I always make sure my room is straightened up every morning before I leave anyway. No way do I want housekeeping to walk into a cluttered room.I wrap the used towels, washcloths, and mat into a ball, then wrap them in a clean towel, place them in the sink, and put the tip envelope right on top of them. That way there is no way the housekeeper can not know the money is for them. The funny thing is, one trip I came back to the room, to find the towels gone, but the tip envelope sitting on the back of the commode. She had apparently found it, put it down for a minute to clean the bathroom, then walked out and forgot it.
Even though I don't know the mousekeepers, I would be mortified to have them walk into our room and it be messy.
We are tidy people anyway so it really doesn't take long to do. I fold the sheets down half way and smooth the bed out, place the pillows accordingly and I fold all the towels and leave them on the bathtub. They are stacked in size order. Man I have a problem.
Is a dollar or two a day reasonable or is that too little? I don't travel much![]()
ENTIRELY at your discretion - typical is $1-$2 per person per night. How much should we tip?
Agree. Well, except since I stay alone I think $1 per night is chintzy for me - but I found (as recently as this week) that bills left on the bed ARE understood to be for the housekeeper. Money's always gone when I get back to the roomWe leave $1 per person plus 1$ and place it on the pillow.

Is it expected to tip the housekeeping services? I am new to planning a Disney trip and to the DIS boards. I've read about the envelopes etc. but didn't know if it was a widely expected thing that most people do.
Same here except I usually leave the money on the vanity next to the sink. Mine has also always been taken no matter where we are.![]()

In general, we always tip housekeeping no matter where we are staying. It's the same as tipping your server at a restaurant. That having been said, whether or not you tip anyone who has performed a service for you is entirely at your discretion. I'm sure that not everyone tips, so do what you think is right.

My son is 16, do they have a policy not to take from kids, though he is kind of big.
