Le Cellier OR Teppan Edo? What would you choose?

OK, So I am taking my daughter (age 4) and myself to Disney world in June.

We will have the DDP, I have all of our ADR's booked, but I double-booked on our day at Epcot. I need help!!!!

I have never eaten at Le Cellier or Teppan Edo and I have heard rave reviews about both.

Both would cost 1 DDP since I have reserved:

1:35 lunch @ Le Cellier
6:50 Dinner @ Teppan Edo


I do NOT plan to keep both reservations, I need help!!!!!! I cannot decide which reservation to keep!!!!! Any advice or idea's????

I'd actually see if you can get Garden Grill for dinner. As much as I love Le Cellier, its dark, quiet, and kind of boring for a kid.

Can you elaborate on why my daughter wouldn't fare well in Le Cellier, remember it will be just her and I. Plus I thought for lunch it wouldnt be as fancy-shamacy or on the romantic side??


I appreciate your advise but im not looking at OTHER suggestions, I am trying to decide between the two... adding more will just make me more confused!!!

Teppan Edo was fun, but the food was mediocre compared to local hibachies. It was a big disappointment to my whole family, as we are huge fans of hibachies.

I cannot comment on LeCellier, as I have never eaten there before, but I'm trying it this summer!

You didn't mention how old DD was, but both of my kids DD-6 and DS-10 loved Teppan Edo. It was like nothing they've ever experienced. LeCellier's food is great, but Teppan Edo is much more interesting.

I have to say that the waitresses at Teppan Edo were great. My DD bowed to them and they taught her how to bow the "Japanese" way as well as say hello. The waitress will make special chop sticks so your DD can use them too.

My children are very little 2 and 4 and both have been to Teppan Edo and Le Cellier. They were very well behaved at both and didn't find either one boring. We found the food at Le Cellier to be much better and my son (4) loved the bread sticks they give that are all different and from all different areas of Canada. We didn't like Teppan Edo as much. We have had better hibachi at home. Although it is more entertaining, my kids didn't really like sitting with other people around the same table. It made them really reserved and quiet and I don't think they had as much fun for that very reason. They like sitting with just our family. If you are looking for a quiet time together, I would suggest Le Cellier. (Plus the filet is very yummy! )

Okay - you said BOTH was NOT an option LOL!!!

Teppan Edo is a family tradition... I've probably been there 10+ times...

Le Cellier is a NEW FAVORITE.... went in May and plan to go back as SOON as possible... (YUM!)

But in your situation I agree with PP that recommends Teppan Edo. It think your 4 year old daughter will absolutely LOVE the experience ...and it can even be educational.

(Of course...Le Cellier could be educational in it's own way)

I actually enjoy eating with other folks and I think with the Two of you it would make it even more fun....plus the show....chopsticks...etc...

Even at lunch, its still in the basement and they can only sit but so many people. And its still not brightly lit. I also find it slightly cramped and the tables for two are small (there's difficulty balancing bread, two dinnerplates, and two glasses). I like it, but honestly its just as good as a steakhouse back home. The past two times we've eaten there we've had slow service as well. We got our drinks and then it took at least 15 minutes before we got our bread - so its not a place I would recommend for a young child who might deteriorate quickly when needing food badly. (We've been three different times in the past year, and I would honestly cut Le Cellier out of our next trip completely if it wasn't my mother's favorite and our last trip for quite awhile.)

I think Teppan Edo would be a much better/more memorable experience for your money.

We were very disappointed with Le Cellier. My 2 boys are very picky eaters and did not enjoy. They always enjoy going to Hibachi Steakhouses.

Having eaten at both places multiple times, I'd suggest Teppan Edo. The "show" would probably amuse her more. LeCe is a little more on the dark lighting side (even at lunch).

While we LOVE Le Cellier, I would recommend Teppan Edo. It is such a fun place with great food, I think your daughter would enjoy it much more.

Another vote here for Teppan Edo. The last 2 times we ate at Le Cellier we waited 45 minutes plus past our ADR time to be seated. Our children were smaller at the time, and this was not a good situation. Cranky, hungry children do not understand that long of a wait.

Teppan Edo has always been a great place to go. You may get seated with other children her age, so if she is the outgoing type that may add a nice interactive element to the meal. Our kids love the showmanship involved at Teppan Edo.

Our 4yo son loves Teppan Edo and it has become a staple to all of our visits to Epcot. Can you find better food at a local Japanese Steakhouse? Probably but the same definitely holds true for Le Cellier as well

I've done both many times and I think your child will like Edo better. The show makes it worth while for them. Sometimes, the chef gives a little extra attention to the young ones, too. Seeing the waitresses in their costumes is different, as well.

You really won't go wrong with either place. If you want to experience something more exciting then Edo gets my vote again. Also, I think it opens up avenues for different eating experiences as a young child and Edo is better in that way; because, it's a little different from a regular dining experience.

Finally, I prefer to wind down my day with a nice TS meal and dinner is better than lunch in that way.

If you are strictly deciding this by what your child would like then Garden Grill gets my vote; although, I do believe it's a more cultural experience to eat in World Showcase.

Le Cellier is out of this world and reservations are tough to get. I'm not sure a 4 yr. old would like it though - much more for adults, especially because of the prices. Is there still a restaurant at Living Seas? When my guys were younger, they loved it there - the big aquarium kept them entertained while waiting for their food plus my 27 year old still remembers the mousse with the chocolate mickey ears he had for dessert. I'm not a fish eating person but remember finding something I liked on the menu.

Lecellier is hard to get so I would probably do it. The filet at lunch is just as good as dinner.

There are alot of restaurants like Teppan Edo here so I have never wanted to eat there at WDW.

If you could take your daughter to Akersus with the princesses that would be my choice. It would be a special Mommy/Daughter memory.

Sigh.... lol... I appreciate everyone's help. I really do. I have been to WDW many many times, and I have a whole list of ADR's already... I am looking to choose between the TWO restuaruants and not add more to the list!!! Plus, I am the picky eater.... my DD will eat anything, so she isnt the problem!! I hate the food at Garden Grill, and I also hate Coral reef (I do not eat seafood!!!). I took her to Askerus last trip, and we have a very magical day planned with BBB and CrT already - so that is also not an option in my book. Mommy should get to go somewhere geared for me too!!!!!

Also, "Price" is really not an issue considering we are on the DDP.


I really appreciate all the advise, but im still torn. I know the "show" will be fun at Teppan Edo, but I know my DD will love a steak at le cellier too!!!!! Im still unsure
