Leaving on Leap Day!! - WDW Trip # 6

Hi there! Just found your pre-trippie and I am loving it! I'm in the same boat with nothing to do until closer to the time we go. I keep trying to find stuff I should do for our trip but no dice.
Can't wait to read more.

OK it's 10:30pm for us East Coasters so I can officially say there are only 54 days left!!

We made a little trip out to the Bronx Zoo today. The original intent was to get there around 5 or 5:30pm for the Holiday Lights show (basically the Electrical Water Pageant with more things in it, and on land) but I convinced my parents to leave earlier so we could actually walk around the zoo. I haven't used my camera since October's WDW trip and I needed something to practice on.

Well, of course, it's like the crappiest picture-taking day ever...overcast and just blah. Plus it's the first weekend in January so there was hardly any attractions open, and nothing that was open was outside (except for the African Wild Dogs.) So the indoor pics came out less than great. Here are some of my pics:

African Wild Dogs (they were SO cute, I could have sat there and watched them run around all day!) :

Funny story for you....when my brother was deployed in Africa, he found an African Wild Dog puppy that had been abandoned, or orphaned, and she used to hang out with the guys while they were on duty at their posts. Well, my brother, having seen the Die Hard movies, one too many times, decides to name this dog the same name that Bruce Willis calls Jeremy Irons toward the end of the third movie. For those of you who have never seen it, or just simply have no idea what I'm talking about...think of a bad cuss word that starts with the letter F, then add "head" to the end. That is what my brother named this dog. :sad2:

We were indoors for all of these so the pics are a little dark:

I do believe this is a tree kangaroo but I could be wrong:

The window is extremely filthy, and the darn thing moved at the last second so you can't see her face, but I love this picture simply because you can actually see the black spots on a black leopard. Beautiful animals!

And here is a picture I took of the Holiday Lights. Notice how this particular example has NOTHING to do with the holidays:

In actuality, this was one of the only sets that was in an area near a street lamp and that added light helps when taking pics like this, so this is the only one that actually came out.

So, all in all, it was fun time - it's no AK, but it was nice to get out of the house and do something.

Speaking of AK, I just finished reading the Imagineers Field Guide to Animal Kingdom and it was fantastic! If you are kind of on the fence about Animal Kingdom, this book will make you a believer. And if you're like me and you already love AK, this book will help you to see it in a whole new light. Dinoland actually has a storyline! I can't wait to read the other Field Guides now! The books are a little intimidating at the beginning because they give you a glossary right up front with all of their technical terms, but once you actually get into the meat of the book, it's not hard to understand or anything. Read it! I swear you'll enjoy it!

#1) I'm no longer working from home - today was my official first day back at the office. I know, a lot of you are going to say "I would kill to work from home!" But let me tell you, it sucks. At least in my line of work. I was literally strapped to my desk (via a headset) all day, and I work for a call center so I HAVE to be on the phone...I can't just wander around doing household stuff. Plus, I'm here alone all day. So after being home since May, I decided I had enough. I was glad to be back at work with my friends :thumbsup2 [/quote=
This is great! I don't think I would like to stay home all day and work either. I'm sure it will be nice to have people to talk to since walls can't talk back.

#2) I got my new computer monitor today, thankfully! Since I had to bring my work computer back to the office, if my new home PC monitor didn't come just in the knick of time, I wouldn't be able to come on the DIS! :scared1:

You don't dis at work?? Seriously are we not suppose to dis at work?? Uh Oh!!

#3) My new crocs came in yesterday! They are the Prima style and SO comfortable! I think I'm gonna get a couple more pairs in different colors!
I'll have to check these out. I am lovin the crocs. They aren't very pretty, but man my tootsies were comfy!!

#4) Our statement for our trip came today showing a ZERO balance! WOOHOO!! :cool1:
I can't wait until mine is zero, lucky you!!

55 more days!!
Again, lucky you! I am having serious withdrawals. I am sending away for the new Disney DVD so maybe that will help???

I could get out of Jury Duty on Monday....
Guilty!! They are all guilty!!

There were a few days where it was extremely convenient to be home...I was able to fold laundry and put it away, I just couldn't go wash any because the washer and dryer are in the basement and my desk was set up on the 2nd floor. And the day of the Aerosmith concert was good too, because I was able to take a shower and get dressed on my lunch. And the day before we left for WDW I was able to pack our suitcases. Plus, I saved a lot of money by not having to put gas in my car and not having to buy breakfast and lunch everyday. But seriously, it was just getting to be too much. There was no one to talk to all day, except on the days Lumar was home from work, and on those days I was just annoyed because he would be all over the place and distracting me.

You don't dis at work?? Seriously are we not suppose to dis at work?? Uh Oh!!

When I was working at home, I would DIS all the time from my work computer. Now that I'm back at the office, I can't because I sit right next to my supervisor...and she's one of those supervisors that minds everyone else's business for them but can't even do her own job the right way, know what I mean?

I'll have to check these out. I am lovin the crocs. They aren't very pretty, but man my tootsies were comfy!!

The Prima style are really cute...I actually wore them to jury duty today. They are comfortable and not too far from what is trendy now. I'm actually going to buy another pair, in brown, this weekend after I get paid.

I can't wait until mine is zero, lucky you!!
Well, in all fairness, we paid off Disney, but now we owe Discover Card $1600. Well, actually let me correct myself: LUMAR owes Discover Card $1600. I paid off my half of the trip, but we had to have it paid off completely by January 15 and I knew that he was not going to have the money in time. So we charged it and he can pay it off before we leave. That gives him 4 paychecks with which to pay it off.

Again, lucky you! I am having serious withdrawals. I am sending away for the new Disney DVD so maybe that will help???
It WILL help! I was going to order one the other day but we decided to just watch the videos of the Boo To You Parade and Hallowishes that we took in October. It also helps that I have an entire iPod dedicated to Disney music only. It includes the theme music for SpectroMagic, Soarin, Boo To You, Hallowishes, Fantasmic, Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Carousel of Progress, Mickey's Jammin Jungle Parade, and the "background music" from Disney Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Main Street, USA, among others. Plus I have songs from Disney movies on there, including the soundtracks to all three PotC movies.... Would you consider this a mental disorder??:confused3

Guilty!! They are all guilty!!

I was actually hoping they would pick me for some kind of animal cruelty case, just so I could scream out "FRY THE [expletive]!" and actually mean it :rotfl2: But I actually got really lucky and sat in the juror's waiting room from 8:30am until 3:30pm. They never even asked me to come into a courtroom. Does it help that I tell them on my questionnaire that I'm related to attorneys??

And just so we are all clear, yes I am an animal lover and yes I sign all of those internet petitions fighting for animal cruelty laws and animal rights, and all of that, but I am not one of those crazy people that will spray paint your fur coat, or leave dead animals on your front porch. Those are not very good ways at getting a point across. Although I do hope Michael Vick and all of his little cronies rot in H-E-Double Hockey Sticks :upsidedow

Just found your report. count me in. i like your Bronx Zoo pics.

Hey Scott! Thanks for joining me!

I'm glad you like my pictures! :yay: I was so upset that I didn't get a chance to take more, and better quality ones...but at least it got me using the camera again before WDW!

Just any FYI:

It is currently 43 degrees here in CT.

It is 74 Orlando

:sad1:

I hope that weather holds up in Orlando

Yeah, you and me BOTH! I'm sure it will though! With the exception of the time I went in September :scared: , we've always been really lucky!

On the bright side, 43 isn't real bad for January!! Think positive woman!!

I'm positive that I don't want to live in CT anymore! Does that count?? :rotfl2:

So we had this prediction for a HUGE snowstorm that would supposedly dump 6-10 inches on us last night.

We have less than half an inch and most of it is just slush...not snow. So once again, the weather people have gotten me all excited for a day off of work for nothing. I can still see the grass in my yard! This is the worst snow storm ever. My philosophy is this: If it's going to snow, it has to close my job, otherwise it shouldn't even bother. Because then I get stuck driving to work with a bunch of idiots who think slush is the end of the world.

I got some more confirmation papers in the mail the other day! :woohoo: They changed my return flight time from 6:55pm until 7:05pm so I won't be getting back to CT until after 9:30pm on Sunday night. I'm SO glad I asked for Monday off, too! I have two $50 gift cards from Christmas that I'm going to use to buy some new clothes before I go away! I wonder if Crocs has online gift certificates? :confused3 I hope so - I'm gonna ask for one of THOSE next year! lol

You know, I found out the other day that the pool at POFQ will be closed during our trip? I'm so mad! The pool at the ASMo was closed when we went in December 2006 (not that I was going to go swimming, because it was like 50 degrees) but in March, it's supposed to be in the 80's and the darn pool will be closed! And yes, we can use the pool at POR, but that's not the point!! I hate it when this happens!!

46 days! Can I start packing yet??

we got nothing but rain in the city. I was so looking forward to some snow. I wanted to take pics in the park.
