What can I take pictures of at the port in San Pedro? Don't want to be arrested or anything! :rotfl2: Are there certain areas it's ok to take pictures?

And also how does customs work? Do you have to save all your receipts for every souvenier and give them a list or just alcohol and cigs? I am clueless.

Thanks! Leaving tomorrow!

 Sorry, I have no answers..

Just wanted to wish you a MAGICAL CRUISE

I remember seeing your posts..Enjoy it.. :goodvibes

Customs is pretty much an honor system. You have a form to fill out stating if you have purchased items in excess of $$$, sorry I can't remember the amount. Pretty much if you stay below the limits, then you just complete the form, hand it to them and are on your way.

BTW, DCL will explain how to do the customs forms and the CMs will be glad to assist you if needed. I can't remember but there may be a sample form in the Passporter.

They have a session in the Walt Disney Theatre on the last day, just before the kids graduation show. Just about everything will be explained there. But...

They play the talk on one of the channels on the television in your stateroom through out the rest of the afternoon, evening, and night. You can have it on as you get ready for dinner, pack, etc. No need to spend an hour in the theatre on the last day listening to the talk.

Most important thing - be honest on your customs form. You really would have to buy a lot to go over the limit. But if you have to pay duty, then pay the duty. It is not worth getting caught trying to sneak something in.

Have fun on your cruise! :cool1:

You can't take any pictures once you have crossed into the terminal doorways. This includes as you walk to the outside of the terminal to cross the gangplank when you board the ship for the first time.

Customs docs are given to you the night before you debark. You have that form with you when you go through customs. The limit for shopping in Mexico, including anything you purchase onboard ship, is $800 per person. You should keep your receipts and have them together, just in case. We have never been asked for them, but this is a good way to keep track of your limits. You may also have to produce them, so have one person in your party keep them in one place.

In addition to the 800 dollar limit, you are allowed two liters of duty free alcohol apiece. You also have an additional allowance for tobacco products. No Cuban cigars are allowed in the U.S.

Heavy duty fines could be imposed on you if you tried to bring any fruit, plants or unpackaged meats into the country. Leave that fruit platter back on the ship when you leave.

Have a great time. I'll love to hear of your adventures when you return. :sunny:

Thanks for all your info! Knew I could count on you all! Thanks for all the Magical wishes! Between you and my friends and family calling to wish "Bon Voyage", I finally feel like we are going on vacation! (our first in 20yrs!)

You cannot take pictures/videos or talk on your cell phone while debarking the ship - collecting your luggage and going thru customs.

In Port Canaveral, I was being picked up and my ride arrived, so they rang my cell phone. It was in my pocket and I had a porter helping me collect my luggage in the baggage area. I reached to answer my cell phone and he quickly said, "Don't answer it, just leave your phone in your pocket and don't answer it." He said it really fast and under his breath like I was doing something bad by having my phone ring. He then went on to say that the Customs and Border Protection do not allow cell phones in the baggage area and they could confiscate my phone and/or stop and question me.

So, no camera/videos or portable communication devices.

As we were about to get on the ship, we had passed thru metal detectors, and everything, I asked if I could get out my camera and take a picture now, and was told NONO
I thought I would just ask.
Didn't have a bad time going thru customs at all. One thing I thought was different was on my East Caribean everyone had to go to the Walt Disney Theater to show your ID's and BC, and we didn't do that at all on this West Coast Trip. But they did check each of my kids BC's very carefully, and asked each one where they were born in what city, and when. I guess I am glad they check so carefully. they said, many illegals try to get into California.
