I was told that strollers get stollen a lot in DL. I was going to carry our change of clothes and stuff in it. I was thinking now to just bring a back pack. My purse is just not big enough to hold everything. Is it a pain though to have the backpack with you. Do they let you have them on the rides? What is your suggestions to lug stuff around in. By the way do people steal out of the back of someones back pack. This is so sad that people have to do this to others. It is Disney for goodness sakes.

Thanks for all your help!

By the way my daughter is 5. I am not even sure if I should bring a stroller. I just thought since it is just me if she gets tired. I will be lugging her around. Anyone's input is greatly appreciated!

You can bring a back pack on all rides. GRR has free lockers to stash your stuff so they won't get wet. I wouldn't say "strollers get stollen all the time". But people have had stuff taken from their strollers while parked. We had no problem last month with stuff taken from the stroller, but really only left snacks, waters, diapers, etc. in it.

A stroller may come in handy for the end of the day, especially if you are walking back to the hotel.

Thanks! I shouldn't of said all the time. I actually care more about the stuff I am taking with me than the stroller.

We didn't have a problem leaving sweatshirts in the stroller, but others have. :confused3

We take a lock and lock our stroller in the designated stroller parking areas. Usually hook it to their chain posts. If someone really wanted to work hard and cause attention then I'm sure they could find a way to cut it. However we have never lost our very expensive double stroller this way.
i would reccomend putting your older sweatshirts in bottom. Food and water as well.
I thought you could leave packages you have paid for at the store in Frontierland and pick them up later too.
Always take your backpack with you. I see people all the time leaving store bags strewn accross strollers with purses, diaper bags etc.
Criminals go to DL too.

I wouldn't suggest the lock (unless you are locking it to another stroller so it is harder to take). CMs need to be able to move strollers, even in designated parking areas.

We put all our important/valuable stuff in our baggalini. When we have the stroller with us, we hang the bag on the handle of the stroller. Then when we want to go on a ride we just grab the bag and go. We sometimes leave sweatshirts in the stroller but we always bring old ones that we wouldn't be upset about losing. You might want to just use a locker if you're mainly going to be carrying around extra clothes in your backpack. If you have other stuff you want to have with you that doesn't fit in your purse you should look for a bag that is bigger than your purse but smaller than a regular sized backpack.

I've never had a problem with a stroller either but a thief can show up anywhere. What we do when we go to DL is pack things in the stroller that we wouldn't care if we lost......bottle water, snacks, sunscreen, etc. We also carry a backpack that we keep on the stroller while we're walking around that contains anything important. Then we just take it with us when we go on the rides. It really hasn't been an issue for us.

As far as having your backpack picked thru, really that could happen anywhere. I'd just say to be aware of your surroundings like you would anywhere else :)

W've never had a problem either. And we always take a stroller for DD. She was 7 on our last trip and she loved having it! She will be 8 on our trip on November. She way out grew our old stroller on our last trip and we just left it at the park with another family. I am considering buying a large jogging stroller from a resale store we have here. The stroller is $70 but they told me they will pay me $30 when I bring it back. That's $40 to have a good stroller to take her to and from the hotel. That's the biggie with strollers. Not needed as much in the park. But that walk back can be a killer no matter where you stay!

We always take a stroller with us and have NEVER regretted having it or had a problem with things being stolen. Like PP have said, it's nice to have a place to store your drinks, snacks, jackets, etc. And the evening time and walk back to the hotel is when you are so thankful you have it (esp. since you said you will be by yourself).

I have never done this but I think other Dis'ers have said something about putting a "fake" dirty diaper on your stroller to deter thieves.

We always take a stroller and (so far, 50+ cumulative stroller days in the parks) haven't had a problem. We simply don't leave anything in it that we would be upset about losing. Water bottles, snacks, diaper supplies, etc. have never been taken. We carry as little as possible into the parks, but anything valuable stays in our pockets or in our backpack, which hooks onto the stroller handles when we're walking around and comes along with us on rides. Regardless, it's always good to be cautious and alert to one's surroundings.
