Le Cellier--"exciting new menu"

I was making ressie's for January and happened to read this under Le Cellier on the WDW website:

Le Cellier Steakhouse

"This intimate restaurant replicates a wine cellar and features prime rib, filet mignon and pan-seared seafood. Effective March 1, 2011, dinner at Le Cellier Steakhouse will be elevated to a Signature dining experience, offering an exciting new menu that will change seasonally and an expanded wine list.

As we had all expected, they will, in fact, be retooling the menu... it will be interesting to see what they come up with to justify it's new "signature" status... is it possible this could be a good thing maybe???

I just got back from Quebec where I had tourtiere, pheasant legs, rabbit pie and poutine.


"prime rib, filet mignon" is steak house food. Canadian, don't know about that!

What, they don't have steakhouses in Canada?
While it would be fun to see a few specifically French Canadian dishes...we love having a steakhouse in Epcot.

Just hope the new menu meets the standards for "signature"...not just the popularity-factor forcing a higher price.

Could be an expanded seafood menu. PEI oysters, New Brunswick lobster, Nova Scotia scallops, etc....many high-end restaurants feature Atlantic Canada seafood. These go hand in hand with a good steak (surf 'n turf) and would add to the existing seafood menu of salmon and halibut.

I will reserve judgment once I see the menu

Well I won't get excited till it happens ! I just don't trust DI$NEY with ALL this free dining. I was on a cruise three years ago to Canada. Even McDonalds has...........

Was that in Atlantic Canada? I don't eat at McDonald's much but I have never seen a Lobster sandwich at McDonald's.

Yes we have steakhouses up here. Even BC has great seafood places.

I was on a French Exchange in Quebec and had some mystery meat, I didn't ask what it was. I'm rather picky when it comes to food. I think it was moose, but I didn't want to find out.

Has anyone else heard it will only be a Signature at dinner time? I don't know if they can do that or if it will be open only for dinner and not lunch anymore?

I read on a website that it will turn into a Signature for dinner...can anyone clarify as I can't find the website now

True. We usually find those in a steakhouse. Being from Quebec, I can tell you that we eat tourtière and rabbit pie mostly around the Holidays. We eat ham on Easter. And we eat poutine every weekend! Just kidding! I eat this ounce in while.

It was recently announced that dinner service at Le Cellier would fall under the ‘signature dining’ category, requiring two table service credits from the Disney meal plan. Many were upset by this, but honestly – if my lunch is any indication of what a dinner service is like here, than this IS a signature restaurant and it should be a two-credit meal for dinner (lunch will continue to be a 1 credit meal).

I'll really be interested to see the lunch menu. I hope the filet stays, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it offered at dinner only.

I'm from Quebec, too. We ate tourtiere occasionally, never had rabbit pie or pheasant legs in my life, and shock-of-shocks we ate great steak all the time.

That said, I would vote to add poutine!

Both Arby's and McDonald's in Maine have lobster rolls on the menu.

I'm from Ontario and yes we do have steak restaurants. The restaurants we do have, you have them down there too. I have eaten deer meat but not rabbit or moose. For Thanksgiving it is turkey,ham etc. no rabbit McLobster, never heard of it. Likely on the east coast near Nova Scotia near the ocean.

I had to do a whole presentation on international business. I used McDonalds as an example... look at the commercials from all across the world on youtube.

We finally got the coveted Le Cellier ressie on last trip. Although I found the cheddar soup to be way to salty the steak was great. I have been to WDW many times and next time hope to get Le Cellier ressie again. Very nice rest.

Yes, I had decent fried shrimp at McDonald's in Rome. We also on occasion can get McDonald's lobster up here in New England.
