Make sure it has some color or texture to it and make it SOAP. When TSA searches your luggage and sees white powder you don't want them thinking it is something else.

actually this is a good point.....when TSA xrays your luggage, a powder filled ziplock will indeed grab their attention and may well cause them to open your suitcase for a hand search..... not that a hand search is a big deal, but if you're very fussy about how well your suitcase is packed, you might want to avoid something that might well cause a search.......none of my suitcases that were searched have ever arrived in the same shape i left them-- everything shifts around (or was shifted around in the search)....

I'd opt for bringing the pre-packaged packets of woolite or something like that.

I emailed both Tide and Purex last year in my search for laundry tablets to bring on our vacation. They both replied that the tablets have been discontinued .

Prior to our 2 DCL cruises last year I went to Big Lots, after reading a similar DIS board discussion, and got a big box of the discontinued Tide tablets, and the stockpile should last us for many cruises to come. Agreed, its a shame they are no longer available but there do seem to be several other good strategies here. Packing the roll of quarters with the tablets and the dryer sheets has always been part of my method.
