Hey Everyone, sorry for being MIA for the last couple of days, but this week was packed with things going on. So, I will give a little bit of an update on my week.
Wednesday, I had a 6 miler on the schedule. I went out after work for my run, and within the first mile, I knew it was not going to be good. My shins were killing me. At the end of the first mile, I stopped to stretch a bit to see if that would help, and it just did not do anything. By the end of the second mile, I just couldn't go anymore, so I stopped. I didn't want to push it any more and risk hurting myself more.
I am not sure what the pain was from, I just got new running shoes a few weeks ago, so I don't think it was from the shoes.
Thursday-The after-school program that I am running at school started. I was really nervous about everything going well. I had 8 classes running with about 90 kids involved. And, I am responsible for it going well. Well, it ended up going very smoothly and all my worries were for nothing. I was super relieved by that. Hopefully, monday goes just as well!!!
I had planned on going out for a 3 mile run on thursday when I got home, but my one shin was still a bit sore from the day before, and I didn't really want to push it because I really didn't want to miss my LR this weekend. So, I went home and did a bunch of stretching exercises and then iced my shin.
Friday-I was involved with organizing a health fair at my school on friday morning. This was another form of stress this week as I was nervous that everything would go well. I had 14 presenters scheduled to do sessions with the students. Well, after a rough start, in which a few presenters were late and one didn't show up, everything pulled together and the event was AWESOME! My superintendent was very pleased with how everything went, which made me very happy. Now, I would be able to relax and enjoy the weekend without the stress of all these events!!
Saturday-Spent the day with my two neices and nephew. My nephew ran in a 1/2 mile X-country race. It was his first race, and he finished in 2nd place!! He was so excited about how well he did. He asked me after the race, if he could come running with me now! I was laughing so hard, it was so cute. I told him that the next time I am down by him, I would take him out for a run.
Sunday-Today was my 12 mile LR! Well, my legs were feeling better, so I went out for my run. It was pretty cold at 7am, but it was a great change from the heat we had been having. Once again, I was very consistent with my pace, averaging 10:12 per mile. I felt great today, my shins were a little sore at the end, but not nearly as bad as the other day. When I came home, I made sure I iced them.
Ok, sorry for the looooong post, just wanted to update as to my crazy week!!
Stacy--Thanks for stopping by....yes, I am busy, often too busy at times, but I love what I do and it always keeps me on my toes!!
Tracy--I am going to try to relax today! Nothing on the agenda except a hockey game later tonight...so I will relax and watch some football today!!
Amy--Weather wasn't so bad today, it was a little cool, but I will take that over the heat and humidity any day!!!
