We are renting an ECV for the first time this summer. I was wondering if I could leave a small bag in the basket. I don't plan to put anything of any real value in it, but it would be nice not to have to lug around the bag with our water and ponchos.

Is it save to leave something in the ECV basket?

Thanks!

Anytime you leave anything unattended in a basket you risk losing it. If it is not anything you would care if it comes up missing, then go ahead and leave it. If it something that you would not want to be without, then take it with you. I personally just place anything I bring with me in a small backpack that I place over the seat. This allows me to just grab the bag when needed and easily take it with me.

The only thing I will leave in the basket of my ECV when I'm not in it will be a poncho and a rain cover for the seat. Anything else I will take into the restaurant with me.

I leave a bag with water that we freeze overnight and have never had a problem. I would never leave anything of value. More then once I have heard people saying that their camera or wallet or other valuables was stolen out of the stroller or ECV or wheelchair.

well, this isn't a guarantee, but this is what I do:

I have a bag that I can lock (there are two zippered compartments and I use a small travel lock to scrunch up the two zipper pulls--when they're fastened together no one can open the bag--hope that makes sense). I then use a second travel lock to secure the entire bag to the ECV basket.

If someone really wanted it, then they would need to steal the basket to get it. They would probably look funny walking around WDW with an ECV basket in their hands.

I still don't leave cameras, purses, etc. in it. Mostly jackets and ponchos and sunscreen and water and stuff. But it's nice not to have to take it on rides.

We never leave anything like purses or cameras in the ECV. What we always do is take a bag that has a long adjustable strap on it, like a small duffel bag. Put the strap around the seat and leave poncho's and jackets in it. That way you have the basket free for other things.

Thanks! I don't plan to leave valuable things in the bag, but it will be nice not to have to take the bag on the rides.

I have left water mister fans in my basket. One year somebody took the batteries out of it, the next year they took the fan intself. I have also left a towel on the seat - never taken, soda bottles in the basket, or in the cup holder - never taken, a small "swim towel" to wipe the water off the seat if it rains - never taken. I've never left anything of significant value
