We are hoping to try Skippers Canteen the first night of our trip, and have BOG for the last night. We would like one more dinner in MK on DP- in case there is a MNSSHP. We don't like Plaza's menu, so are between Tony's and Crystal Palace. We have had both (Crystal Palace last year and Tony's a few year's back). Crystal Palace was uncharacteristically nasty, but I also recall Tony's to be blah and just not delicious. Which is the lesser of those two evils for September? I'm thinking blah is better than nasty, but maybe we just had an off night at CP. I'm not finding a lot of reviews for CP dinner. Anybody have recent experiences with either of these places for dinner? BTW, we already have O'hana a non-park night, and there's nothing else on the monorail line that we feel compelled to leave the park for. (If Disney would just release the party dates....and there wasn't one early Sept...we might just leave the park for dinner.) :yo-yo:

We love Liberty Tree Tavern. Is that not an option?

Keeping in mind that I like both CP and Tony's, if I was you, I would not go to either one based on your own feedback. Once you refer to a restaurant choice as the "least offensive", it is clear that you do not like either one and plan on suffering through the meal. I would either head over to a monorail resort, WL, or Fort Wilderness for dinner, or I would choose a CS restaurant in the park. I would never pick a restaurant solely for convenience if I knew my family did not like it.

Why don't you eat at a counter service? We like cosmic Ray's, it has a good variety. You could use that table service for breakfast in the park if you can snag an adr or add it another day.

Its a long shot that there will be a party that night, but if so, we'd only be entering the park at 4. Plus, I am the picky one- DH and DD would eat either with no complaints (but I am the one making all the ADRs, so :rolleyes1). We've left the park for dinner before, but if possible, would prefer to stay. I do enjoy the ribs at Cosmic Rays, so that's an option. Do they stay open on party nights? I didn't consider LTT as I've read their dinner described as a Stouffer's frozen meal. That is actually one of the few places we've never tried at WDW.

I know you said you would not care for the monorail restaurants, but any of them would be better than CP, Tony's, The Plaza or LTT. And you don't need ADRs for them now, you can wait to see what Disney decides to do about early September. I've never had a problem finding GF Cafe or Kona or The Wave for dinner within a month of my visit.

I don't like to waste any of the party time with a TS meal. I'd eat a CS meal and get back to the party activities. Cosmic Rays and Casey's are open during the party. I believe Pinocchio's is as well. If you want a TS meal that day, book a TS meal for lunch at a resort.

The subject line made me lol! We've given CP 2 chances...not fabulous either time. I've never been to Tony's so can't speak from experience. We are tentatively planning on Pecos Bill's on party night. I agree with the poster above that said that they didn't want to waste party time at a TS. Also, we have been underwhelmed by the food in the TS locations at MK thus far. Not worth the expense IMHO.

If you are not planning to enter the MK until 4 PM I would have a late lunch somewhere else, either at the park you'll be at earlier in the day or a resort and then just have snacks or a light CS meal in the MK. We would not waste our money or dining credits on a place that is the "lesser of two evils."

If I needed to use a TS credit I'd do LTT for lunch, whether there's a party that night or not. It's a la carte, the food selection is very good, and you could have the best dessert at WDW, the justifiably famous Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. Problem solved!

I would go to a monorail resort. The Kona Cafe is very good as is the Grand Floridian Cafe.
