Leaving on Leap Day!! - WDW Trip # 6

I knew there was something I forgot! I read the Imagineers Field Guide to Epcot the other day when I was at Jury Duty. I didn't like it as much as the AK one but if you are into technology and architecture then you would like this book a lot. It was very in depth. :thumbsup2

MA stole all the snow-sorry. ;)

And I second pre-packing.

I don't have enough clothes to pre-pack with! :sad1:

I too don't have a ton of clothes...except T-shirts. So I started w/ those.

I then start with stuff I know I won't use before the trip--toiletries, extra batteries for camera/SD cards, waterproof container for TL, TR journal etc...

I also type up a packing list (my first time doing this).....

I also type up a packing list (my first time doing this).....

I have always done a packing list - I can't survive without one! When we went back in 2005, I made a packing list but then packed without it to see how well I could do.... I failed miserably! I forgot sunscreen, batteries, my confirmation paperwork, and our park tickets!

My problem is always that I OVER pack. I bring things like tweezers, bobby pins, nail clippers, nail files, my own hair dryer, shaving cream (which I never use), a whole value size tube of toothpaste, my ENTIRE make-up bag (weighs about 7lbs :scared: ) too many pairs of socks and too many shoes. I always wear flip flops the entire time, but I pack a pair of sneakers, a pair of socks for every day of the trip, and a pair of slippers :confused3 Don't ask...I just do what the voices tell me to ;)

This year, I will be bringing 1 pair of flip-flops and my Crocs and THAT'S IT! And NO SOCKS!! No tweezers, no bobby pins, no nail clippers, no hair dryer, and only basic make-up so that people don't think I'm early (or late?) for Halloween. Of course this will be the time that I actually need a pair of tweezers... My dentist gives out free trial size packets of toothpaste so I'll be taking some of those :woohoo:

And I've decided that I'm bringing a spare, empty plastic zip lock bag and saving EVERY SINGLE receipt so that the day we leave, I can go down to the gift shop at POFQ and ship all of our stuff home. I wanted to do that in October but I threw out the receipts, thinking I wouldn't need them :headache:

I'm an idiot...I know

Hmmmm, I bring all that stuff too AND I was going to bring bobby pins this time! I was thinking that if it rains, they will help keep that darn hood on the poncho ON my head this time!! We shall see. The only thing I'm cutting down on is the makeup. I always bring my own hair dryer because my hair is naturally VERY curly and I need a strong one to blow dry this mess straight.:rolleyes1

At least I'm not alone in my obsessive over-packing!

Bringing the bobby pins, in your case, is a good idea. I never thought of that. I use them because my hair has a lot of flyaways but I've found that using spray or gel works much better....and hats are even better! So don't worry, my hair is beasty too! I've given up on blow drying it straight when I'm in Florida...it's much to humid and the second I step outside all my hard work is undone.

Oh! your babies are so cute. I am a fellow zookeeper of a muttly crew :thumbsup2

I used to overpack myself. I still do a bit. But I got sick of lugging all the dead weight (stuff I didn't use) back across the country.

I always do laundry on vacation to reduce on what I have to pack. I actually like doing laundry on vacation, is that funky?...It's a nice break from the touring. Although, I find many times I'm the only guy in the laundry room:confused3

Aww thanks!! It's nice to meet a fellow "zookeeper!" Glad you hopped on board my PTR! :welcome:

Yeah I have enough trouble doing laundry at home...there is no way in heck I'm washing clothes on vacation!

BTW I'm starting to feel like you - I was just organizing my itinerary and I happened to glance at the park schedule for DHS on March 4...they are closing at 7 that night (:confused3 ), which mean Fantasmic starts at 7 and we have ADR's at 5:20pm at Mama's. Eating anywhere in WDW always take at least an hour and if we want to get good seats for Fantasmic, we need to be out of Mama's way before 6 so that we can hightail it back to the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater, and I can stand in the mob...ahem...line...and make The Lumar go get us ice cream from Hollywood Scoops. Sooooo the point of my story is that I need to change my ADR :faint:

Dear lord I hear you on the overpacking..I'm attempting to pack for a weekend away, and it's going, um, humorously.

My theory on the overpacking is: If I don't pack it, I just know I will need it. I think it must be the "mom" in me. They always seem to need something. My next trip I won't have to because it will be just me.

Yeah right, I will still overpack.

You should start some kind of support group.

I should!!! We can all put in our signatures that we are a member of OPA (Over Packers Anonymous)

MA stole all the snow-sorry. ;)
Is it snowing up there? It's been snowing here for a few hours although not much accumulation. It's supposed to turn to rain overnight. :sad2:

Sooooo I made a giant leap today and requested a quote for my first tattoo! Disney of course....

My second one (assuming I work up the guts, and funds to get this one), will be Thumper...naturally :thumbsup2

I also made and even riskier move and called Disney Dining to change my ADR for Mama Melrose's :scared: Aside from the CM (Rina something or other) being totally rude, I was able to cancel my 5:20 ADR and replace it with a 4:10 ADR, with less trouble than I thought. And she actually picked up IMMEDIATELY...I wasn't prepared for her to answer the phone so quickly.

I was reading the Unofficial Guide for 2008 earlier today and I have to say that I was totally in the dark about the trials and tribulations that people go through to get ADR's at CRT! People synchronize their watches down to the second! They call in for days before they can actually make their ressie just to memorize the prompts and make sure they haven't been changed! It's madness! Clearly, we will never be eating at CRT. I'm just not that motivated. :confused3

My cousin called less than 180 days out and got a great time for CRT for lunch. I think since they expanded the Character experience from just breakfast to all three meals, it's a bit easier to get. I believe breakfast ADRs are still the golden ticket and very hard to get. I, too, won't ever be eating there again unless I can get in by walking up...:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I've eaten there several times when it had a regular lunch....

Hmm....maybe making an ADR for dinner wouldn't be so bad :scratchin We don't have dinner scheduled for our first day at the MK which will be March 2. Maybe I will call Disney Dining and see if we can get into CRT for dinner that day....

ETA: Ehh...maybe not. I just checked the menu and nothing on it really jumped out at me.

I don't think it's a big loss.

Cute tattoo design. You just have to do it! I want one of Tinkerbell pouting, I just can't find a picture. I like her "attitude".

My daughter wants to eat there too, just because it's in the castle. She will have to go alone. I really have no interest in it.

I called well after my 180 day mark and was still able to get Breakfast ressie's at CRT. Maybe it's because of when I'm going.:confused3 I was very surprised when they said "yes" because of all I've heard on the DIS.

I'm definitely going to get it! I'm going on Thursday night to put down my deposit and make an appointment! I can't wait! :hyper:
