So just back from a week at SSR (our home resort) and this was the first trip that I've been able to get out and play golf at WDW.

In a word, it was awesome. My brother in law (in the dark blue shirt) and I (in the light blue shirt) played LBV there at Saratoga Springs and had a great time.

When I was preparing to head down there, it seemed I could never get enough pics of the course so I decided I'd take some while we played and post them when we returned.

So here are a few below along with some notes on the golf...

- Planned to buy the DVC golf membership, but the man at check-in was kind enough to tell me the current special of free golf rental clubs and free range balls with a full priced round ($89) would actually be cheaper for me - so we went with that.

- We teed off at 7:27am and were paired with another couple of folks and when we arrived at the tee box, the starter told us we could have a magic moment....

- Our magic moment was that we got to walk over to the 9th green and select where the pin placement would be for the day. We were also given customized yardage books with our names on the front and a little "thank you" for selecting the pin placement - cool!

- Pace of play was great, and had to be one of the friendliest staffs I've met

- Rental clubs were nice King Cobras for me (which included a hybrid 3 as well as a gap wedge), while my brother in law got the Titleists.

- Course was good fun - not an easy track but I can see where folks would say it's not extremely tricky. I really enjoyed the way it wound through the various resorts.

- GPS on carts were great and much appreciated from some of the locations where my ball landed!

- Oh yeah, it was HUMID! Early tee time helped, but man, was it humid. And I live in Houston, so it's not like it's dry here....

- Finally, throughout our stay the course looked fairly slow, with some real gaps between players in the afternoons. Lots of times during our stay at SSR we'd see a two-some come by with no groups insight in front or behind them!

So without any more delay, here are some pics!

:thanks: Great photos! One of the reasons DH loves SSR so much is for the golf. I will make sure to show him your pictures.

I sent your post to my family. They enjoyed playing golf in Cape May this month, and this will give them some ideas for another family trip. Thanks for the pictures.

Glad ya'll liked the pics!

As I said, seemed I couldn't get enough pics when I was preparing for the trip :hyper: so I made it a point to take the camera out with me for the first 11 holes.

The cool thing was that we stayed in a Grand Villa in the Grandstand area and from the den you could look out and see the 10th fairway. So when my brother in law and I got to the 10th tee, we called our family up and saw them waving to us from the room after our tee shots!

In fact, my wife came down with our 3 year old and my father in law to meet us at the 11th tee (was right across from the stairs to the room!).

They came and grabbed the camera to use the remainder of the day and my youngest got to see how not to hit a 3 wood off the tee box! :rolleyes1:

Let's hope he learns from his dad's mistakes! ::yes::

I cannot WAIT TO PLAY there....We had a grandstand view overlooking the course it was great!! THanks for the pics and TR....

Thanks for the pictures. :thumbsup2 I have never played golf at Disney before, but starting with our December trip, I hope to get around to all of them. Your pics and comments on the course at LBV has really got me excited and can't wait to play it.

Great photos!! Can't wait to show DH as he will be playing LBV on our next trip for the first time. This is one of the main reasons we bought at SSR.

I will tell you that it was so easy and convenient to play golf there! A short walk from the room to the club house and we were ready to go! No cabs or buses or cars - simply great.

The wife  is being wonderful (as usual) by helping me plan my 40th birthday celebration (early 2011) with a fellas golf trip to SSR.

Plan is to get a Treehouse Villa and spend 4 days playing the various courses.

So knowing that, this trip got me even more excited about that idea - especially since we were able to get a quick tour of the THV's (must say the pics don't do them justice, they are really nice!).

Wonderful! You are the only one I know of who posted pictures of the golf course! Just another reason to enjoy "The World". :thumbsup2

Thanks - ya know I was surprised, prior to heading down there, just how few pics there seemed to be of the golf course. But then again, would bet not many golfers tote along a camera while they play.

For me, figured it couldn't hurt my game any more than what it is already!

Great review, I posted the link to the "Golf FAQ" thread over on the theme parks board...

Thanks for the pictures! I would love to play at WDW one day - guess I need to keep practicing first! I appreciate you sharing your photos with us. :thumbsup2

Nice pics, glad you enjoyed! Soooooooo what did you shoot!?!?!??!

That's funny cause LBV is one of the reasons we bought at OKW! The preview building porch looked out at one of the greens, can't remember the number, and we were sold. At the time, the disney golf classic was held on that course and we could sit there on the porch and watch the pro's play through. Then the next year, it was held on palm/magnolia, lol. But it sure is a nice course!

PS: i remember watching the golf classic on tv and seeing OKW in the background and thinking, wow, that must be where the rich people stay, lol.

Thanks for sharing, one of the main reasons we love SSR is the golf, and we were just last week too, we might have been playing at the same time and I agree nothing is more relaxing to me when I am not playing is too sit on my balcony and watch others play. :thumbsup2

In fact during our recent trip of 7 nights, 8 days we only went to the parks twice, the rest of the trip was spent on the golf course, at the Spa and at Downtown Disney. It was one of our best trips ever.

Thanks for sharing. I'd love to play a round of golf at WDW sometime.

Thanks so much for filling us in! DH & I will be golfing there at the end of September- looking forward to a great trip!!!:thumbsup2
