I was wondering how busy Leaky Cauldron and Three Broomsticks are for lunch. We will be there 3/14-3/16. I had read horror stories about waits when HP first opened at Universal. Are they still that busy? They don't take reservations do they?

Yes the waits are still long in both sides for HP, but Hogsmede tends to be a bit slower than Diagonal Alley. Neither restaurant take reservations and the dates you are going are during the spring break time. I actually went around that time last year and we couldn't get in to the three broomsticks. It was packed all day.

That's what I was afraid of. Luckily, it wasn't a must do thing for us. I'll just plan to eat at some other QS on those days. Thanks

If you plan your day where you can eat at a bit of an off time like 2 or 2:30 you may have luck eating there.

That might be too late for us, since we will hit rope drop or early entry. We usually don't eat a big breakfast.

They change to lunch pretty early at 3 Broomsticks, at something like 10:30, so if you're hungry for lunch at that time you could go then.

We'll be back in in March from the 18th to the 25th and one of the only things my 10 year old has asked for is to eat at the Leaky Cauldron on his birthday. We have a reservation somewhere else for his birthday dinner so it will have to be breakfast or lunch. Call me crazy but I think we'll manage one of the two meals. Either that or he will see the line and change his mind.

I think I'll have better luck with breakfast.

This may sound mean, but I haven't really mentioned them to my son. He would say he would wait in a long line, but he would be a real pain about it. Since we haven't been before, he doesn't know what to expect. I did promise him a wand, but I explained that it might not come from Ollivanders or be part of the choosing ceremony. I'm trying to temper his expectations.

Good luck. I would try breakfast. I've read that it's good.

last year at the 3B's, we didn't want breakfast but lunch.

breakfast was advertised to end at 11:00 and lunch to start then.
we arrived at 10:30 which is the time that lunch is being set up.

it worked fine for us as most there for breakfast could still order another half an hour and was not crowded.

very short line for us to do the lunch menu.

the TM said they do that half hour period where they can start lunch and still finish up with breakfast.

hopefully, that system hasn't changed for this year.
