Laur’s and Andy’s Halloween Happiness Trip Day 11

Laur’s – 28
Andy – 29

Saturday 29 September 2007

Our wake up call went off at 8.45 am this morning, but after our late night I slept in until 9.30 am. At Disney?! Shocking! Andy got us breakfast – a ham and cheese omelette and wedges, orange juice and coffee, which we ate and then I went to call my dad. My mum was out but I made him promise to tell her that I had a big cuddle from Tigger the day before as he is her favourite!

We set off for Animal Kingdom at 11.30 am. On the way into the park we had our picture taken with Friar Tuck who was very cute and gave me two kisses.

I couldn’t wait any longer to go on Dinosaur which is my favourite ride in the entire world, so that was first. It was amazing as always.

We went for lunch next in Pizzafari at around 12.30 pm. We shared an Italian deli sandwich (turkey, cheese and salad) and plain crisps, a large fanta and a frozen lemonade cup.

After lunch we had our picture taken with Donald at the character greeting trails and then headed into the Lion King show.

We were seated in the elephant section which was neat as I love elephants. For the first time ever, we experienced pretty cold weather in AK and I was in no way dressed for it, so I shivered through the show. It was very good as always, and my favourite part was when a “crocodile” came into the audience and said to the little girl in front of us “I know I’m just a lowly crocodile but would you like to come and dance with me” – so cute!

We had a stroll round the Tree of Life to try to warm up a bit. It was raining off and on and not getting any warmer.

We went to see the Nemo show next. Hmm, not impressed. I think it’s a shame that they didn’t pick a film that people already knew the songs from rather than making up new ones (which I thought were pretty lame). Especially as Jungle Book is being re-released on DVD this year. It didn’t help that a family in front of us got up and down repeatedly throughout the entire show and had to be told twice by CMs to stop using the lighting on their video cameras.

Andy wanted to try Expedition Everest and I definitely did not, so he went off to do that, giving me the opportunity for another ride on Dinosaur. Andy enjoyed EE, but thought it was good that I chose not to ride.

We had a wander to look at the beautiful Galapagos tortoise, and we got to see her being coaxed out of the water and fed.

We decided to have a ride on the Kilamanjaro Safari before leaving the park. Unfortunately, the vehicles were backing up and CMs started moving guests to a different area to board which may have been OK except they were taking people who had been waiting less time, leaving those of us who had been waiting ages still standing in the non-moving queue. A woman next to me, who had heard me muttering about this said “Welcome to Disney!” We did eventually get on the ride and were lucky enough to have an excellent driver. She was so enthusiastic which, considering we were probably her last tour of the day, was pretty impressive.

Sadly all the messing about meant it was 5.25 pm when we left the park, and we were due at Raglan Road at 6.30 pm! This is the reason why we rarely have table service meals! We got back to the Pop at 5.50 pm, showered and changed in the quickest time ever and were in the car heading Downtown at 6.30 pm. Factor in that we didn’t know where Raglan Road was and the fact that it was raining! We were lucky to arrive only 15 minutes late at 6.45 pm after a run through Pleasure Island!

Our ADR was honoured and we were seated only a couple of minutes later. I wasn’t keen on the fact that the tables were so close together, but that was my only complaint. The food and service were both excellent. We both chose the sangria (cider, peach schnapps and fruit juices) which was delicious and we shared the pate starter with apple chutney. The chutney was so tasty that we practically licked the pot clean.

I had fish and chips for my main course and Andy had shepherds pie. I was a bit dubious about American style fish and chips but they were so good. Andy loved his shepherds pie too, and is trying to convince me to have that next time, but no way, the fish and chips were too good! The shepherds pie was round and the lady at the next table asked what it was – we assured her that it doesn’t normally look like that in England! We shared the bread and butter pudding for dessert which was gorgeous and had a diet coke.

After our meal we waddled over to the Christmas shop. We bought an NYC Christmas decoration (as we visited there in August), a magnet for Andy’s parents, a Tigger ariel topper for my mum, a Jack Skellington pen for me (which Andy has hidden away for my Christmas stocking) and the Nightmare before Christmas soundtrack. I was impressed with the amount of Jack Skellington stuff that was around this year.

We did the World of Disney next where we got some socks and mints for my dad, mints for Andy’s parents, I got a stocking present for Andy (can’t tell you what as he will read this!) and Andy disappeared for a while to do some secret shopping too.

We got back to the Pop around 11 pm. Andy had a beer and I had one of my flavoured beers (fuzzy navel) and we watched Doctor Who and South Park. We were in bed for 12.30 pm.

Shocking lightweights the pair of you!!!:rotfl2:

Nice if chilly day at AK, and I've read several good reviews of Raglan Road now, although shepherds pie and fish and chips makes me think of November in UK!! :rolleyes1

Great pics of the animals.....

Glad you enjoyed Raglan Road, sounds like a great day. I was dubious about a Nemo musical when I heard about it so haven't been to see it yet, its like Nemo overload at the mo.

Loving your reports. We enjoyed RR too...yes, the tables are a bit close and yes, the main room is very loud but the Shepherds Pie makes up for it. Can also recommend the spare ribs as starters...they were delicious!

sounds like a perfect day, especially to top it off with a meal at Raglan Road, one of our favourites

Another great day Laur's.

Dinosaur is one of my favourite rides too. I have a really funny on-ride photo of me taken on our recent trip.

Great report again Laur's. We werent too fussed on the Nemo show either!

Great day Laur's how great to see the giant tortoise, RR sounds nice :)

I quite like the Nemo show but it isn't a patch on the Lion King.

I love your reports Laur's! I love the Nemo show-the songs aren't great-but I love the puppets-really inventive! Raglan Road-the food was fine-I agree about the fish and chips-v.nice! But we found the service was dreadful!
You love buying stuff-you're my kinda gal!!!
