I am so excited for our upcoming Anniversary trip. Anniversary trip means a no children trip to DLR!!!! :cool1: So I was reading in some post and I have some questions. Are AP holders blocked this week? How do you find out? How bad are the crowds right now? We are going to be there all day Thursday-Sunday afternoon and we do want to do the parks but also want to take it easy. Should we be able to get everything in? We made a ps at Goofy's kitchen for breakfast. I cant go to DLR without a character meal but how is the food compared to Mickey Chef? I am very excited for the weather mid 80's sounds blissful compared to the 100 plus with 75% humidity here in Dallas. Is ridemax worth the $18 to do for a weekend trip? I am so use to planning our WDW trip to the T bc we are traveling with two toddlers that DLR is all new to us. This is the first my dh has ever been to DLR and I havent been back since I was 9 years old! Has anyone gone to the long beach aquarium? Is it worth taking a drive up there for it? Thanks Advance for all of your help!

Anniversary trip DLR at the Anaheim Hilton August 13-16, 2009

Happy Anniversary! :) I hope you have a great trip! I wanted to try and answer a few of your questions. The SoCal Select annual pass is blocked out until Monday the 17th. The Southern California annual pass is blocked out until Sunday the 16th. The Deluxe pass is blocked out Saturday the 15th, and that is it. I will be there actually for my birthday, hope I don't destroy your experience.. ;) The information on blockout dates, for future reference, is on the Disney website - just "compare annual passes."

I was here this week last year and it was not as crowded as it has been on other days. It definitely is nothing like going during the off-season, but it was fairly pleasant. Someone on these boards posted a thread recently saying it wasn't too crowded. Block out days will, for the most part, not be lifted yet...so I think you are in the clear.

We have always been able to get a lot of stuff in - mostly thanks to Ridemax! I highly recommend it for short trips. Not everyone will, but I think since you are unfamiliar with Disneyland, it would be a godsend.

I have heard only good things about Goofy's Kitchen. I am going there Friday night so I will be testing it too (can't remember the first time I went). They have a lot of options and I hear breakfast is the best!! I'm just waiting for Sherry E to chime in on this topic... :)

Can't help you with the Long Beach Aquarium though, sorry!

Since it will be just you and your DH it will be so much easier getting around and doing things quickly. Just get there before the park opens and use FP as much as possible and you should be fine.

Also, I've been to the Long Beach Aquarium a couple of times. It's nice but it's only about 60-90 minutes from my house. I think it makes a nice day trip for locals or if you happen to already be in the Long Beach area but for me I don't think it would be worth making a special trip out there to see it if I was on a "big" vacation. The Monterey Bay Aquarium is a lot better but it's not in Southern California.

We arrive on the 16th so it ought to interesting.

Thank you for answering my questions. We are so excited to DLR! My husband was just looking at other things to do while we are in Cali. I have talked about doing Universal but I dont know if it's worth it for the day? I prefer to stay DLR and just relax and take our time touring the parks. I hope everyone else has a great trip. I just booked fantasmic dessert box as a suprise to my dh!
