This will be our first trip to HH. I had their activities sheet faxed to me and I have a few questions.

1. What is the Behind the Ears Tour? I know what it is at WDW but what exactly do they do at HH?

2. The Pinckney Island Wildlife tour starts at 9am. We don't move very quickly in the mornings on vacation. Is this worth getting everyone up and moving for?

3. The kayaking trip does not have a minimum age listed. It does have a childs price. Is this something a 5 and 7 year old can do (with us obviously). How rough is the water?

4. What is Picture the Magic?

Thanks!

Lisa

In regards to the kayak trip. I did it last year (late May) and absolutely loved it! I don't remember the water being rough at all.....there was just lots and lots of water. I saw a small shark (about 12" long), and a turtle (of course, fish). The highlight of the kayak excursion was about 5 minutes from the end of the trip.... our group saw a dolphin come up for air! I fully plan on taking my oldest DS (who will be 5 this June) on the trip the next time we are at HH (in 2004). Enjoy the experience!

1. The Behind the Ears Tour is a tour of Longview Island, where the resort itself is located. It tells a little about the construction of the resort and about the area itself. I try to do it every trip, just because I learn something new every time. (OK, so I'm a dork, I just love HH!)

2. Haven't done the Pinckney Island Tour yet, but it's always been something I've wanted to do. (I don't move well in the mornings either. I have not been disappointed with any of the tour/nature activities at HH, so I'm sure this one is great as well. If you do it, let us know how you like it; maybe I'll do it in a couple of weeks...

3. DD did the kayaking trip a few years ago. I would call the resort to find out for sure what the age requirements are and how the water is. I believe it just stays in the Broad Creek inlet, so unless there's a storm coming, the water is probably pretty tame.

4. Picture the Magic must be something new. I don't remember it being on the activity sheet in the past. Again, if you find out more, please let us know.

Hope this helped a little bit at least....

Last summer, DS8 did the kayaking and loved it. He was a bit tired at the end, but nothing that burned him out. The CM's had him and DH in a double kayak so that when he tired out, DH could take over the work. They stayed in the creek (it would have been a LONG trip to the Atlantic). When we've been there, the creek has always been calm.

We will do the Behind The Ears Tour again this year. I guess I'm with Disneyaholic -- I like to see if we can find out something new too. There were many things they pointed out we had passed right by. We found it interesting.

I think Tommy Towery posted something not to long ago with driving direction to Pinckney Island so you wouldn't have to take the tour through Disney. Try doing a search and see if something comes up.

Have a great trip!

We just went last week and really had our hearts set on the Pinckney Island Tour. However, although they did it the week beforehand, they didn't do it the week we were there. So make sure you're making plans based on the activities while you're there. But Brian gave us directions to Pinckney, and it is really easy to get to. Although they offered Picture the Magic while we were there, we didn't go because we didn't really know what it was. So please post about it if you go. And like others, I loved the Behind the Ears tour, and plan on doing it again. Our tour guide was Connie, who walked us around the resort and told us some of the history of Disney there. She also pointed out some Hidden Mickeys, showed us where Walt's picture was, told us who "Big Murgie" was, and why Disney HHI has red roofs. Lots of neat trivia-don't miss it!

Thanks for all the info, everyone. I will find out what Picture the Magic is while we are there. I'll also let everyone know what activities we ended up doing. Thanks again.
