Le Cellier, what makes it special?

It's is very popular + it's small in there. The food is good here to.

Thanks for your responses! I have just always wondered about it, and there is always alot of chatter about LC - the pics did make me hungry!

I may just try for an ADR when my window opens up, and if I get it, I get it, and if I don't, well then I guess I will have to try and plan another trip in the future, :lmao:

It is a tradition for us. I always get the Mushroom Filet and my DH gets the plain Filet. While always good I've noticed the portion sizes have gotten smaller and the smoked trout app I loved is long gone.

The cheese soup and pretzel bread make calling at 7AM 90 days out worth it.

We went for the first time in June. Mom & I both had the filet with the mushrom risotto. Mom was not overly impressed with her steak -- I think we'd both have had a better opinion of our steaks if we'd been given the right ones. I'd thought mine was probably just a little overcooked (I order medium rare if I'm not sharing with my child...and it was medium). I don't know how Mom didn't realize her steak was undercooked (she ordered medium) when it was a little bloody -- it didn't dawn on her that she had the wrong steak until it was about gone... So, yeah, I think we'd both have been happier if we'd gotten the right steak or realized earlier enough to swap.

Most people I've read reporting their experience say they order the mushroom filet and the get mashed potatoes instead of the mushroom risotto. I ate around the mushrooms and it was good. My mother, though, has a completely different opinion of this. She tells people, "The steak was nothing spectacular...but the mushroom risotto that came with it...I could have just eaten a huge bowlful of that by itself."

I was thrilled that they have steak on the children's menu. Less thrilled when my child ordered a boring pizza. :sad1:

And, of course..the chocolate moose is adorable. And delicious. ;)

We've never attempted to get a ressie for Le Cellier, so I was wondering what makes it so special? Is there a particular item you love?

Nothing really IMO. It's good food but I wouldn't go so far as special. Never left it saying the meal was "fantastic".

As we all know you will not go hungry at disney, but a lot of the food is just ok-you are there for the settings more so than the food itself, but LeCellier is actually good food

For us it was great

Niece had the- Canadian cheddar cheese soup. kids steak and fries, and ice cream.

My siser and My Brother In-law had- New York Strip Steak, one had the moose and one had chocolate cake

I had the Filet with Cream Cheese Potatos and the moose oh and I did have the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup.

Everyone had the pretzle bread which I don't like I don't like Pretzles, i had the other bread and they where good.

ITs a small place and its just a nice area.

We love the food; DH is a big steak eater. Also, since we are from WNY, we can get a Labatt Light beer. A little bit of home. The service was also good!

DH and I ate at Le Cellier for the first time on my birthday trip on July 4. I was really excited to have dinner there (had been wanting to for a long time), but I was worried it would not live up to the reputation it has. OMG I WAS WRONG!!! It was seriously the best meal I've ever had. The bread was so good - I esp. liked the sourdough breadstick. I had the mushroom filet (without the mushrooms, just the sauce - not a big mushroom fan and the waitress had said you could get it this way - it was how she liked it), and I substituted the risotto with the cream cheese mashed potatoes. The steak literally melted in my mouth it was so tender and delicious. And I had no idea what cream cheese could do to mashed potatoes - loved them! DH got the caesar salad, some HUGE steak (can't remember which one) and the cream cheese mashed potatoes, and he agreed with me completely. We had the chocolate "moose" for dessert which was so cute (they decorated it for my bday like the pp's pic) and it was amazing (I'm a huge chocolate lover). Plus our waitress was wonderful. I loved the food, the atmosphere, etc. I can't wait to go back!:cheer2:

I haven't even eaten there yet and I already know what i'm ordering: Cheese soup, filet mignon and creme brulee! :cloud9: We ate at Coral Reef last time and loved it so i just had to see if Le Cellier lives up to it's hype aswell ;) Does anyone know if the lunch portions are much smaller than dinner? It's not a big deal as we plan to order at least a couple of sides anyway (my bf is vegetarian but I know he'll enjoy the gnocchi, cream cheese mash and mushrooms) We chose lunch as we want to leave the evening free for one of the shows/fireworks since it'll be our last one (gosh i'm sad thinking about that and we don't even go til October!)

has anyone tried the new Veal T-Bone? any good? is the meat in a veal steak light colored, like the meat in Wienerschnitzel? (breaded veal cutlet).
how would you compare it to a filet?
thanks!

I agree with your mom. That mushroom risotto is delicious and I could make a meal on it alone (although I also love the filet).:rotfl: The moose is cute, but not near as cute as it used to be when they used blueberries for eyes, a raspberry for a nose, and uncooked spagetti for whiskers.:sad1:

The moose has gotten less cute - the last one we got was terribly disappointing.

What makes this place popular is the Dining Plans. This once walk in establishment...one of the easier Priority Seating (prior to the ADR process) restaurants ranked low in popularity, back when Disney was truly focused on quality of food and service to attract guest. Now DDP and Free Dining are used to fill restaurants and people talk meal tickets...and getting steak for one ticket makes this place book fast. Its working for Disney and new TS diners are enjoying it too.

We had a late lunch there last January and enjoyed our meal. That being said, I wouldn't necessary say it was "special" (compared to other Disney restaurants we've eaten at) or that we will rush back. The dark cool atmosphere was very welcomed on a warm day. Service was great, very friendly and socialable. The food was good. We really enjoyed our meal, but not anymore than many other Disney restaurants we've been to.

we can get a Labatt Light beer. A little bit of home. The service was also good!

:rotfl: Good Canadian beer, eh?

We went for the first time this spring break, ad really enjoyed the meal. That being said not sure about all the hype, but really good food for 1 credit.

We've always had excellent service at Le Cellier, and the soup and breadsticks are good, but you can get good soup and breadsticks anywhere.

Honestly, now that it's such a "hot spot," we don't bother. The steaks are ok, but last time we went my medium steak was well done. Also, the tables are so incredibly close together that it's a major challenge to get to the ladies' room. Tables-close-together is a common Disney restaurant complaint, but Le Cellier takes it to ridiculous new inches. :crowded:

We'd rather go to Yachtsman (yeah, 2 TS credits if you're on the DDP, but so worth it) or Kona (only 1 credit!) for steak.

Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup
Le Cellier Steakhouse
serves 4-6

I just tried to make this soup last weekend what a mess I made LOL......oh! well I'm still trying to get ADR's for our up coming trip in Aug. I just dont see it happening, but I will keep trying but to answer the OP question I think what makes the LC so hard to get ADR's is all the hype. Don't get me wrong the food is good! but I think other then the bread & the cheese soup there is really no difference then any other steak somewhere else With that said I'm still trying to get ADR's for an up coming trip because I enjoyed myself last time and enjoyed the food thats the reason why we go back! :thumbsup2

wow that better than a moose thats some kind of moose-unicorn on fire combonation :rotfl:

Just curious if the bacon only garnishes the soup or if the soup is actually cooked with the bacon? We are non-pork eaters.
