Target has the leapster 2 right now for 49.99, but TRU will have the original leapster for 29.99 on black friday. Can someone help me figure out if saving 20.00 on BF is worth the hassle, or is the leapster 2 worth the 20.00? Or should I just get the didj, which is on sale for 39.99 this week. My kids are 4 and 6. I was thinking a didj for my 6 y.o. and the leapster or leapster 2 for my 4 y.o
thanks!

Thanks for asking this question. I'm wondering the same thing myself. I hope someone can give us an answer.

The Leapster 2 has the abilty to go online and get more enhanced versions of the games you buy. I am getting one for my DD5 for Christmas and was recently wondering the same until I asked on another forum I am on.

I hope that helps

recently, this was asked.. a quick search would have yielded this thread..

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2333156&highlight=leapster

oh give me a break. Really?

what is the problem with people on discussion boards always pointing out that searches could yield results. obviously if I had the time, or the inclination, to search for it, I would not have posted the question.

unless you're a moderator, I would recommend that the thread police take their business elsewhere.......

Ya know...the person who gave the link did give a link. Didn't just say "do a search". Gave info for the future AND a link to more information.

Pretty kind of that poster, I'd say.

OP, remember that Leapster 2s can play all the normal Leapster games as well as the ones made "for" the L2.

yes, but if the person only wanted to give a link, they could have written something like, 'this thread might be helpful', rather than 'a simple search'.......

this has been a common theme, not only on this discussion board, but others I have read. When people write things, the tone they may be trying to construe does not always come across....so it would be nice if people could make an effort to be considerate of that fact.

discussion boards are so people can DISCUSS things....who cares how many threads there are....someone actually commented that there was already a thread with a coupon posted.....who cares if there are 50 threads, a coupon is a coupon is a coupon...and thanks for taking the time for posting it.

and one more thing before I step off my soapbox. This is a DISNEY board. Where the cast members are kind. And the energy is positive. I am personally sick of all the negative energy floating around something I USED to find so positive.

OK, deep breath, and stepping off box now......

what is the problem with people getting upset when someone types what I did. I simply pointed out that a simple search (under 30 seconds FWIW) would have yielded an appropriate thread with the same info.

typing "a simple search" rather than "this thread.." reinforces the fact that there is a search function, in a polite way. Discussion boards ARE to discuss things, but these are my issues:

1) if this had been asked before, chances are that there would be MUCH MORE valuable info in a previous thread. Let's say its a popular question that was asked 4 times. in one of those threads, there are links to specials, coupons and price comparisons that is 5 pages long. instead of ASKING AGAIN, and waiting around for someone to post something, that isn't as indepth of info as those other threads (that takes less than 60 seconds to search for), why not do a simple search prior, see if the info is RELEVANT, and if not, post a new thread, or continue those threads??? Why must everyone who has a question, just post a new thread, when there is a greater chance the question has been asked and answered in depth. I'd rather post what I did so the person can A) get used to searches, and B) see more info, quicker than waiting around for a response.

If you look at the dates, it took 15 hours for the OP's question to be answered.. by me coincidentally.. Once I saw the question, it took 30 seconds to find a similar thread that had info on the difference of L/L2 units. So you'd rather have the OP wait over a day (if I didn't at least respond with something) for info, than to say, "hey, a simple search would have shown you this."

I too am a member of various boards, some similar in size, some smaller, some larger, based on post counts and members. I was a moderator at one also, and was termed "Lord of the Search" as I was able to find almost anything searching, and I wasn't afraid to tell people to search.

that said, if its prevalent in other boards with people doing the same thing, then it goes to show many others have the same pet peeve. To be honest, the other day I saw FOUR posts in a row on the MindFlex game..., on any given page, there are at least 2 threads asking the same question. On another thread that has twice as many members, the mods there, have as Stickies and as headlines, the fact people should search prior as chances are info was already posted on the exact question. and I don't think I need to post a smiley face everytime so you can see i'm not being mean. Read my comments, then move on. if I was typing "hey you're an idiot for not searching" that is one thing. I didn't do that though did I?

Again, this goes back to the comment I made previously.. many times for common questions, the answers were given in depth, and there is good info in those threads, that doing a quick little search will give more info, faster, than waiting for the same folks to respond (if ever). I don't have a problem with new threads, and if the question isn't relevant to a quick search for threads, then by all means, post it.

you cna be upset, you can think its not "positive," but whatever, that's your issue, not mine.

to the OP, I hope you got your answer.. I am going to skip the TRU special, as I didn't like the looks and the pen in the front. i'd rather get the L2, which I can download items and looks nicer. We have another Leapster product where the pen and cable are on the front and I hate it. If I don't find it prior to Christmas, then I'll get it later on.
