - it's what I do best. We have had this surprise trip planned for our daughter's 13th b-day for almost a year. She still has no idea...)

Stop worrying :)

That type of forecast is vey insignificant here in the northeast.
We've flown out of Buffalo, NY in near blizzard conditions and managed to arrive in Orlando 10 minutes ahead of schedule

Have a great trip

Sounds good to me! Just have never experienced a flight delay in the winter and didn't know how bad it would have to get to produce a delay. BRING ON DISNEY!

I fly out of PHL regularly. The plane that flies from PHL to MCO at 8am spends the night in PHL so it will have a covering of snow and will need to be de-iced. The de-icing process at PHL will cause takeoff delays as they can only work on 5 planes at a time.

Count on delays out of PHL and keep your patience. Good luck.

Would they hold us in Elmira until Philly is ready to go? Does this kind of weather (rain/snow mix) usually translate into delays?

Probably not likely. With the number of planes waiting in line to be de-iced, the runways will not be busy and inbound traffic will probably not be held up.

Note that your flight into PHL will arrive at the commuter terminal F which is not connected to the other terminals. Take the bus to terminal C, do not exit security.

I second that and also want add go straight to the gate(other than a restroom stop). If there is a chance of pushing off on time they may start boarding around 7:30( we've taken that flight on 2 of our last 3 trips). It's rush hour at PHL and they want to get in line for take-off ASAP
