Le Cellier menu change?

I heard on another board (non-Disney) that le Cellier's menu has changed. Has anyone been there this week that can confirm this? I don't see anything new on allEarsnet, but I know they don't get to every restaurant every day. Thanks!

Typical, everytime i book an ADR they change the menu!

Any one know what the new menus like?

From what I have read on reviews, it just seems that they took off the cheese platter and also the dessert platter? I am hoping that is it as well!

Oh my! I hope this is just a temporary thing! Prime Rib is my favorite! Hopefully, although sadly for those traveling now, it's just during the 'free' dining. I've read that they've "lowered" the offerings on a lot of menus (and servers are telling people that it's because of the free dining.)

I just sent this to my guests:

Recent Le Cellier Entree Changes - The mushroom filet mignon is gone. The 14 oz NY Strip is now 10 oz. The 7 oz filet mignon is now labeled "petite" instead of having a specific weight. The prime rib is gone, but a prime rib sandwich is available. The pork tenderloin is gone. The free range chicken is gone, but a chicken sandwich is available. The salmon is gone, but a crab roll is available. The jumbo shrimp is now less expensive. The tofu dish is unchanged. New dishes include a chicken caesar salad, beef tenderloin salad, steak burger, steak sandwich, stir-fry beef tips and a chicken salad.

That list looks just like the lunch menu on allears. Does anyone know if the dinner menu has changed since they updated it in June?

The mushroom filet is GONE???? But that's why I was going! Okay, now I'm very seriously considering switching to Teppenyaki - any thoughts? I've seen some good reviews...

Bicker--It looks more like the lunch menu BUT it's possible Le Cellier is going to follow other restaurants and have one menu for lunch and dinner.

Don't worry guys! The changes rhymed off above is actually the lunch menu. However, both menus did change within the past few weeks. The steaks, filets and prime rib haven't changed! A couple of items were removed from the menu, and some just changed. For example, the chicken sandwich is now asian inspired and the maple-bbq sauce goes on the prime rib sandwich now instead. Desserts have changed, and there is now a sorbet duo and creme brulee sampler among other things. Honestly, I think the biggest change is for those who don't like red meat that much - the new chicken and salmon dishes at dinner are fantastic!

I have a copy of the lunch menu in front of me from 9/4 and it does have some different things on there.

We talked to a chef at Jiko this past week and he basically said free dining is the reason most places have changed menus around and that after free dining is done we should expect to see the menus change again.

The restaurants still get paid, probably the same amount. Free dining certainly increases the number of DDP customers. It's possible some of the changes are to streamline the menu so they can handle the increased volume. I guess if the percentage of dining guests vs cash guests is low enough the restaurants might be able to justify adding some menu items back but I think a lot of the changes are going to stay.

OMG, Bicker goofed ... Now how often does that ever happen?! Compared the dinner menu with the new one for lunch ... I about had a heart attack, thinking the prime rib and mushroom filet were gone. Whew! Seriously, though, Bicker, I enjoy reading all your posts as they're so informative, even though I feel the need to grab the dictionary half the time. ;)

I just had the mushroom filet on 9/3 for dinner. It was wonderful!

The two sources I used for this were:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?Restaurant.ID=137

under the heading "Dinner (Updated: 05/06)"

and

http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_lcd.htm

with Menu Date: June 2006.

Reviewing them again, somehow or another I must have gotten my signals crossed and was indeed comparing the lunch menu to the dinner menu. Sorry for the confusion. I'm fixing my earlier message (as well as sending an update to my guests!)

I can’t tell you how glad I am it is still on the menu. DH and I enjoyed it so much last year we have plans to eat there on 2 nights of our 8 night vacation. Before I read all the way through this thread, I was already trying to decide where else we would go if we cancelled the 2nd night. I already had to talk DH “off the ledge” when we found out he wouldn’t be getting a full sized maple crème brulee.

Thanks, Bicker ... You're a good sport! :thumbsup2

I was coresponding with them via e-mail regarding the prime rib being removed from the menu (and some recipe questions ;) ). I just got an e-mail back from the (or at least A) Chef at Le Cellier and the exact wording was

The prime rib is currently on the LeCellier menu and is not coming off.

Phew! What a relief! :thumbsup2

You know, that really stinks. We think DDP is a great value even when we are paying for it. We are DVC members and don't get the "free" dining. I'll have to make sure we don't travel during the promotional period from now on so we can experience the full menus.

I am one of those taking advantage of Free Dining and I am starting to get a little offended with the way they are changing the menus because of it. If Disney didn't want to offer it on a level playing field, then don't offer it all. Right??? I'm starting to feel like a mooch. :teeth:
