Least wait time... FP or Single Rider?

I read someplace that single rider lines move like lightening and that you can practically walk onto any ride with a five minute or less wait... true?

DH, DD, and I are going next month (for the first time) and I'm thinking of different strategies. What is your opinion about FastPass versus Single Rider? There will be several rides DD and I are not interested in and I'd like DH to ride, but quickly :)

Thanks!

Not all rides have single rider, but for rides DH will probably ride alone, it's usually easier to ride single rider. Plus you don't have to wait and go back.

Since 3 of my 4 favorite rides in DCA have singles lines, I use those and save my FPing for the TOT. GRR is probably the quickest to get on with the singles line. I think 10 minutes is the longest I've ever waited and it's usually less than 5 minutes. CA Screamin's is pretty fast too. Soarin's can take a little longer if it's crowded. A lot of people use the singles line there. With any of these, go up to the CM at the beginning of the line and ask for a single rider pass. They'll hand out the pass and direct you to the way in for the singles line. Also, Splash Mountain in DL has a single rider line and since it's not that well known, there's never a wait. When I've used it, I'm usually on within a minute.

On a recent trip, we had three fastpasses for Soarin' and five people in our party. The odd two out opted for single rider on Soarin', and they ended up on the same "flight" as we had. I also saw lots of single riders for other rides. I think faster or as fast as fastpass for most things, but I'm not basing that on lots of experience.

DL: Splash Mountain
DCA: CA Screamin'
Soarin'
Grizzly River

Unfortunately I think DH and I are going to be riding a lot by ourselves so this is helpful.

Very cool about the single rider lines! Those will come in handy for me in October!

Thanks for the single rider line information. I'm psyched that CA Screamin' has a single rider line! Last time I was there (2001), it didn't have one. I used the single rider line for Soarin' & Mailboomer and it worked out great.

I agree that SR is faster than FP. The only exception might be Soarin' - I have waited up to 15 minutes there as a Single Rider. The others though are always a walk on. It is very cool :earsboy:

for rides that only one person wants to ride, I agree that single rider is best.

This may be obvious but the single rider line means that you give up the right to ride at the same time as the rest of your party. Sometimes it works out that you are in the same "ride" sometimes there could be a few minute gap where the first rider will have to wait for a while at the end of the ride. I've seen a few families go into near meltdown at WDW because of this!

Also, I'm a sentimental type. The first time experiencing a ride like Splash Mountain, I want to be sure and be with the people I came with. To ooooh and ahhhh together and get that first group photo as we splash-- but all subsequent rides are fair game for fast pass or single riding.

Can you use single rider if you're doing baby swap? Dh and I like to go on the big rides, so we use baby swap a lot. Since only one of us is riding at a time, does that count?
TIA!
