Friday 5 March - Day Sixteen
Eric got in with us about 4 am and then we were all up by 8.15 am. We got dressed and finished the packing and Andy took the cases down to the car. Eric had a twinkie and a few grapes. We went to the Contempo Cafe for breakfast about 10 am. Me and Andy had an egg, ham and cheese sandwich each - these were huge, we could easily have shared one. I had tea, Andy had coffee and we shared some apple juice. Eric had frosted flakes.
We said goodbye to BLT and drove to the Premium Outlet mall. We wanted to get my brother a present we had seen earlier in the holiday - two squashy balls, one of an alien and one of an eyeball which flatten out when you splat them on the floor. That done we drove to DHS arriving about 12.30 pm.
We took the tram to the park and headed straight over to the Playhouse Disney area where Eric met all of the Little Einsteins and Handy Manny in quick sucession. E would quite happily have stayed there all day, he was most disgruntled when we dragged him away.
We went into the Art of Disney Animation to look for characters next. The highlight was Sorcerer Mickey who Eric ran up to with his arms wide open and after his cuddle stood looking up at adoringly. We also met Mr and Mrs Incredible, Frozone, who was very sweet and kissed my hand, and Russell and Dug from Up. Not sure why with the last two as the movie depressed the hell out of me but they were nice and friendly all the same.
When we got back outside, JoJo and Goliath were there so it was time for more cuddles.
We went to Starring Rolls Cafe for some snacks and between us ate BBQ crisps, a chocolate chip cookie, strawberry yogurt and apple juice. We had a walk around the park and then, when we could avoid it no longer, we left at 3 pm to head for the airport. The traffic was quite heavy but we were there with plenty of time to fill up the car and drop it off. We had checked our bags at Downtown Disney so we went through Security where we bought a newspaper, magazine, some Bugle crisps, mints and apple juice.
Our plane left on time with a flight time of 7 hours and 20 minutes. We had our welcome drinks, orange juice for me and champagne for Andy, and then I had a coke and Andy had a Heineken. For tea me and Andy both had cheese pasta with salad, bread, crackers, cheese, strawberry cheesecake, white wine, water and tea. Eric ate bread and crackers and some raisins.
Eric eventually went to sleep but he wasn't very settled so I didn't rest very much. For breakfast we shared an egg bagel and a ham, egg and cheese muffin with an apricot granola bar each and cups of tea. Eric had more raisins and chocolate buttons on the way down.
We arrived in Manchester just after 7 am where the temperature was 3 degrees!
In conclusion, this was a very difficult trip for me in a lot of ways, but seeing the joy on my little man's face made me know we'd made the right decision. We can't wait to take him again and find out what is different for him next time.
Oh, and one more picture, here is E when we came home helping his daddy put his cot on the lowest level.
