Saturday 27 February 2010 - Day Ten
Eric came in with us at 4.30 am today and then got up with Andy at 7.30 am. As we were having a lazy morning, they let me sleep in until 9 am which was a very nice treat. Me and Andy had cups of tea and Eric had some breakfast and we left the villa at 10.20 am.
We had decided on IHOP for a late breakfast as our Crystal Palace ADR was for 3.15 pm that afternoon which is neither here nor there in terms of meals. It was packed in IHOP but they were only saying a 15 minute wait, which it was, they were shifting people pretty quickly.
I had another cup of tea, Andy had coffee and orange juice and Eric had apple juice. To eat, I had eggs benedict with hash browns, Andy had a bacon, tomato and two cheese omelette with pancakes and Eric had toast. I love IHOP, the food is lovely and always fills me up for the day, and the wait staff are nearly always lovely. Eric was entertained by the menu and also by the peg game that they have on the tables - mostly by emptying the pegs out everywhere, tbh. Me and Andy also love playing that too (not so much the emptying the pegs out everywhere though).
We left IHOP at 11.45 am and headed to Walmart so I could have a browse. I bought Eric a little cuddly Tigger and myself some green Sally Hansen nail polish for only $2! We also got a top up card for the mobile, some fruit juice and a chocolate bunny for Kari. We left at 1 pm to go back to the villa for a while.
We drank more tea (this is a very British day seemingly) and both rung our mums off the mobile, using up all the credit we had just added, but at least it was more relaxing than ringing from a theme park. We set off out again at 2.15 pm, arriving at the Magic Kingdom at 2.30 pm. Eric had a bit of a sleep in the car. We walked to the TTC and arrived at the park by monorail, which was quiet for once as we were arriving at an off time.
The ticket gate man called me princess and said I "could come in and play" which made me grin!
The parade was just starting as we entered the park so we stopped to watch it as we were pretty much stuck anyway. I texted Kari and she was on the bridge watching so I knew she wasn't waiting for us at Crystal Palace at least. Woody stopped to say hi to Eric but I wasn't quite quick enough to capture the moment on film.
We met Kari at CP after the parade had finished and Andy joined the long line to check us in whilst me and Kari caught each other up on what we had been doing. Kari thinks it's hilarious that we have great fun at IHOP and Walmart!
When we were finally seated, me and Kari ordered cokes, Andy ordered a diet coke and we got an apple juice for Eric. As usual, there was loads of food to choose from and we ate garlic smashed potatos, beef, mediterranean chicken, broccoli, chicken nuggets (E), rice (E), mac and cheese, meatballs (for Andy which he procured from the kid's table!), pasta salad, fiery cornbread, cucumber and ginger salad, grapes (E), boston cream pie, strawberry cheesecake and chocolate chip cookie (E). Me and Andy finished up with coffees (must have been feeling less British by then).
It was really busy in the CP so whilst the food was a little better than the Hollywood and Vine Playhouse Disney character meal, the character interaction was, understandably, nowhere near as involved. We met Tigger and Piglet twice, and Eeyore and Pooh once. I got Eric to show Tigger his little Tig that I had bought for him in Walmart and Tigger pretended to eat him which was really funny. I got a nice uexpected cuddle from Piglet when I was standing up to take Eric's picture and hadn't seen Piglet come up behind me.
I left Andy and Kari in the restaurant and took Eric to the baby care center to change him. He had a very sore bottom so I took him to first aid to get checked over and they advised me some cream to get for him. I had to go back into CP to get some money from Andy - the CM on the door really did not want to let me back in - argh, not amused.
After this mini-drama, we rode the carousel which Eric loved.
We also did It's a Small World and I told Eric he was very honoured to be riding it with his Auntie Kari because I know she will only ride it every few years (I think it takes her that long to get the song out of her head!) I know I always get told off if I mention it to her!
After the rides we went over to Liberty bridge to wait for Spectromagic to start. The 2319 squad were out in full force (reference Monsters Inc) telling me off for stepping over the line on the floor - yeah, because it's so easy to stand still with a crochety one year old in tow. To distract Eric (and me from telling said CM exactly what I thought of her) we bought Eric a light up spinny Mickey head which went down pretty well. Spectro is my favourite parade so I enjoyed it as always and I think Eric liked it too, especially the characters, though I think he got a bit bored with the ones he didn't recognise.
We crossed the park to the bridge by the castle on Main Street to watch Wishes. During a small tantrum, Eric threw his dummy into the lake which I thought was hilarious. He fell asleep on Andy's shoulder halfway through the fireworks and we managed to put him in his pushchair without waking him up. We took the boat back to the TTC so that we didn't have to get Eric out and then walked back to the car.
We went back to the villa via Walmart for another top up card for the phone, got back about 9.30 pm. We put Eric to bed and had our baths. Finished the evening with Bud Lite for Andy, mojito for me and some buffalo ranch doritos. Went to bed at midnight.
