We have our resort and tickets already paid for. So we pay for food OOP.

We have not been to LeCellier in 5 years.

If we are not on the dining plan, and are 4 adults (DH, DW, DS age 19 and DD age 16) - Should we still make an ADR for LeCellier ?

LeCelleir does book up fast.
Is it because it is a good deal for families on the DIning Plan - OR -
Is it because the food is very good and the ambience is so nice ?

Please help is decide if we should spend $160 on a meal at LeCellier ?

LeCellier is a pretty good steakhouse. If the choice was $120 somewhere else or $160 at LC, I'd choose LC.

We also pay OOP, & choose the signature restaurants over LC for a few dollars more. Now that LC is going to signature status, the quality may improve to where the other signatures are. If so, we'll start going there again. At this time, it's definitely not worth the price OOP compared to the price of much better quality at the signature's. Naturally, this is all just my opinion.

Our Le Cellier dinner bill was $120, not including tip for 2 adults and 1 child -- appetizers for the adults.. our entrees were the filet and NY strip, and we had dessert. The steak was good but didn't wow me. The chocolate whiskey cake was darn good. The cheese soup was gross. Nothing else impressed me. We were on the deluxe DDP so I didn't faint...

In comparison... our bill at Flying Fish Cafe was $168... for adults, I'll say that's about $20 more per person (adult) and well worth it.

Over LeCellier, I'd also pick Chefs de France $92 (lunch prices). I'd even pick Biergarten or Restaurant Marrakesh over Le Cellier... less money than Le Cellier, food good, and the added entertainment gives it a bonus score for us. Coral Reef was just as expensive as Le Cellier ($114 for lunch) and the NY Strip steak was just as good as LeCellier's.

You can check out my review (with pics).

Just be aware that as of March 1,2011, Le Cellier for DINNER is 2TS CREDITS PP.Lunch will remain 1 TS credit pp

I don't know that many of the Disney restaurants are really worth what they are charging for dinner these days. Although my food at Prime Time was delicious last month, it certainly wasn't worth the price I paid for it. At Le Cellier, I tend to get apps or an app and side, then dessert, because I love their maple creme brulee but I don't have room if I eat a regular entree first. I also tend to book TS for lunch instead of dinner, which is the more economical option. So for me, it's worth it.

If you haven't been for a while, and you really want to go, I would go. Only you can decide if it's worth the price or not.

Would you have an issue paying $160 for the 4 of you at a place like Outback Steakhouse or any other chain steakhouse of similar quality? IMO, LC is not much better than an Outback Steakhouse and I personally think Outback is a cheap excuse of a steak. If the quality changes when dinner becomes 2 TS credits, maybe it would be worth it at that point. Until then I wouldn't spend my time or money there.

You are much better off paying OOP at Yachtsmen or Shula's if you are in the mood for a good steak.

Is it worth it? If you were talking to my DH, and we were not on the DDP, then he would say absolutely, 100% yes. This is one of few of his favorite restaurants in Disney. Don't get me wrong, he likes a lot more Disney restaurants, but when we are planning our trips there are only a few restaurants that he asks I get ADRs for and LC is one of them (we always do lunch too). As for me, I like LC but I would much rather spend the credits, or money, at the Signature restaurants. I love the mushroom fillet at LC but I am more in love with the Cheddar Cheese Soup/pretzel bread and the Chocolate Moose dessert and that to me is not worth the price that we have to pay for it. With that all said, if you have never been to LC before and are wanting to try it out, I say definitely get an ADR (if you can) because I believe you should try something at least once and if you don't like it, then don't go back :goodvibes

If you are paying OOP and want steak that is worth the money, especially since you are an all adult party, go over to Shula's at the Dolphin. It's about a 10 minute walk from Le Cellier.

We love it. We always pay OOP. They have the filet and NY strip (our choice) at lunch also and you save about $8 pp. We really didn't notice that much difference in their size from the one you have at dinner.
With a cup of cheese soup and that yummy pretzel bread it is more than enough IMO. We also split the chocolate "moose" (splitting it is enough after eating the rest).
I think they serve lunch menu until 3:30.

We pay out of pocket, so we always pick Shula's for steaks. We'd rather pay a bit more for higher quality food and ambience.

I, too, found Le Cellier to be very much Outback quality food and ambiance. (It's crowded and noisy.) Not bad food, but not "worth it" either. Of course, taking into consideration that just about every Disney restaurant isn't "worth" what it costs, you can only decide for yourself whether Outback quality food and a little Canadian trivia is worth the cost.

For what it's worth, our bill was about $80 (out-of-pocket, with Tables in Wonderland and tip) for one kids' meal (hot dog), one sandwich, one steak and two sodas at lunch. No appetizers or alcohol.

It can be (and often is) argued that OOP diners are paying extra for a reduction in quality to accommodate the dining plans. We've always like LC, but would rather pay a little more for the restaurants not on the plans. Shula's has been mentioned and Fulton's actually has some great steaks.

Is Le'Cellier worth it oop? ...... NO WAY. Sorry over hyped and over-rated. and if the prices go up with it being a signature, definitely not worth it. As it is now, IMHO, I don't even think it's the best 1ts restaurant in WDW for steak. Again, just my opinion based on my likes and experiences.

Has there been any word yet regarding menu/pricing changes for when it goes signature since we're only a little more than 6 weeks out?

Absolutely worth it! I've eaten at Shula's and some of the better steak houses about the country and this rivals any I've ever been to. I'll do what it takes to get resevervations here and alter my trip in any way to get in.

We really liked the food last year. I thought the food was really good, so good that my dh told me to make sure I get an ADR for this year. Since it is changing to a 2TS credit, and we are on the dining plan, we are going for lunch, and just paying oop. I reallly loved the cheddar cheese soup, the steak was great, but I was way too full to enjoy the desert. We plan on getting a cup of soup each, and maybe sharing something. The soup is so filling, that I don't think I can eat that, and a huge steak, and walk around the park after that in the hot sun. (our adr is for 11:15).

Being said, we don't eat out often, and when we do, it is to places like Chili's. We thought the steak was very good, but we rarely eat steak out. If you are use to going to fine dining steak houses, you may not like it.

I tried Le Cellier 3 times. It is not worth the $35 bucks they charge for a steak. EVER. If you're going for a good steak at the world I rank Le Cellier maybe at the bottom of the choices.

1) shulas
2) Yachtsman at the Yacht club
3) Chefs de france for the grilled tenderloin
4) Le Cellier.

If you want good soup, the Cheddar soup is very good.
