This is my first ever trip report, so be warned!

Cast:

Laura (Me!) - 19 - I went to WDW in August 2005 with my parents, brother and sister for 2 weeks. After that I was hooked.

Steven (the boyfriend) - 21 - Not really into Disney, or theme parks...but all that is about to change.

Booking the trip:

Ever since my 2005 trip I've wanted to go back to WDW, however to go back again as a family of 5 it was far too expensive, so I had to just keep dreaming.

In April 2007 I met Steven and we've been together ever since. We have never had a holiday together and since neither of us had a holiday in 2008 we decided to go all out in 2009 and go to Florida!

In August 2008 we went to our local travel agents, just to browse and get quotes. We came out 40 minutes later with a booking confirmation and a receipt for the deposit we had paid!!! We had done it!!! 2nd May -16th May 2009, All Star Sports :) I was so excited...Steven on the other hand was wondering what he had let himself in for.

Jump forward 9 months and a lot of planning, it was 1st May, the night before we were due to leave. I was packed and ready, finished work for 3 weeks and was all set.

Day 1 - Travelling & MK

At 5:30am my dad drove us to Newcastle airport. Before leaving I said bye to my mam, sister and brother. I shed a few tears, this holiday was my first without my parents. I hadn't been away from them for longer than 5 days.

At the airport I said another tearful farewell to my dad. Once we were inside and in the check-in line I was ok and reassured myself I'll be fine and will have an amazing time.

Our flight took off on time at 08:55am. Fast forward 9 hours and 35 minutes, we had landed in Sanford Airport. We were first through security, and our bags were first off the plane so we were on our way.

As Steven is only 21 and a fairly new driver in England, he wasn't confident with driving in America, so we booked a transfer to and from the airport. The transfer seemed to take forever.

We arrived at All Star Sports at 5:30pm. Check-in was quick, the CM was friendly and gave Steven a 1st visit button and gave me a I'm Celebrating button (since I was celebrating Steven's 1st visit) :) Off we went to Hoops Hotel, building 3, floor 3, room 3360 with smiles from ear to ear. The room was perfect.

I really didn't think Steven would be bothered with visiting a park on the first day due to the long flight etc, so didn't have anything planned. Even though it was after 6pm when we got settled in our room and unpacked we decided we wanted to start our trip with a visit to MK to see Spectromagic and Wishes.

We arrived at MK for around 7pm. We took lots of photos, had a wander around the park stopping to go on Haunted Mansion and then Mickey's Philharmagic and It's a Small World. Steven also got a glimpse of the Turkey Legs in Frontierland and decided he HAD to get one.

We then went back to Main Street USA and took our places for Spectromagic. After the parade we wandered over to Buzz Lightyear, which was a walk on. I won :) After we went back to Main Street and stood outside Casey's Corner to watch Wishes.

It was the first time I had seen Wishes as well as Steven's. We loved it.

After Wishes we hung around Main Street for a little while, taking photos and having a look around the shops. The bus back to the hotel was practically empty. We didn't have to wait very long. We were back at the hotel for 11:10pm and fell straight asleep!

Part 2 - Will Steven face the Yeti at Animal Kingdom???

Sunday 3rd May
Day 2 - Animal Kingdom & Epcot

I woke up at 6am, back in England it would've been 11am. Florida time was going to take a bit of getting used to!!!

Steven woke up not long after, after a quick shower and some breakfast we headed to Animal Kingdom at 8.30am. By the time we had arrived the park had been open for around 5-10 minutes.

We headed straight for Kilimanjaro Safari. Steven was really looking forward to this. It was practically a walk on. It was great seeing all the animal and was hilarious when two giraffes decided to follow the jeep!

On the way to Dinoland we stopped by to see Winnie, Eeyore and Tigger :)

We then went to ride Dinosaur, which freaks me out every time I ride it. Even though I know it's there I have a look of shock and fear on my face in every ride photo.

Next, it was time to conquer Expedition Everest. I love rollercoasters and have no fear when it comes to rides, Steven on the other hand is not a fan of coasters or any ride that goes fast or high in the air. Everest was not his thing. He came in line with me, there was a 15 minute wait, all through the line I asked him if he was sure he wanted to do this and told him he didn't have to do it - he assured me he was going on the ride. Sure enough, he did it! Yes, he was very frightened, but he did it. We conquered Everest for the first time, and it was not our last!!!

DSCN0615.jpg

We grabbed a quick bite to eat and then rode Kali River Rapids, which had a 15 minute wait, however it seemed more like a 30 minute wait. One thing I was shocked with was how warm it was, I didn't expect it to be as hot as it was.

After watching It's Tough to be A Bug we headed back to the hotel.

We arrived back at around 1.30pm and sat around the pool for an hour.

After lounging around our room watching TV, we set off for Epcot at 5pm. We took photos, rode Test Track twice and Soarin'. We ate at Electric Umbrella and headed back to the hotel at 8:30pm.

We played in the arcade from 10pm til 11pm and decided to call it a night.

Part 3 - 4 hour wait for Toy Story Midway Mania?!?!?!

To be continued...

Great Start! Can't wait to read more. I will be taking my DBF to disney for the first time in a couple weeks:cool1:

Monday 4th May
Downtown Disney, Hollywood Studios & MK!

Once again, another early wake up - 6.40am! I lounged around watching TV until Steven woke up. There's great early morning TV! Double bill of Sister, Sister and then a double bill of Sabrina the Teenage Witch!!! Brought back memories :lmao:

Steven went for breakfast at 8am and brought it back to the room (so we could watch Sabrina!). We left for Downtown Disney at 9.40am. Let the shopping commence!!!

We returned to the hotel at 1.20 and had some dinner and watch more TV (Full House double bill! :cool1:).

We went to the Studios at 4pm. BIG MISTAKE. Far too busy, everyone must've hit the Studios that day. We only managed to get on Tower of Terror twice and Star Tours.

Well done to Steven for also conquering Tower of Terror, which he now loves!

We walked past Toy Story Midway Mania to see that the wait time was 240 minutes :scared1:

At that point we decided to 'jump ship' and get the bus to the TTC and go to MK for a few hours.

We had great fun at MK, everything was a walk on except for Splash Mountain, which we didn't do on that day.

Great report - I live in Gateshead and used to work in Sunderland - small world!

Really lovely photos of you and your boyfriend too I hope we get some nice ones on our trip too!:goodvibes

Tuesday 5th May
Typhoon Lagoon & MK

After another early wake up, we set off for Typhoon Lagoon at 10.30am. I had never been to Typhoon Lagoon before, and really wasn't that impressed with it. I'm not a big fan of water parks anyway, but Steven loves water parks.

I couldn't believe how scraped and bruised my legs were after tackling the wave pool. I was so sore.

We left at 1.30pm and went back to the hotel for a quick rest before heading back out to MK at 3pm. We had a bite to eat at Cosmic Rays and headed back to the hotel for 6pm. MK wasn't busy at all. We managed to do a lot of rides in a short amount of time.

Wednesday 6th May
Epcot & Animal Kingdom PM EMH

We got to Epcot for just after rope drop and got a fastpass for Test Track. We then headed over to Mission Space. Last time I rode this I swore I would never go back on it (this was before they had 2 versions of it), however we rode the less intense version and I found it not as good and wanted to go on the intense version - Steven wasn't so keen so we skipped it.

DSCN0905.jpg

After Test Track we started our trip around the world! Many, many things were bought!

Thank you to Princesses Belle, Aurora and Snow White for letting me record them saying a special message to my little sister back home :)

DSCN0937.jpg

We stopped in the UK for something to eat. We had fish and chips :) Yummy!

We decided to skip Soarin' this time as the wait was over 60 mins, so we headed back to the hotel.

At 4pm we arrived at Animal Kingdom. We caught the end of the parade and so got caught in parade traffic on the way round to Everest. We got fast passes for Everest and then headed to Dinosaur.

DSCN0954.jpg

The park didn't seem to busy. We rode Everest a few more times and the rapids (where we got soaked!!!) and decided to call it a night.

Part 6 - 'Was that wasp on your shoulder?' :scared1:

Thursday 7th May
MK AM EMH & DHS

We woke up at 6.30am this morning as we decided to go to MK for EMH. We had breakfast at 7.15am and then headed for the bus.

DSCN0965.jpg
DSCN0966.jpg

When we got to MK at about 7.45am there wasn't as many people there as I thought there would be. I was expecting it to be very busy.

We got a lot done in that 1 hour. We got fastpasses for Splash, rode BTMRR twice, went on Haunted Mansion, saw our favourite 3D show Mickey's Philharmagic, Buzz Lightyear twice and Astro Orbiter. We then headed back to Splash and got soaked.

We left at 11am and went back to the hotel and relaxed after our very early morning.

We left for DHS at 5pm. It was busy as I expected due to Fantasmic being on in the evening. We decided we were going to see the 8.30pm show.

We rode TOT twice then went for something to eat before joining the queue to get into the ampitheatre at 6.45pm.

Whilst waiting in line, I felt a sharp sting on my shoulder. I itched my back hoping it would go away, then a man standing behind us asked me 'Was that wasp on your shoulder?' whilst pointing at a wasp lying on the ground. :scared1: Yes it was on my shoulder and stung me! Ouch.

We got great seats, centre section, half way up from the front. I had never seen Fantasmic. It was AMAZING! I love it.

I'm glad we didn't hold out for the 10pm show as the queue was backed up right up to the hat!!!

We got the bus back to the hotel at around 9.20pm and was back at the hotel by 9.45pm.

Part 7 - More shopping!
