Leaving diaper bag with parked stroller in parks.

I take a bag that I received from a trade show as my diaper bag. I then put a few diapers, wipes and a changing pad into a zip lock in it. That way I can grab the ziplock when heading into a restaurant or bathroom and I leave the bag on the stroller.
I did have someone steal my rain cover from my stroller while it was parked at the entrance of O'Hana. It was during Hurricane Ike in '08 and was pouring buckets. However the entire trip we never got rained on because the kids were either napping in the room or we were eating dinner while it rained. So while I was very annoyed that someone stole something out of my stroller - it was the best insurance policy I ever bought!

I cannot believe someone would steal a child's rain cover, no shame.

We've never left the diaper bag - but we keep the camera in the diaper bag. But we leave things with the stroller - baby carrier, changes of clothes, blankets and haven't had any issues.

We've gone to Disney World once when DS was 10 months old and to Disneyland probably over 100 times with my kids as babies and I have always left the diaper bag in the stroller and it has never been taken. I do not leave valuable though.

In the 7 years i've been taking my kids down the only thing i've had stolen from my stroller was a poncho that I had spread out on top of my DD's stroller to keep it dry as it was raining. I was not happy to come back from Tom Sawyer Island and find the poncho gone and my DD's stroller soaked. I have always left the diaper bag and I've been guilty of leaving my video and digital camera (by mistake) and even purchases at the stroller and not had anything but the poncho taken thankfully. Diaper bag always contains things that can be easily replaced and while I wouldn't be happy to have to either buy them at Disney or go back to my room to replace them, it wouldn't ruin my trip either.

Based on this thread it seems rain covers/ponchos & shower curtains acting as rain covers are the most commonly stolen items.

I once had a diaper bag stolen in a restaurant (not in WDW)!

What we have done is carry a park bag (stuff like cameras, wallets, etc.) and take that with us on everything. (It is a sling bag.) Then I pack a ziploc bag with diapers, wipes, and a changing pad. I throw that into the basket under the stroller and leave it there. It's never been stolen and it's really easy to just use that to change a diaper than look through a diaper bag.

Exactly! This is what I did, It's a great idea. Get one or two of the larger ziplock bags (i think they are the freezer ones?)and fill that with the baby essentials.... That way it is clear and any potential thief will know there isn't anything of "value" to take.... usually someone stealing a bag does that for the opportunity of their being something "valuable" in the bad.... this way there is no question for what is in the basket of the stroller!!!!!

I just leave a few diapers and wipes (in a baggie) inside of a gallon ziploc under the bottom of the stroller. I would replinish it every evening or at breaks at the hotel during the day. That way people could see it is just diapers. If there was a bag there, people wouldnt know if there is something valuable in it or not, and could take the bag ditching it later if nothing is in it. I put sippy cup, snacks in the netting pocket on the back of the stroller. We carry a sling bag with all of our tickets and money with us at all times.

Also, as a weird side note... maybe I am just lucky and (knock on wood) have taken my stroller and left stuff in it all over the place, not only at Disney.

Even places like Busch Gardens Williamsburg (we are locals so we visit weekly during operating season)

And things like festivals,etc. No one has ever taken anything I do use the clear ziplock bags and keep valuables with me, so that might be the deterrence, there is no "impression" that a bag is left and free to be taken.

Because it's raining and other people didn't think of it... so they take what is available.

I don't know... I just would never leave anything that I couldn't live without.

never had a problem with anything being taken from the bag/stroller. I have ran after my kid, leaving the stroller behind for a moment, come back and a CM had already wisked it away to the proper parking for strollers, and had thought someone had stolen the stroller... but in the end nothing was stolen.

and I have to wonder... with those ponchos/shower curtains how many of them may have just been wisked away via wind. I had tie and ducktape one one last time to keep the very light breeze from stealing it. if I had just draped it... I bet I would have ended up coming back to a wet stroller.

I read this in the Unofficial Guide book. The person in the book filled a diaper up with coke or something llike that and put the full, rolled up diaper in a diaper sack and tied that to the handle. And that is what DH wants to do with our rental stroller. We have an odd sense of humor.

Youngest DD was 12 weeks old on her first trip and had fallen asleep in the stroller. I had worn her in the carrier for most of the trip but my back was killing me on this particular day and so I had taken advantage of the fact that my other DD wanted to walk for a while and put youngest DD in the stroller.

I still had the baby carrier on as I knew I was going to have to pick her up out of the stroller when we parked it. Just as I was walking with both DD's to the stroller parking area, older DD was distracted by something and darted away from me. I was so worried that I was going to lose her in the crowd that I just pushed the stroller in to the parking area and walked away!

Luckily, DH had seen DD run away from me and had caught up with her. As he turned around to join back up with me, we both realized that younger DD was still in the stroller I about had a heart attack right in the middle of fantasyland.

I'm sure I looked like some kind of crazy woman as I went charging in to the stroller parking area and yanked my 3 month old daughter out of the stroller and I'm guessing anyone that saw me do it probably thought I was a horrible mommy. I actually FELT like the most horrible mommy in the world!

The whole event probably took less than 2 minutes but it felt like 2 hours. Needless to say, DD didn't leave the carrier for the rest of the trip and DH has never let me live down the fact that I "abandoned" DD at Disney World

We just carry a fancy backpack and it acts as our everything bag and we bring it on rides, to restaurants, and all around. Holds hoodies in case its cool in the evening, my DSLR bag fits in it, diapers and wipes. Hubby nearly always wears cargo shorts or pants with pockets and holds onto our room key and tickets, etc. I would ideally like something smaller for my next trip. Wonder if I can get my daughter potty trained by then?

Leave anything in your stroller that you wouldn't miss if it was taken. Just because your stuff hasn't been taken yet, doesn't mean that on your next trip you will be the unlucky one.

And with all the trash cans all over WDW, what sane person would leave a nasty diaper hanging on their stroller? Especially in hot weather? Most thieves are smarter than the guidebooks.

I had my shower curtain clipped to my stroller and came back to find it stolen... People make me so mad sometimes!! Just because they arent smart enough to think ahead and pack a rain cover, doesnt give them the right to take it from someone who was prepared.

We usually left the diaper bag in the stroller, with stuff on top of it so no one could see it unless they dug through. Camera bag - NO WAY JOSE! I'd be fine with leaving it hidden, but DH would never. Of course then I have to listen to him moaning and whining that hes the only one who carries it on the rides, its hurting his sholder, etc....

We use a stroller bag that holds a few diapers, wipes & changing pad in a ziploc so we can grab & go when we need to change DD. We also keep snacks & an change of clothes in there. We leave the stroller bag on the stroller at all times. We keep extra of everything in our backpack which goes with us when we park the stroller.

I like this idea, just have to figure out how to go about making a fake dirty diaper!!

For stuff I leave in the stroller I use Ziplock Big bags- the kind with a handle. They are clear which makes it easy to get thru security. Plus you can see at a glance it's only kids stuff- nothing of value. I also like that I can hang it on the handle of the stroller(maclaren)when I fold it for the bus and it's one less thing to juggle.
