Le Cellier - Is it even worth it anymore

I have always wanted to go to Le Cellier. I have heard wonderful things about it over the years. Now, however, the menu has changed. I am wondering - is it even worth it anymore. I realize this question is open to personal opinion, but I am looking for guidance. We have ressies for Le Cellier on our next trip; we enjoy truly tender, flavorful steaks. For one really good meal inside any park or at any resort, along the same price lines as Le Cellier, what is your suggestion and why? Throw out your top choice; while we want somewhere new, we feel our list of "been there, done that" places is too long to post.

I am wondering as well - has taken a few years to get reservations so hope its worth it.

But overall - I have to say Narcoossee's is one of my favorite places - but Yachtsman has amazing steaks - and dont forget the mac and cheese

I understand the hype. For 1 credit on the dining plan, lunch is probably the best food you'll get in the parks (and most of the resorts). Dinner has lost popularity because it's no longer 1 credit.

And I would say lunch is worth it on the DDP. The mushroom filet was far better than my steak at Coral Reef, and the duck meatball appetizer was really good.

On our next trip in May 2012, we are trying it for lunch. We've had dinner at LE Cellier twice, and both times the food was really good and service was great.

For 1 meal credit, I will certainly try lunch.

Level-set expectations - that is the key IMHO.

Some on this board make LeCellier to be this world-class restaraunt which it isn't.

I think it is a good restaraunt especially by Disney standards but it isn't on the same level as places like California Grill or Citricos for example.

For me, it is a great place to get a burger and the soup is usually very good.

Many thanks for the opinions given - we have dinner ressies and are not going to be on the dining plan, so how many credits is not an issue; we're planning on the cost. I guess with the opinion expressed about the change in opinion being due to increased dining credits, I now want to know if any of you who have eaten there over the years and since the menu change can give your opinion as to whether it is still worth it please?

Yesterday I made my ADR for LeCellier lunch in early August. As a first-timer to LeCellier, I can't wait to see for myself why so many posts are devoted to this restaurant.

Inside the theme parks, there aren't many better restaurants. Don't take that statement as a compliment to LeCellier, but rather an indictment on the quality of the food within the parks themselves.

Rather than spending the money on LeCellier, I'd rather eat outside of the parks and eat at California Grill, Citricos or Narcoossee's. Very similar in cost, but the quality of food is significantly improved.

Lunch is still 1 credit - I'm surprised that people on the boards don't seem to understand that.

I agree. Most of our dining is OOP, and we dine most often at the resort signatures. However, we just tried the DxDP for a short stay, and Le Cellier certainly offered some of the best food for 1 credit.

Haven't been for lunch yet (always dinner) but taking my husband for his first visit this year and I made a reservation for lunch. I'm hoping the lunch will be as good as the dinners I have had there. The food isn't magnificent but it's still very good for a theme park. I'm not sure I would use more than one credit on it tho.

I've had plenty of better steaks back home in MA and many more in my travels to the Midwest and beyond. LeCellier doesn't come anywhere near the top of the "great steaks" in my life. Still, we enjoy it there for what it is. A good dining experience amid a lot of mediocre foods at Disney.

I think it is decent for 1 credit for lunch. I would not spend 2 credit for dinner. If I'm paying OOP, I rather eat at Shula's and IMO, it's the best steak house in WDW property. For 2 credit options, there are many better signatures such as Cali Grill, Narcoses, Yachtsmans, Flying Fish, etc.

I think they have been great for 1 credit, 2 seems like stretching it. Honestly, most of the food has been going downhill. This last trip I wished I was back on the cruise for the good Disney food/service. Think it spoiled me.

Back on the ship - this does all come down to personal opinion. I think I will go to Le Cellier with the ressie I have simply because I will always be saying I want to try it until I do. We are going opp, so I wanted to try to make sure it would be worth it, but all in all, it will be worth it to have the experience and know what it is like.

Le Cellier is off our list until further notice. I had a burger there several months ago that was basically a mess. I had heard it was back to the original, but I stopped by the kiosk a few days ago and was told it hasn't changed. That's a shame since they used to have one of the best burgers in WDW.

We have eaten dinner there a couple of times. Nothing great. We enjoyed our steaks at Mama Melrose's better. We also like Ohana better. This year we are only doing lunch because of the family we are going with wants to see what all the hype is about. I would like to hear what steak to order on the lunch menu... subscribing.

We try to do Le Cellier once each trip ... usually lunch. We've talked about doing dinner there instead, however now that they are a signature restaurant, I doubt we'll be making ADRs for dinner. Unfortunately what we usually get isn't worth the price they're charging at dinner (the mushroom filet which is $27 on the lunch menu, is $41 on the dinner menu )
