Leaving if wait too long?

When I provide proof that I did show up I am just going to agree to disagree with you. It's for a no show fee. Just read the small print on my confirmation, it doesn't say anything about a minimum order, or an order of any sort, just not showing up. I showed up, so met their requirement. You may have seen it happen but it wasn't to someone willing to fight to the end
Highly unlikely that Disney would fight the dispute. It would be entirely up to them to prove the charge was valid. Does anyone REALLY Believe they would fight it. That is not at all in the spirit of what the no show fee is about.

1) Alas, the policy of No-Show means no-show for the meal, not no-show at the podium.
2) I know of two eateries that will not charge the penalty if you show up late with a good excuse.
3) I know of no eatery that will simply bypass the penalty if you do not eat.
4) However, it is up to the Closing Manger (the manager on duty at the eatery at the end of the day) to determine whether to charge the penalty.
5) Unfortunately, you are not there when he/she sits and looks at the no-show list.

NOTE: While working the Concierge Desk, I have had LOTS of people complaining about the penalty fee. When asked, they admitted they did not keep the ADR and walked off. Too bad. Even when they asked for my manager, they were denied a reprieve.

I have done this at Hollywood Brown Derby. We sat at a table devoid of even menus and a glass of water for over 20 minutes. We went back to the front desk and asked for the manager. We told him we were leaving and why. We also mentioned the CMs standing around doing nothing and gossiping among themselves. We were not charged and he was apologetic.

Something else to consider. We had issues with the wait to get checked in at the podium our last trip. First time this has ever been an issue for us. Not sure if it was a fluke or what.

So if you factored it that we waited on average 15 minutes to get checked in and then another 20 minutes at least before being seated, even with an ADR, it was at least a 30 minute wait every meal.

CRT was the worse. We waited about 30 minutes to check in at the podium. The line to check in was ridiculously long. Not sure what the deal was. I was actually afraid we’d be marked as no shows and charged, even though we arrived about 10 minutes before our ADR time. Then after checking in, we waited at least another 30 minutes before being seated.

it was at least a 30 minute wait every meal . . .

1) NOT AN ACCIDENT.
2) People were complaining they could not get ADR's at times they wanted them.
3) Disney needed more capacity.
4) So, they reduced the average table-time per reservation.
5) This allows more reservations per-hour, without actually adding tables.
6) So, more people without more tables means people will wait and ADR's will stack-up at the podium.

After you have been waiting for so long, ie. 30mins, 60mins, and then you decide to leave I am wondering where do you go? I am sure if you go some where else you are going to wait another 30+ mins so are you really gaining anything. Are you just leaving because of the lack of service? Just wondering

A few restaurants notorious for waits are California Grill any time after 7, Ohana...any time for dinner, Sci-Fi anytime about an hour after it opens, San Angel Inn is usually about 30 minutes behind.

All others are usually running on time, or have a minimal wait.

Once, we walked into a restaurant at our reservation time (LTT) and told them we would not be dining there (my mother came with us on that trip and as we were walking in, she commented that she could not wait for a glass of wine! I told her they do not serve alcohol and the look of horror on her face told me we should leave and find a resort restaurant to eat at). We were not charged on our CC.

We will punt. There are plenty of places to get food. There is mobile ordering while we get on with our day. We'll have snacks and packed pbj at all times. DH and I can last until later or subsist on snacks too. It is also just a concern about what we plan for 2 hours taking 3 or more. That's a big chunk out of a Disney day. The exception is a place my kids are dying to eat at.

I really don't expect it to happen, but originally asked so I knew what others have experienced. I just like to have knowledge before hand.

The longest we ever waited was at H&V for dinner. We didn't mind, as we were just ready to sit and have a break, but anything past 45 minutes and I will leave. If I got up at 5am to make ADRs 6 months in advance I am not waiting an hour for my table. I don't care about semantics. I don't wait that long anywhere.

Where would we go? Any QS around and with mobile ordering being available it won't take an hour.

We checked in a little early to every ADR the last 2 trips and we rarely waited even 5 minutes past our original time. I guess we are lucky. We don't make a ton of ADRs, though.

I would add Coral Reef and 50s Prime Time to the list of places that get called out frequently.

Coral Reef is one of two TS Ive never been to. 50's prime time used to be bad, but my last 2 trips, 2015 and 2017, we didnt have any issues. I think they got a lot better, or we got really lucky.

I also cant knock 50's for anything. Its probably my favorite memory of Disney ever. A waitress did something so super special for my daughter and the entire wait staff joined in. Its a LONG story but basically she was pouting because it was my husbands birthday and he was getting special attention "Happy Birthdays", cupcakes at restaurants etc.... Our waitress asked why she looked so sad. I told her she was jealous of my husband. Next thing you knew she brought my daughter an "Its my birthday" pin and special dessert just for her! She then went around telling every staff member it was my daughters birthday. They covered her front and back with pins and all sang to her. She was the happiest child on earth!

Glad you had a good experience. Cute about your daughter.

50s is the longest wait we’ve ever had at Disney at about 50 mins during our 2016 trip. We also waited 20 mins for our waitress to come back to give us our bill.

If the waiting is a particular concern, you may want to consider booking an ADR relatively early (i.e. 5pm). My family does that and never has a problem.

However, we are early risers.

Thanks for your input and experience. I think the only one of our ADR's we wouldn't wait it out (if over half an hour) would be an O'hana breakfast. I read on another thread reports of waiting up to an hour past ADR times and it has me worried. We have a 9:25 ADR and plan to check in about 9:00, and wish to make a 12:55-1:55 FP for FOP.
I was just at Ohana this morning... Showed up at 8:15 for an 8:30 as and seated by 8:35. They seemed like they had things under control and well timed.

Ohana breakfast is never bad. Its dinner that is brutal. Even if you have the first reservation of the night, they are always behind, even opening. Ive stayed many times at the Poly, 2 weeks at a time, and the lounge/lobby outside of Ohana is ALWAYS packed DAILY with waiting guests. I dont even consider a ressie there unless its my only plan for the night.

Only once have we ever waited an exceptionally long time for a table. That was a 7:25(?) dinner reservation at Coral Reef on our 2013 trip. Between the wait and the relatively slow service, we missed the 9pm start of illuminations which is one of our must-dos. As Steve Porter says, #NotaGreatExperience. Needless to say, we booked a patio table at the Rose and Crown for dinner at EPCOT on our 2015 trip to avoid that happening again. That being said, each restaurant is a little different. For instance, its not unheard of to wait at least 20 minutes to be seated at 50s Primetime Cafe, but it is well worth waiting for.

How did you book a patio table? I thought it was luck of the draw.

ow did you book a patio table? I thought it was luck of the draw.

1) You CANNOT book a patio table at any patio-style eatery.
2) You may ask/request for one at the podium.
3) But, YOU MUST agree to take any table available, or the podium person (aka: SEATER) can cancel your ADR.
4) If your name is called and you refuse a non-patio table, you can be turned away.
5) SOMETIMES, the SEATER will let you wait for a patio or favored table, but this is up to the discretion of podium person (SEATER).

That’s what I thought, but the poster I quoted said they did it so...I was just wondering.

I THINK THE EVENT WAS:
1) They requested a patio table.
2) When they LUCKED-OUT and got one, they thought it was due to the reservation.
3) Alas, it was not.
4) They just got lucky.
5) In fact, the patio request would not have even been listed in/on the reservation in Ala Cart (the dining ressie computer system).

CR is among the worst I think. Once that place opens for dinner, it falls behind rapidly.

'Ohana is brutal indeed. It starts out behind, IMO. This restaurant was on my family's "always" list, but my DD ( 'Ohana's number 1 fan) has decided we can drop it after the last fiasco. I can't say I am sorry that I do not have to fight like the dickens to get that ADR any more! LOL!
