Least expensive direct cost?

Yep. That's why Disney is being backed into actually asking less money for points at one of their resorts. I believe this is their first time in history. It is not being done out of the goodness of their hearts, rather to make a bad deal not as ridicously bad as it could otherwise be.

True, Disney never reduces prices on anything. I still think they could have kept it the same though, so it's a bit odd, there's some reasoning behind it.

I wonder if they are wanting more direct buyers, to force up the resale prices. If you think about it, if no one is buying direct, they can't ROFR anything and have no influence whatsoever on the price, which I suspect they think is too low. Drop the price, people start buying direct again, they ROFR again, pushes prices up?

Vero is a beautiful resort though!

I'm sure it's great and worthwhile staying there for those who want that sort of experience. I am not at all saying it is not worth buying into. Just that if you want you purchase only 25 points with the sole intention of getting in under the direct rules, adding on at Vero, while cheaper upfront, will come back to bite you. Those points are not as cheap as they seem.

I 100% agree Ben, if you want the best value do not buy Vero. The dues increase compound as a percentage, people under estimate how much more that will cost over the years if we take the base dues of SSR and Vero and add 5% on each year.

I was pondering this thought of first time reducing prices. My first thought was they they have although they didn't do it as a list price decrease but did it by the incentives which back in 2008-2010 or longer were constant and effectively price decreases because there always were incentives after the first month or two of direct sales. Then I started thinking about the previous price of VB and I've decided I have a hard time considering this a true reduction as less than 5 years ago they were selling VB direct for $75/pt. That they raised it to $115 from $75 - THAT was insane. A 53% increase! That they are dropping it to $100? That's still a whopping 33% more than it was just 5 years ago. It's been a "sold out" resort for years. Prior to this upcoming price increase I don't think they had done such an increase to any resort but probably would need to look back at some of the other increases in 2013. Yes, technically it will be a decrease but I'm personally not counting it as one because they went nutso on the increase to VB in March of 2013.
