I know this is a silly question, but French is not one of the languages I know. Is it pronounced Le Cell-ee-air or Cell-ee-ay? Thanks!

I belive it is pronounced more like Lay-Celli-A or maybe Lay-Seli-A. The R should be silent.

I pronounce it as lay sell yay, but then I speak French with a German accent.

Thanks for the responses. Originally I thought the R was silent, but the last time I called for reservations, the girl said Le Cell-ee-air. I wasn't convinced, though.

The r is silent. If I remember my high school french correctly, anytime that r is proceeded by ie then the r is silent. Our last name is french but that doesn't mean I speak the language by any means. Our last name ends in ier

:)

Luh-cell-ee-ay (If it were Les Celliers, then it would be Lay-cell-ee-ay. :thumbsup2 )

Yes my CM kept repeating it with the R over and over again too. She was like "oh you mean Le Cell LeaR"? She must be so annoyed from hearing pronounced "wrong" day in and day out...lol

My DH calls it the steak house in Canada.

How about "The Cellar"????? LOL!:dance3:
