Does anyone know where the laundry room is located on deck 6? We just booked the 7-night for Jan. 2003, and as I was reading Irish Cowboy's trip report, I noticed he mentioned the heat from the laundry and not wanting to be in a room near it.
We are booked in room 6080. Anyone know where it's located in reference to the laundry??

We stayed on deck 7 on the 3-nighter in room 7522 which was fine temperature-wise.

I am very hot natured and don't need to be near anything "hot"!

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Also - I need help with shore excurions to St. Maarten and St. Thomas - which are must-do's????

According to the map that I have these are the locations.

Deck 2 across from 2096
Deck 6 across from 6588
Deck 7 across from 7596

Thanks, Tony!

The map of the decks I had didn't list the laundry rooms. I appreciate the help!

We like to bring our own detergent since DCL has been know to run out now and then.

We buy those Wisk Tablets and they are great for travelling. No liquid spill and no powder spills. They come in a big box and we take a few packs (they come prepackaged two tablets in each pack, enough for one load).

If you decide to do laundry on the ship do it early in the morning. We were in 6598- just down from the laundry room and after about 10:00am the room is pretty much occupied all day and it gets VERY hot in there from the dryers. DH did our laundry on Thurs (he is the morning person) around 7:00 and there was no one else in there.

Nursegardener,

I would have to say that the golden eagle catamaran in St. Maarten is an absolute must do. We had a blast and would do it again in a heartbeat. We did trunk bay in St. Thomas/St. John. It was great, but it rained, kindof dampened our outlook on the excursion. In both cases, the crew of the excursion ships were both extremely professional and we really enjoyed both.

We were in room 6588 on our 1st cruise - right across from a laundry room. I get hot very easily and never felt the heat from the laundry room affected the temp. in our room. Yes, the laundry was very warm and from about 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. there was usually a line out the door for people who wanted to use the iron but we never heard much noise from there. Our only complaint was with all those people lined up outside your room everytime any of us went in or out we had all these people peering in.

Thanks to all for the replys!!! I know it's a long way off, but we are counting the days until Jan. 25, 2003!!!

Anymore hints, tips, etc. - let me know!!

Thanks again,

Sandee,
Your mention of people peeking into your room made me remember our voyage on Royal Caribbean's Viking Serenade, a tiny old cruise ship. It used to go out of CA for a weekend trip, and we quickly discovered that is was PACKED with locals. Everyone seemed to know everyone else, and the staterooms were about the size of closets, so they all kept their stateroom doors propped open. I saw more people in their undies than I care to recall, and some of the conversations that they were shouting across the halls were enough to make me blush!! Quite a unique cruising experience!!
That is also the cruise where our dinner tablemates were a set of twins who sailed very often on that ship and knew the crew a little TOO well, as well as a couple in which the husband was literally over seven feet tall...but that's another story.
