Leave room tips

We've always printed out the mousekeeping envelopes to leave a room tip every day. I don't have the link anymore.

I really don't want to do that this time. Plus, even though the envelopes were in english and spanish, several days at the GF they didn't even take it. Must have spoken another language. We felt bad.

I know they won't take money that is left out in the room. And if we leave a note with it, but they can't read it, how would you indicate it's a tip for mousekeeping? There should be some universal picture that indicates "this is your tip, please take it". Any ideas?

Thanks!

I always put the money in envelopes with "For Housekeeping. Thanks" written on it. If I don't have an envelope, I write the same on a piece of paper and fold it over the money. If you put it on a pillow, there shouldn't be any question. We do this where ever we travel.

I just generally tip once at the end of the stay--that way they know it's for them. I think there'd be a lot of confusion about money left out while you're still there and they'd prefer to be safe rather than sorry and not take it in case it isn't meant for them.. know what I mean?

I always tip on a daily basis since the housekeeper is not the same everyday. I always leave the cash tip on top of the comforter at the foot of the bed. I have never not had the tip taken - anywhere.

Same here except I usually leave the money on the vanity next to the sink. Mine has also always been taken no matter where we are.:flower3:

Take that little card that says something along the lines of "the room was prepared by..." and set it on top of the cash on the table in the room. They took the money everytime I did that.

The only bad part of tipping at the end is that the mousekeeper that may have been cleaning your room most of the week is off that day or assigned a different area.
We tip daily and sometimes they do miss the tip, I have found that if I leave the envelope on the pillow it's rarely left behind.

We tip on a daily basis, both in the morning and for turndown service. In the 15+ trips to WDW, mousekeeping has always taken the money. I leave it on the sink with a Thank You note.

I have been leaving a daily tip on the room table with a note that says, "Thank You/Gracias/Mesi." I figure that by using English, Spanish and Creole, just about any Mousekeeping person ought to get the message. They have collected the tip every day. (Last time I made the mistake of doing only one end-of-stay tip, not realizing that staff may change from day to day.)

Exactly what we do... that little card is the reminder that someone is taking care of the room so we just leave the money under it.

When we stayed at AKL in November, I made all the cutesy little mousekeeping envelopes. We placed the envelopes out in what I thought were places they would not be mistaken as "our" money, but when we returned to the room.....envelopes still there. Next day...same thing even though we moved the envelopes to a different location. We did this each day of our stay, but they were never taken. When we checked out, we left behind all the envelopes. I feel bad if those cleaning our room daily didn't receive a tip, but I felt like I did everything I could.

I just searched "mousekeeping envelopes" online and printed some from one of the sites it led me to.

We have never had an envelope NOT taken!!! Maybe it's because they see these ones all the time. Maybe it's because of where we left it -- prominently, away from our stuff? I'm not sure why, but they have always taken their tips.

Sometimes DH writes a note on the envelope asking for something (like more towels) and we always get that, too. I'm not sure that language is the problem, but I don't know what is.

I would never leave money out, since if I were cleaning the room I wouldn't know if it was for me or not.

IMO leaving it with the mousekeeping card they leave is a good idea!:goodvibes

I let my daughter decorate plain white envelopes with stickers and I wrote Mousekeeping on front. Then in each of the four corners surrounding "Mousekeeping" I wrote thanks in four languages - Thanks, Gracias, Danke, Merci. The envelopes were taken every day

We did leave the mousekeeping envelopes on the bedside table and I think three or four days of our stay they were left there.

Once the money was taken and the envelope left - we thought that was funny.

This time we will take the ideas of both using the "this room was prepared by..." card AND the tip and place them ON the pillow. Thanks for those suggestions.

I always leave a tip in the fun envelopes at the front of the sink. I don't leave stuff on the counter, so it doesn't get lost in the clutter. They haven't been left since I started doing this. If they leave me a towel animal, I'll put it on the edge of the sink holding the envelope.

I always make sure my room is straightened up every morning before I leave anyway. No way do I want housekeeping to walk into a cluttered room.:rotfl: I wrap the used towels, washcloths, and mat into a ball, then wrap them in a clean towel, place them in the sink, and put the tip envelope right on top of them. That way there is no way the housekeeper can not know the money is for them. The funny thing is, one trip I came back to the room, to find the towels gone, but the tip envelope sitting on the back of the commode. She had apparently found it, put it down for a minute to clean the bathroom, then walked out and forgot it.
