After a week at WDW, we are heading home today. I just wanted to share with you all some of the things we observed, and perhaps can help you later on in your travels.
*We used Garden Grocer. Overall this service was good, but please make sure you tell them over and over again you are at Kidani. Our groceries were at Jambo house, which took a while to track down (not the greatest thing with hungry kids to feed). However, bell services here at Kidani were so helpful with getting them to us, it was barely a hiccup at all.
*The bus service was great! At Kidani, you are the first to board and the first to get off. So, it is likely you will get a seat to the parks. And, even if you have to stand on the way back to the hotel, at least you are the first stop!
*Our stay was during the week of Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Overall, I'd say the parks were more crowded than we expected in January. Every day we'd see large amounts of groups of teens from Brazil, as it is their summer there. There was also a cheerleading competition going on. Not sure I'd go this time of year again, but the weather was nice!!
*As for Kidani itself, the room was fantastic! We stayed in a 2BR dedicated villa, and it was just off the elevators. Our views of the savanna were great, and we were able to see all the favorite animals. To be picky a bit...the room wasn't the cleanest I've even seen. Some of the dishes looked like they had either food or dishwasher detergent residue left on them. The bathtub in the master bedroom had a bit of a tub ring, but nothing was too bad where we requested a new room or anything.
*Dining out is a bit of a challenge. We ate breakfast in our room every morning, which saved us both time and money. We didn't eat at Sanaa, but there is room service available at all times of the day. The small gift store in Kidani was very nice. The prices of food items was very reasonable. Frozen pizzas you would find in the grocery store for $6 were $7.99 at Kidani.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with Kidani as our home resort. We plan to stay at Jambo house this Thanksgiving, and I'm interested to see how staying there will compare. If AKL Villas are not your home resort, please consider staying at least once...you won't regret it!!
So sad I'm leaving...but off to one last meal at Boma for their amazing breakfast buffet.
P.S. If you are in a pinch, there is pizza delivery. It's with an outside restaurant and it was very good. Ask at concierge and they'll hook you up!
