Le Cellier--"exciting new menu"

I hope they do not get rid of the pretzel breadsticks. My kids will be so disappointed :confused3

We finally got the coveted Le Cellier ressie on last trip. Although I found the cheddar soup to be way to salty the steak was great. I have been to WDW many times and next time hope to get Le Cellier ressie again. Very nice rest.:thumbsup2

I thought the opposite of what you did when we went to Le Cellier last month. I notice salty food very easily (even when DH doesn't think it's salty), and I was expecting the cheddar cheese soup to be salty, but I didn't think it was. However, I thought the sauce on the mushroom filet was slightly more salty than it should have been. Plus, instead of risotto (not crazy about risotto) I subbed potato gratin. It was so salty that I couldn't eat it. I tried a couple of times, but I just couldn't. Steak was very good quality and very tender though, I will give them that! And the bread and soup were both good, plus DH was happy to drink some Labatt Blue!! (He went to college in Buffalo where it was readily available!!

Yes, I had decent fried shrimp at McDonald's in Rome. We also on occasion can get McDonald's lobster up here in New England.

In summer 2003 (B.C.=Before Children! :lmao:), DH and I took a week-long road trip through the New England states. It was a beautiful trip of course! I remember McDonald's having lobster rolls, as well as blueberry pie. I couldn't bring myself to eat lobster at McDonald's when I knew I was going to get the best lobster in Bar Harbor, Maine, but I did try the blueberry pie and it was good!

Yes, but will they have real Canadian food?

I just got back from Quebec where I had tourtiere, pheasant legs, rabbit pie and poutine.

"prime rib, filet mignon" is steak house food. Canadian, don't know about that!

Sounds like you had French dishes, not Canadian, but thats a different subject! lol

I don't know but I just spent a week in Quebec City and all they seemed to have was pasta and pizza in the old city.
I was expecting lots of French influenced food.

The best meal we had was at the Keg (think upscale outback), this also seemed to be one of the most popular places with the locals. It was one of the few places with a wait to get in.

I have to say I don't like seeing all the American chains popping up in the old city.
Dairy queen, Subway and McDonalds.

It was much different when I was there 10 years ago.

Oh and you can not get a Molsen Canadian - I was yelled at for ordering one. "They only have good beer - Molsen Export"????

Though like any tourist destination a McDonald's and Subway appear to be a necessity, there are lots of great restaurants in Quebec City... even ones that serve more traditional French Canadian fare. Le Parlementaire is good, Panache is really nice, Le Buffet de L'Antiquaire is super cheap but has some great stuff. Did you not have crepes during your trip at some point?? Not that this helps you now... ... ;)

What no moose?

I was on a French Exchange in Quebec and had some mystery meat, I didn't ask what it was. I'm rather picky when it comes to food. I think it was moose, but I didn't want to find out.

Mystery Meat = Beaver!!! :lmao:

Alberta Beef- nuff said :)

Perhaps they will have REAL smoked salmon. That would be delicious!!! Or... oolichan grease... :lmao: (fish grease that native people spread on dried fish and bread...and it smells really bad) or what about Powow Shortcake?? That would be good too! (fried bread with fresh berries and whipped cream) But selling Tim Horton's would be the best though! :cloud9:
