Le Cellier is losing their edge

DH and I love Le Cellier and eat there every trip. However, the last time we were in WDW was Oct 2004 before the dining plan mania started. We're still definitely keeping our ADR, I'd rather see for myself it has gone downhill. :flower:

We have also been noticing poor, slow service lately. Our last trip the food just didn't seem like it used to, either. No dining plan, but I'm beginning to think that it is the dining plan that is changing a lot of the restaurants. It seems like overall menus are getting shorter, more people are dining, and quality/service are going down. Our best meals on our last trip were CA Grill, Jiko, and Citricos, which I'm wondering if since they require 2 dining credits, if that has any relation to how the restaurant runs. They were far less crowded than the others.

Le Cellier never did it for me. The food and ambience were never THAT great for us, so we generally don't go.

We ate their last September on the dining plan. We did wait quite awhile to be seated (even with ADR's), but we loved it. We had great service, and the food was wonderful. The portions aren't huge, but with bread, an appetizer, entree and dessert we were stuffed!! There are some tables that are VERY close together, but we were lucky enough not to be seated at one of those. Alfredo's has tables just like this, and we sat at one of those on our last visit-HATED IT!! You feel like you're sitting at the same table with the people around you-absolutely no privacy!! But we enjoyed Le Cellier so much that we're going back twice on our next trip.

We went the first week of June and it was wonderful! I had the cheese soup, filet mignon and finished with the Happiest Celebration cake. It was sooo good! DD, who had just turned 5, turned to me at one point and said, "Mommy, can we eat here every night?" That from the kid who normally will only eat chicken fingers!! :teeth:

Our service was fine - it was very busy, but we never had a problem getting refills or anything. We had our DDP=bad service experience at Ohana.

Le Cellier is our favorite place to eat at Disney!!! We eat there at least twice on every trip! We've never had a problem with the food being prepared the way we want (DH and I both take our steaks well done..hard to mess that one up!!!) and we have had the BEST service! I think it all depends on the server you get.....DH and I were leaving Le Cellier on our last trip the same time as another couple....we ended up watching some of the band in Canada sitting right beside them....they weren't impressed with Le Cellier...they had the mushroom filet (same as me)....they said the service was horrible....we were on the other side of the restaraunt and had a totally different experience....

Some people are more demanding and others are more laid back....I guess it depends on what you like....I personally don't like servers that are constantly at our table...walk by, refill my drink, when I am done with my entree get my dessert and I am happy....I don't like to feel rushed and that may be why I love Le Cellier...they don't rush you!

I posted earlier on this thread concerned about portion size, only because of DH & DS, but I am sure that from appetizer to dessert we all will be very happy that we chose LeCellier - There is no way, looking back on every review, that I can see us coming away unhappy! I am no longer going to read anything - just look forward to a wonderful time!!! :woohoo:

Last October was my first trip to Le Cellier with my parents whom had been there several times before. We waited 1 hour plus for our table with an ADR. The service was horrible, they were very disorganized and everyone seemed to stand around unsure of what they were doing. The food was okay and also took a very long time. We missed Illuminations although we had thought we planned for plenty of time to catch it. I left without having desert, we were on the dining plan, for fear of missing the bus back to our resort. Unfortunately based on this visit I will not be returning there.

I have always thought it was overrated. That does not mean "bad", just "not all that". YMMV.:earsboy:

We ate here a few years ago and enjoyed it. The food and service were wonderful. We plan to eat her on our trip next year. I think like any other restaurant you will hear the good and bad. I tried Chef Mickeys for breakfast based on all th good reviews and we had the worst server and service we ever had in Disney. So I say go and try it for yourself, we listened about Chef Mickeys and how good it was and our experience was not at all good, will never go back!

Yeah... this place is horrible... :stir: ... don't bother doing any ADR :ssst:
(just kidding... I am a huge fan of this place...)

I am also going to pretend that I didn't read those bad comments, we are going in August.

I went there in April... I agree with another person that said they don't seem to know how to cook a steak past rare.... I like medium well and it took 3 tries for them to "attempt" to get mine right and then I finally gave up. The ONLY highlight for me was the Pretzel bread.... I also didn't care for the very salty cheese soup....

Tables too close - I agree. There was no way to hold a private conversation because you are on top of one another!

I was sad that I wasted the money. :sad2:

I also gave Le Cellier a thumbs down after my trip last Fall. Getting seated and then service was too slow and there were a couple of small errors with the food. The food was fine, just not worth it if I were paying out of pocket. My lobster tail was pretty small and a little dried out.

Every other place we ate the service was great and we were seated on time.

2 yrs ago we tried the cheese soup at the f&w festival. we decided to call and get a lunch ressie. It was great. The cheese soup and bread were wonderful as well as the meals. I made a ressie for this year..i too hope it will be as good as the last time.

As the original poster of this thread, I must add, we were not on the dining plan. But did share one soup and one salad. We both ordered the 7oz fillet with mushrooms etc....that we had many times in the past, along with a spinach side dish. We were totally done our dinner before the spinach arrived, having reminded our waitress much earlier. Just disappointed in general compared to years past. The staff, albeit slow, is extremely friendly. As I am sure they are instructed to be. They even asked us how long ago we made our reservations. And we could overhear others being asked this same question. Perhaps they are just getting a bit big for their britches.

If they are "losing" it I dont think it affects them......since I cant get a ADR for the entire week that I am there!! :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

We just got back from Disney, and LaCellier was one of our fav restaurants, best pretzel bread, awesome filet, great service!

We ate there May 25 and it was one of our favorite restaurants...The service was good the food was excellent...We will be going back there on our next trip..

The way i look at it,im sure i will have a few dining experiences that im not THAT happy with, BUT...and this is a HUGE but...I think we all build up these restaurants in our heads to be the end all and be all of our trips. They are just restaurants, and if we think we will get the best food of our lives and the best service, then most of us could easily be disappointed if its just a good meal and not one of the best we've ever had.

It seems a bit like setting ourselves up for a big let down. I agree the waiting on the table after you have had an ADR for months is annoying, infact will probably be what bothers me most, not because i mind waiting, but because im losing valuable park time waiting on a dining experience.

I have a ressie Oct 3 for 6:30 and i am looking forward to it very much :)
