So just back from a week at SSR (our home resort) and this was the first trip that I've been able to get out and play golf at WDW.
In a word, it was awesome. My brother in law (in the dark blue shirt) and I (in the light blue shirt) played LBV there at Saratoga Springs and had a great time.
When I was preparing to head down there, it seemed I could never get enough pics of the course so I decided I'd take some while we played and post them when we returned.
So here are a few below along with some notes on the golf...
- Planned to buy the DVC golf membership, but the man at check-in was kind enough to tell me the current special of free golf rental clubs and free range balls with a full priced round ($89) would actually be cheaper for me - so we went with that.
- We teed off at 7:27am and were paired with another couple of folks and when we arrived at the tee box, the starter told us we could have a magic moment....
- Our magic moment was that we got to walk over to the 9th green and select where the pin placement would be for the day. We were also given customized yardage books with our names on the front and a little "thank you" for selecting the pin placement - cool!
- Pace of play was great, and had to be one of the friendliest staffs I've met
- Rental clubs were nice King Cobras for me (which included a hybrid 3 as well as a gap wedge), while my brother in law got the Titleists.
- Course was good fun - not an easy track but I can see where folks would say it's not extremely tricky. I really enjoyed the way it wound through the various resorts.
- GPS on carts were great and much appreciated from some of the locations where my ball landed!
- Oh yeah, it was HUMID! Early tee time helped, but man, was it humid. And I live in Houston, so it's not like it's dry here....
- Finally, throughout our stay the course looked fairly slow, with some real gaps between players in the afternoons. Lots of times during our stay at SSR we'd see a two-some come by with no groups insight in front or behind them!
So without any more delay, here are some pics!
